two of the greatest people to have ever blessed the npr air waves.
I agree. Good honest information. These guys were the best.
@Jeff and Rocker Yes, this show was always such a blast --- I would always look forward to it all week. :D
I miss them sooo much
i just discovered this shit....way to late to say the least. I love it. Also, gd i wish we could go back to 1995
I listened to these guys as a kid and I dearly miss them and their show.
I absolutely loved these guys. Absolutely. Nothing to dislike about them. I miss them.
Even their laughs are iconic.
Rest in peace Tom. Too bad we can't have a whole world full of Tom's and Rays.
O - Life would be so much better
I just picked up on their podcast didn't know I was listening to a ghost was looking forward to more episodes Guess that's not going to happen
That would be grand!
@@fatboyinskinnyjeans Keep listenin'. I still listen to them every week if I'm driving somewhere, and they still hold up with their Best of podcasts. It's hard to believe it's been 7 years since the show ended and 5 since we lost Tom.
fatboyinskinnyjeans well that’s true but you have over twenty years of materiel. Enjoy!
The best radio program of all time. The literal voices of my childhood. Hope Tom is resting well.
I just finished a 24 hour round trip to my parents (12 hours up, 12 back). Downloaded 24 episodes of Car Talk and played it all the way. Greatest car trip ever, time flew by so fast.
"Hello, you're on Car Talk....."
Did you drive like your brother?
That is a GREAT idea!
Absolutely. I couldn't agree more. I looked forward to their show. 😢
I’ve done this as well on long road trips !
I liked the one w the Cadillac lady. Who got a new one every 2 years. Her husband wanted to do this dumb thing where you shift to N at every stop. On an automatic.
Then, she's dying to tell her husband she was right about it.
In my headcanon I always envisioned them as Mario and Luigi.
I just can't get enough of the "boat payments" bit - truly two legends
I’m a car guy. I started working on cars as a kid in the ‘70s, helping my dad change oil or plugs, maybe replace points or a steering pump. And every week, he and I would listen to Car Talk. We loved Tom and Ray, we tried to solve the problems along with them. They were hilarious, they were self-deprecating, they were smart. And they knew cars. My dad is gone now. I miss him, and I miss Car Talk. They were the best.
Still listen to their podcast when it’s released every week.
One of the funniest radio shows ever, and still cracks me up!
RIP Tom!
Hope you’re doing well, Ray! Thanks for the laughs!
I miss the brothers; they were the funniest people in there own minds
They seem to be real
to be fair, they were the funniest people in my mind too. Other than myself.
A couple of real guys who were smart, but didn't flaunt it. Oh, and funny too. Love em!!
Only started listening to the show about 2 years ago in my car every Saturday morning. I was saddened to find out they were re-runs and the show has ended couple years ago. Love this show forever and listening to them always puts a smile on my face. RIP CarTalk.
Honestly it was soooo much better before it was "the Best of CarTalk"... now all the old shows are picked apart and pieced together. Some sections of old shows get used over and over
Amen
Same here, it wasn’t until I Googled it did if find out they were re-runs. It’s a great show, I wonder did Ray ever think about carrying on with a new co-host.
@@markbourke3055 So many jokes in the shows about people replacing them, only to find out that they're just not replaceable.
Know this comment is a year old but I just found out Tom, the guy with the contagious laughter, passed away in 2017.
Seemed like genuinely good guys, RIP Tom and Car Talk. You can buy each season of the show on compact disc, worth it.
I used to listen to them every Saturday morning when I lived in Massachusetts. I moved to a different state many many years ago and one day I got a call back from the radio show they had accepted my question and I could not believe it. Someone called me back and explained what was going to happen when Thom and Ray called my home phone number. I was so honored to actually have been chosen for them to answer one of my questions.❤❤❤❤❤
I love that they stereotype people. They’re just being honest because we ALL stereotype people.
This is one of the joys of my life. ...and thanks to RUclips I can listen for the next 25+ years! I love you Tom and Ray and that love will NEVER die!
Junk You can listen to them via their podcast, too!
Never! Ever! Ever!
Tom: This car doesn't burn ANY oil.
Ray: That's 'cuz he never puts any oil IN it! :D
I feel somehow honored to have actually *seen* Tommy's '63 Dodge Dart! (Before it got wrecked by his son in a later show).. You know, I think if you look hard, you can actually see the mold and leaves and mushrooms growing in the back seat!
@Quacks0, 😂
@@SweetBearCub that episode was my first exposure to this great show
The car talk guys for those that don’t know also fittingly enough appeared in Cars and Cars 3 (They used archive recordings for Tom in the latter film while it appears they were able to get the surviving brother Ray to reprise his role) as Rusty (Tom) and Dusty (Ray) Rust-eze they also made a few appearances as themselves in a few shows like Arthur.
