I’m in NJ and our season for whitetail runs from 2nd week of September to second week of January. I currently have the Equinox pants, core lightweight crew and mid weight crew! That should be plenty to get me into mid-later October. But now I’m trying to decide for November if my next piece should be the Traverse jacket or hoodie!
My thought with this one is to use on the walk to the stand as a way to "protect" my Ambient jacket. I want to wear my Ambient for the walk in but I just don't trust it to withstand briars n twigs n such.
Been wearing my traverse hoody here in central Illinois. Had core lightweight, heavyweight zip t, aerolite vest, traverse hoody, and stratus jacket. Would wear the traverse into the stand then put the stratus on over it after I cooled off. Last couple weeks we were low 20s high teens in the morning getting up to mid 30s. I was comfortable the whole time. This hoody makes a great outer while walking in and a great mid layer for warmth. I have the subalpine for early while it's still green and the EV2 for mid when the leaves are gone.
If you had to choose between traverse jacket or ambient jacket for a stratus under layer (walk to stand) and a cool day for turkey hunting in ky, which would you choose? Im tryin not to buy both. Also I am stuck on which pant to get for the same situation. to go under stratus bibs and for cool day turkey hunting. (i am wanting to stay all subalpine, im not a fan of elevated) i was thinking mountain pant but i think the gradient would work well under the stratus bibs and you can get it in earth color unlike the equinox midi (but i understand they are probably not as durable as mountain) I currently do not own any sitka but m trying to get a big list together for upcoming whitetail season. thanks a lot for all of your reviews.
Thanks for the reply… I just went to the store yesterday and tried both on… I can see the ambient is more breathable, but it did not feel near as warm, especially for the $100 premium… I might regret my decision, but I went with the Traverse, which I know is a little more weight probably less mobility, but nothing that will prohibit me stand hunting. I’m ok with me decision, hopefully won’t regret it. 🤷🏾♂️
I bought the XL in Timber. The fit under my armpits is a little tight so I ordered a xxl and the sleeves are rather long and appears to be too baggy. I'm 5'11 about 205. Just trying to figure out the best option
@@Matt-P1 yea. it’s cool and all but it’s not windproof or water proof so my drake fleece does the same thing. i have the duck oven which is windproof and i have the delta wading jacket which is wind and waterproof so i really don’t have a need for it
@@campegriles7125 I don’t really wear a big jacket just layer with hoodies and stuff but I’ll eventually be old enough to get a job and get another. I was debating spending the extra 100 on the duck oven on sale for 200 I thibo
@@Matt-P1 yea i’m 17 and have a job so i used my christmas bonus to buy the duck oven, traverse hoodie, and delta wading jacket. 10/10 recommend the duck oven w the delta wading jacket. the traverse is just kinda pointless cuz it’s not wind or water proof so your kinda just paying for optifade camo
I like how I get a first lite ad when I'm trying to watch a video on what I bought😂

This fella needs to be paid by Sitka and just go to their HQ and review everything

That sounds like a sweet setup!!

Travers Jacket over fanatic hoodie midi pant heavy mariano base and stratus bib i stay warm. More coverage with a bib no need for the extra jacket
I’ll always put a stratus on top of a traverse , bibs help yes, but gotta have wind stopper on the arms and chest.
@fieldseriesreview i run hot. that's why i like the bib i get some wind blocker but still breath
Have one coming in Monday can’t wait to put it to the test in the swamps of South Carolina
It will do great in SC!
Under a stratus would this be warmer as a mid layer or would the ambient jacket be warmer?
The traverse is used as a mid layer but the Ambient is warmer with better mobility.

I had the same problem, seems the cut is made for slender frames with long arms
I thought my equinox Hoody was worst sitka buy do wish they offered a few things more soild colors
Traverse vs Amnbient?
I thought the traverse hoodie is a little more waterproof than the gradient hoodie? Is that correct?
Na, they both are just spray with DWR water repellent.
@@fieldseriesreview thanks alot and love your vids on your personal reviews!
got the Hoodie on sale today for 160
Got mine in Mack’s pw this morning for 120
