K-12 public schooling needs abolished and education re-built within the community with an integrated curriculum of Hillsdale classical lit, godinanutshell research, open sourced learning on a quantum level focused on student-centered, family-driven best practices, evidence based model... what we are seeing unfold before our eyes is Truth-school=prison=institution=money for few Our great country needs restored to our constitutional republic-and I thank God for President Trump and the pathway he has already given us to start that transition!!!! After I found 450,000 book reports for the book “Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry”, I realized I’d have to use oral rather than written reports for grading. I knew the student who had plagiarized was not able to speak or write English well, even though he probably graduated five years later as the valedictorian of his class. He was an athlete, a swimmer, and made good grades in math and spelling/vocabulary tests of 20 words a week, but his English was weak and I don’t know if he every learned to read. I gave the seventh graders time in class to read because they had a quite difficult curriculum for a bilingual school. He was in the computer lab with me when I made my startling discovery. I offered him a chance to repeat the book report but he did the same thing again. “Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry” is not the most common of books but it is a great book, well worth reading, and was one of the three required books, in addition to the chubby Literature Text. Imagine how many book reports are on the web for a classic!!! I’m a granny born in Arkansas and two of my ten cousins went to Arkansas State. I have listened to Hugh Hewitt interviewing our distinguished Senator Tom Cotton. I taught at Escuela Americana 25 years and continued working part time after retiring. I know we even had to submit to the requirements of the Southern Association, even though EA is a prestigious private bilingual school in San Salvador. I’m fluent in Spanish; understand and read French and will be glad to help, if I can. Please read Dr. Thomas Sowell book about Charter Schools and Their Enemies. He’s a great fan of charter schools. My grandson says the smartest girl in his tenth grade class is a girl from our church. I know her parents are missionaries serving other missionaries and have homeschooled their two children. It wasn’t until. ninth grade when they decided to send their daughter to EA.
I have a long held dream of starting a farm school, primarily to continue the legacy of farmers and those who want the skills of farming to manage a small farm and orchard. I am interested in the charter school guidance. I also believe having the 3 R's for youth is essential to understanding the development of the young adults mind to understanding our constitution and how that defines adult life, and the responsibilities that come with the rights they may exercise. I realize after 20+ years of education that this has been missing for some parents, and I believe we could all use remedial courses on our constitution as well as experiencing hands on trades.