This is the first show I remember on NPR. I was in elementary school. Used to argue about having to listen to the news w/ my dad. But when car talk was on, I was always game. I bet those reruns will be on another 30yrs b/c 3 generations grew up listening to Ray and Frank.
They look exactly like I always imagined them!
I’m 21 and I found them when I was 19 in the farm truck and I found them on the radio I have loved them ever since they are funny and smart. They will always bring joy to me. Love them.
The only reason why I still support NPR. Still can laugh to this day just thinking about hearing Tom laugh.
Still listen to the rebroadcasts every wheekend! Miss ya Tom...Love these guys..
Makes me sad every time my son watches cars, I LOVED listening to them every Saturday and Sunday ❤️❤️❤️
These guys are a gift to talk radio and the nation.
They set a standard that still has to be met.
AMEN
Not entirely sure if there is a radio hall of fame... but they better be in it.
There must be something...
My mom loved listening to these guys on Car Talk. They were SO funny. Unfortunately, Tom was gone too soon. He was only 77. It's still hard to imagine this life and this world without him, especially during this pandemic.
God these guys were so good. We really need them in todays time. Car people take themselves too seriously now.
My Dad used to look forward to reading their article in our local newspaper. He had a good laugh when they did an article on the AMC Eagle calling it quite possibly the ugliest car ever made. His Dad had an Eagle and couldn't wait to show him the article. I miss all of them...
I still listen to the show in 2018, I know it’s a re-run, but I just love the show. Great guys!
Hearing that intro song just makes me smile instantly. Great memories listening to car talk with my dad as a kid. Now I listen to old episodes all the time.
3 people I miss most on the airwaves: Jon Stewart and Tommy & "Raymie" Magliozzi. Like favorite uncles, the Tappet Brothers, for decades, have managed to fill me full of love, laughter and tears (from laughter). I often listen to the Car Talk podcast, but my heart is still heavy with the passing of Tommy.
Rest in peace, Tom. You will be missed.
"...and then flames started coming out the tailpipe!" "And what alerted you that something was wrong?"
These guy kept me alive during a very rough time in my life. Their humor and knowledge was very relaxing. I came upon them in early 2000 passing thru Syracuse on their NPR station and since I had to go a certain way every Sunday night I made sure that I had left where I was coming from at the same time every week so that I could hear their (what I know now) was a replay and then realized that my friends were also listening but we never spoke about it and then when there were my personal issues that were eventually taken care of those guys were still there for me. When Tom passed away it was like one of the family passed and it was very difficult. Their one hour a week made a big difference in this guys life and kept my mind off my loss if only for that hour every Sunday night and for that I am very thankful.
Two of the funniest people who ever lived. RIP Tom.
I used to listen to them all the time. Sure miss them. R.I.P. Tom (1937-2014).
The cartalk podcast is available on RUclips folks. Reruns of all the shows
Great to see them, and wonderful to get a little closer to Tom. Ray is the glib one, but I think Tom was more the thinker. I really would have liked to have a beer with him.
Come on, guys. I remember you on WEEI, a lot of years ago, seriously. No jokes then, but you were smart and helpful and I was a 20-year old woman, enjoying your show. Rest in peace, dear friend Tom.
Andrea Devine They didn’t joke around back then? 👩🏾
Makes me sad to think that I was born in the wrong era to have only heard them live for a few years. Truly sad.
tvu86 Thank God my Dad turned me to this show when I was little. Great memories driving around on Saturday mornings listening to these guys cracking up on NPR
Sad, yet you're lucky that you did get to experience them. People like them are very rare.
I’m enjoying their podcasts. Love listening even more when my car breaks down. They make it all ok.
These guys a geniuses. Love them always
I love these guys they have so much fun with each other I listened to them every Saturday at 10 never missed a show R.I.P Tom
I miss Car Talk!
Kbaahca the shows are out there on podcasts. Comes out every Saturday
I was just lucky to grow up with Car Talk on Saturday mornings. The laughter from Tommy and Ray just made your day better. Thanks!
I agree and I’m originally from Massachusetts.❤❤❤
They could have been a great comedy duo as well. I really miss my weekend listen of their radio show 🙏
I want to know what the joke was that Tom wanted to tell. Love these guys! Wish I had started listening sooner, thank goodness for the podcast.
I love love love these guys and miss their wisdom, humor and POV on the air ..thank goodness there are podcasts, RUclips and archived shows
Saturdays have not been the same since there went off the air.......
