      Guitar for HIS Glory. For starters you don't have unnecessary dialogue. The camera position is perfect. You play through exactly like recording. My personally favorite, you list pickup position followed by all pedals/effects used. And just simply the organization of clips is on point. Thanks for your efforts! Keep em' coming!

I've been playing a long time so I don't need the detailed explanations some tutorials give, but it's awesome that you repeat sections and give a close up view. Man, how do you figure out all these chord variations in all your tutorials.. you just make it look so easy haha.. like when you sit down to play a song, in a particular key, where do you go from there to play the way you play? I mean like how do you find the different chord shapes you do or the notes you play? I want to know so bad lol.. I'm a beginner..

    • @GuitarforHISGlory
      @GuitarforHISGlory  8 лет назад

      Daniel, practice! Start learning the three notes that make up each chord. That will help you learn different chord inversions. After a while, the shapes will become second nature. Have you watched my explanation of chord inversions yet? It may help!

  • @robertlingle1296
    @robertlingle1296 7 лет назад +2

    Great arrangement! It will take me awhile to learn it, but I will try! can you please give some comments on the Portlander? [I have a $1000 HSS strat, and I am pondering what will be my "other guitar." I mostly play worship music, but some classic rock.] I think most of the improvement in my sound lies in building my skills -- "tone comes from your fingers," right? But I might buy a better guitar too.]

    • @GuitarforHISGlory
      @GuitarforHISGlory  7 лет назад

      Hi there! Do you have specific questions about the Portlander? I have a rig rundown coming soon where I offer a few thoughts, so if you can wait for that, I'll hold off on typing something up!

    Those picked chords on the bridge pickup sounded awesome. How do you get such a strong sound out of the high strings on the bridge pickup? Do you set the pickup very close?

    • @GuitarforHISGlory
      @GuitarforHISGlory  7 лет назад

      Hey, bro! Thanks for the kind words. A nice, bright long-tail 'verb, a decent amount of compression and brighter amp tone will get you there, no problem. Just need to watch your picking hand, because the ice-pick tone can get out of control pretty fast!

    • @GuitarforHISGlory
      @GuitarforHISGlory  7 лет назад

      Oops...nope. Bridge pickup is placed at the typical height.

  • @spiders267
    @spiders267 7 лет назад +2

    Very nice! So good! Your tone is amazing too! I prefer reverbs and delays after the pre amp (looks like your running them pre preamp on the kemper if I'm not mistaken. I currently use a helix, which I love and I was curious as to what type of reverb your using to get a washy sound like that. Also it sounds like you use a pre delay on the reverb too, what do you set it at, or what is the idea behind the predelay? Normally mine is set to 0 but it sounds like your just giving he note definition by not having the huge wash right away. Let me know! I'd love to chat gear and how you set up tones so I can set up my helix better!

    • @GuitarforHISGlory
      @GuitarforHISGlory  7 лет назад +2

      Ryan, thank you for the encouraging words! The gear I used is listed in the video description.
      You're right: I run everything right to the front of the Kemper, mainly because I never saw a need to do anything else. Sounds fine to me, LOL.
      I walk through my approach to reverbs in the following video, where I also chat about pre-delay: ruclips.net/video/FDOlTaczUas/видео.html
      In short, I recommend a higher pre-delay setting for single note/chord (i.e., actually playing) stuff. Alternatively, a lower pre-delay is more appropriate for swells and ambient style stuff.
      Watch that video and let me know if you have questions. Happy to chat!

    Dude, what kind of guitar is that....
    Please do an equipment overview! I'd love to get a closer look at your Duesy and whatever else you're using. Are they all your own? How are you running amplification for your videos? Do you use real amps at your church?
    Sort of an equipment nerd, lol.

    • @GuitarforHISGlory
      @GuitarforHISGlory  8 лет назад

      Hi, Jake! We'd get along great, because I'm a gear nerd, too!
      The guitar used here is a Veritas Portlander. Great guitar. :) And yep, all the guitars are mine.
      We don't use amps at our church. We all run direct. I personally use the Kemper (that's what you're hearing here, too).
      Maybe I'll do a gear rundown soon. Pretty standard setup--your typical worship player setup, for sure.

    Looks like you are starting in A? I am getting lost on the chorus. Kind of hard to see what you fingers are doing. I know the chords but in G, they sound different. Is it because you are playing in the key of the recording?

    • @GuitarforHISGlory
      @GuitarforHISGlory  6 лет назад

      Not sure what you're asking here, Juan. If you're in the key of G, than you would play the Em (Gmaj) pentatonic. However, in worship, the major scale is more commonly used; so, you would simply play in the Gmaj scale.
