@@TVConnorsCrap I'm presuming to collect on damaged money and get 4 more bucks as well, if you have a ripped bill, say a child got your wallet, the bank will take the damaged bill and replace it, the damage bill then goes to the federal reserve, the reserve pays the bank the bill ammount and it gets taken out of circulation, effectively working like insurance It's a DUMB thing what they were doing, and when I was like 7 or so in the early 2000's I tried to do this less-but-still-dumb-thing when staying at my cousins with $50 of birthday money, and my uncle had to run to the bank, as long as about half or more of the bill is there they'll take it, little me got about 50 extra bucks after I returned home and went down to the local bank with my parents with the other half Would it be possible to do this again today? The way around the ink pen is to spray what ever paper used with hairspray. Why bust your hump trying to hunt down the paper when it’s easier to figure out why it turns colors with the wrong paper. Then find away to replicate its reaction or a way to block it. Hairspray blocks the ink from making contact with the starch found in most papers which caused the color change of the ink. Also adds to texture. The spray that is used for stair safety grip adds texture as well blocks the ink too. ;)
I love a good come up story especially when noone gets hurt, but if you do anything long enough eventually you'll get caught. The secret is to not be greedy, just get in and get out.
I knew a counterfeiting guy. He traveled around a lot, pretended to be a pilot for Pan-Am, a lawyer and then a doctor. He was always running, the FBI chased him across the country for a long time.
Printer ink is actually a few cents at real cost, the companies drive the price up to profit as usually printers you buy are sold under the production cost / or manufacturing cost.
I have no knowledge of how he did what but most of these things usually involve someone close to the production process. The ordering paper from all around the world is a nice story and might be true but the sceptic in me says he had a head start through knowing someone close to the process or paying for information.
Good story PBS did quite a story on counterfeiting and there's some very interesting people who put lots of time and work. The store here was amazing. Just hard to believe that anyone could possibly do this in today's world is amazing

Problem with counterfiting nowadays is, cameras are everywhere. When someone passes a fake bill, the bank picks it up and then they call the Secret Service. The Secret Service comes to where the fake was passed and look at videos and they can see who passed the bogus bill.
I never have relied on pens at work, handled enough cash that I can feel if the bill is suspicious. Caught a few washed bills before that felt completely wrong, including a $100 not more than a few weeks ago. Faking the watermark and strip might’ve faked me out but if I’m still not sure check for the red and blue micro threads and print.

Had a guy pay with a 100 at a store I used to work at. I used the pen and it was fine, I was about to do it but stopped and thought "Man this bill feels weird". Called the supervisor, the supervisor felt it, and she called the manager. Thing was 100% fake. Turned the guy down, I'm surprised the manager didn't call the cops.
What I really want to know is why all of these genius counterfeiters focus on producing new bills rather than recreating old bills (even though old bills are much easier to counterfeit and are still able to be used as currency)?
The blue holographic strip would be extremely hard to replicate. It for the most part looks like the liberty Bell moving up and down. But if you actually did the right motion the liberty Bell turns into “100”. You’d be better off doing 20s or 50s that are newer than the 100 in this video but also older than the blue face 100.
0:30 Paper currency are not bills, they're notes. The reason they're called notes is originally only coins were legal tender (coins used to be made from precious metals). A paper note was literally a promissory note, saying that the person would repay money to someone.-It's an "I owe you". A bill is the opposite. A bill is a note requiring payment; it's a "You owe me".
@@cartninja6479 The rest of the world quite literally says they're paying with a twenty dollar note, a twenty pound note etc. Only people in the U.S.A. call it a bill, because they're proudly ignorant of their poor literacy skills.
It's an interesting problem to have, having so much cash to spend. But it IS a problem. Even on a small scale, imagine doing some work for cash you didn't report. You can't just put it in the bank, and there's only so many things you can buy with it...
They still exist. Ive had cashiers get 50s and 100s. Make them use the markers and maybe you won’t get scammed but teenagers are lazy. A marker can be sitting by their hand and they won’t pick it up
That moment when you print out that first note that looks and feels EXACTLY like a real hundred bill must feel like winning the lottery man. Going out and buying stuff must have felt unreal. He says they'd buy the cheapest thing to get the most change. I'd buy expensive af things! How did he get caught btw?
I think buying cheap things makes people less suspicious and then you can take the real money and buy expensive things with it. That seems like the safest way.

It's the value of stuff, probably couldn't spend more than 2 counterfeit 100s before a manager was called. IRS comes in if you try and buy a car. Can't buy a house. Pretty much just gas and groceries with cash. Those do add up, but not 30k in one day like the guy said.
He never mentioned how he was able to counterfeit the micro printing. On all currency, there is extremely small words all throughout. With a magnifier, the text is crisp and clean, on counterfeit, it either doesn't exist or is extremely blurry and smudged.

I am convinced tht somebody has a real money printer with all the right steps , I think There must be a point in wealth were it's more lucratif to create just real money
I honestly think there should be jobs available for men and women like this. It's already started happening for good computer network hackers etc. Anybody who has proof they can hack a banknote shouldn't be put in jail, they should be paid a million a year to help make sure the next gen of banknotes are even more secure. But it won't happen. As someone below said, best counterfeiter hasn't been caught; there's no incentive. As someone below also mentioned; the DPRK (North Korea) has supposedly bought a printing press capable of making the cotton based bank notes the US still uses. It takes one person to share the details of a print plate and someone else to have access to the laser or whatever medium is used to create the plate for a rogue nation to print s lot of naughty money. Inflation in UK is near 10pc. This is the downside to printing money though. Kim can only buy so much before he has to start using the currency he's printed as wallpaper along with the rest of US and then most of the world who hold US reserves. This is my guess only; I'm only an amateur economist!
Way back in 2003 I believe it was a friend said she'd had an issue at the theatre she was working at in Cincinnati and had been called back to work. Being from the UK I already thought "Surely you checked it? In the UK we're ALWAYS told to check large bills.". They asked her the same question "Did you check it?" she said no. @@TVConnorsCrap I'm presuming to collect on damaged money and get 4 more bucks as well, if you have a ripped bill, say a child got your wallet, the bank will take the damaged bill and replace it, the damage bill then goes to the federal reserve, the reserve pays the bank the bill ammount and it gets taken out of circulation, effectively working like insurance
It's a DUMB thing what they were doing, and when I was like 7 or so in the early 2000's I tried to do this less-but-still-dumb-thing when staying at my cousins with $50 of birthday money, and my uncle had to run to the bank, as long as about half or more of the bill is there they'll take it, little me got about 50 extra bucks after I returned home and went down to the local bank with my parents with the other half
Would it be possible to do this again today? Eh, maybe, but banks probably report the damaged notes serial number instantly now to the reserve, would it be worth it? Only if I was REALLY desperate for like 20-100 bucks

The spray that is used for stair safety grip adds texture as well blocks the ink too. ;)