Still listen to the reruns every week. "The best of Car Talk" wherever you get your podcasts.
When growing up every weekend morning my grandma would be listening in the kitchen. Eating toast, drinking tea and gazing out the window. I do wish I could get to see and hear that just one more time. I still listen each weekend. I wish npr wasn’t doing all the subscription stuff with it but I’m thankful the weekly episodes are still free
Iam soooo happy that you tube has this on for me to listen too when ever I feel nostalgic.now I can watch click and clack interview and enjoy same good humor and tech talk...my wife and kids just don't get it...who cares...its for dad anyways...a fan of Tom and Ray Magliozzi forever
These guys are American Icons. Bring em back !!
I loved listening to them
Toward the end, I realized I'd been smiling ear to ear throughout the entire video. Truly miss these guys. Giants
Love these guys. Reminds you to laugh and enjoy life. It’s something we all need to do.
I STILL (2021) listen to this every week on Irish Radio RTÉ Radio 1 Extra (7 ET am Sat or 3.30 am Wed) . I know it is reruns but it is still the best thing for the psyche and even for car info you can get.
I started listening to Car talk when I was in my late 20s. Early 40s now, sad that we lost one of those most endearing personalities. Best car talk show ever on the radio. Ever.
Using my boomer dad's RUclips account to find stuff we listened to on family road trips. And cartalk was it. I remember climbing into the old van, from vestal new York, to coconut Grove Florida. Laughing to them click and clack away. To this day it's played a huge part of my auto mechanic affinity. I enjoy doing some of the work with my dad too. I'm almost 40 now. This was a key piece of my childhood and bonding with mipaw
Grew up listening to these guys every Saturday at 10, I miss it a lot
This guys were part of my Saturday morning for years, if I missed it I would tune in to our local station re-run on Sunday evening. Great way to start or end a weekend and many times I listened to both broadcasts just to hear it again.
Sadly, nothing good lasts forever.
I wish we have a whole world full of Tom and Rays rest in peace you're sorely missed
Grew up listening to these guys and still listen to reruns. I adore them.
I miss these guys. ❤
I still listen to their reruns every Saturday. It's a joy!!
thank you for this great interview.
Thanks for posting this! I first heard their show in the early 80s. It's cool to see their faces, their voices are unforgettable
the first radio show makes me listen to every single show of it over and over
thanks for the upload, very cool....love these guys!
Awwww priceless. Just shedding tears by listening. Even though I listen to re play on NPR and just couldn't get enough
Listening now. Saturday morning in Nov 2019. To the podcast. Like old times.
It's great to see all the great comments here, Car Talk is and was great I still listen to episodes any time I can. Great show, greatly missed, got choked up watching and listening to Tom mention the $20 a week 😂 so happy and brought me and I know many others so much joy. Thanks Tom and Ray aka Click and Clack ☮️ 💜
I listened to Car Talk every Saturday morning for years during the 80’s and 90’s. I had a lot of laughs while learning about cars. Definitely, the most entertaining program on NPR.
I used to live in NJ growing up and my dad and I would always listen to them. I miss these guys.
There was nothing like going for a road trip on Saturday morning and laughing with these guys for an hour.
It makes scenes that one of the most popular radio programs of all time is Car Talk. The most common places people listen to the radio is in a car and in a workshop, a decent amount are auto shops.
Me and my grandpa use to listen to this every Saturday morning
I miss their show soooo much. What a great duo they were. And they were brothers too.
B Sharp luckily they recorded them. Podcasts
Awesome upload thank you!
I love these Bostonian fellas. I love to hear them on the Boston local NPR radio coming from a millennial listener. Such a great loss for the people of Massachusetts.
90's cars are too complicated XD
"Don't drive like my brother"
The Sleek.....Black......Beauty
Popped in my head, totally miss them
Great show I never missed every weekend
Miss ya Tom
My God I love them so much, Tom’s laugh will always be in my memory.
Such nostalgia man!
One of the best radio shows!❤❤
I miss Car Talk. That was the only program on NPR worth listening to.
I grew up listening to them with my father in the car, broke my heart when tom died and the show ended. Rest in peace🙏
Love these guys!
Loved loved loved this show. I know all things pass, but that doesn't mean I have to be happy about it. Loved this show.
when I first discovered the show a while back, I heard everything they made and I wanted to find more. Like their latest. Then I discovered that Tom passed away 😢
Bruce Williams from AM radio days is another one you can’t get enough of.
They were one of my favorite shows. I miss it!
Two of my favourite people ever
I miss these guys SOOO much.
Love love love them. Rip
Tom is wearing the hat they gave away that has the OEM finger smudges. Love these guys!
