Wise words spoken here. I still maintain that aikido is relevant in day to day use.

Well no it’s not. A simple youtube search will show you aikido is useless unless the opponent is completely hammered.

That would be hard to excuse unless a knife was involved. It's just the harm put back into the harmony of shihonage . Plenty of other possibilities.

Here's the sitch. Every physical confrontation is potentially a life or death situation. Without knowing the other's skill level or videos they may/ may not have watched...protect YOURSELF AT ALL TIMES!😏😅🤣😆😂✌️🙏💯

Leaving aside the technique for a moment, the verbal setup is all wrong. It will get you prison time.
The law in English speaking nations does NOT allow you to enter into any kind of voluntary fighting except in legally sanctioned bouts in a properly arranged tournament. Having a square go in the street or other public place as an adult makes you guilty of a range of offences.
The bottom line is that the law does not allow you to harm others by choice.
Self defence is essentially involuntary. It is something that you are forced into doing to protect your safety. You are not agreeing to engage in a violent altercation. You are left with no choice but to use force to stop an aggressor from using unlawful force on you or someone else in the immediate vicinity.
If you are fool enough to tell the police that someone got in your face and wanted a fight so you gave them one, you are talking yourself into jail. Don't do that.
If someone comes at you and you told them loudly to stay back, but they quickly looked around them for witnesses and then came right at you so you had no choice but to do whatever to stop them from maiming or killing you? You ain't going to jail because you didn't want any part of it and were left with no choice but to use reasonable force in the circumstances to defend yourself.
Now, back to the technique. Breaking the elbow joint may or may not stop an attacker. Some people who are drunk or high, or both, and full of rage or 'excited delirium' will not be stopped by an elbow, or wrist, or finger, joint break.
If it works, and you can get gone, great.
If it doesn't you had better be thinking of what you are going to follow it up with.

Well said. Thorough explanation. Every physical confrontation is potentially life and death. One doesn't know the other's skill level or abilities... or if they've watched they've watched the same or similar videos.😏😅🤣😆😂✌️🙏💯

Why not do a usual shihonage and control, not maim the guy? You'd lessen your legal liability.

They are both options but you might need this if, for example, they are on drugs that dull or block pain. In that scenario you cannot rely on pain compliance so need to physically disable them.
It's all about using judgement and you are right that a proportional response is needed but in some cases, this would be proportional. It's still "safer" than something like a punch to the face which is unpredictable and could cause serious or even fatal injury.

The Chinese aikido “master” literally got the shit kicked outta him by a 40 yo retired mma fighter. He wasn’t even professional. Aikido is useless, unless the other party has no, and I mean absolutely no fighting experience.

Really? You would break someone's arm just for throwing a punch at you? That seems so antithetical to the philosophy of Aikido. I think of the 200+ Aikidoflow videos this is the first one I do NOT agree with. What specifically would be the circumstances where something like this would be justified, Azu Sensei?

dosent matter, 99% of the time someone attempting this move will he the one to be hurt. this is really the issue with this akido crap, most of the moves relies on the opponent just standing still and not responding. turning your back against someone with a free hand, they are not gonna stand there and let you break the arm, they are gonna punch the back of your head
