Thank you for watching and your feedback. We are happy that we have been able to help. We're hopeful that our videos may give you ideas of questions to ask your medical team.
Thank you so much for this video. As the mom of a 32 yo diagnosed last week, I will be the note taker and question coordinator. I had some version of most of these, but this filled a few gaps and helped me to organize the questions. First appt is tomorrow.
We're so glad the video helped! We hope your first appointment went well, and that you felt prepared with all the questions you had. We hope our Yerbba videos continue to provide support and helpful information as you and your daughter navigate this journey.
Dr.i should have given or offered chemotherapy before my surgery, but he only gave me Tamoxifen.I had one centimeter lump, with 1 centimeter skin involvement. I asked about chemo, but he said no,without a reason!I may change to another Dr.tomorrow.
With low-risk disease such as yours, most people do not receive chemotherapy. We hope this is helpful. Asking for more information is always your right.
I enjoyed this video very much. I think there’s no need to be afraid to ask questions. I make a list before I go to the doctor. My doctor writes all the procedures/ names of the chemo etc.. to make sure there are no misunderstandings. I’m an American living in Japan and it’s difficult to understand the technical terms in Japanese. I always use a dictionary to translate the brochures and documents they give to me. I couldn’t have anyone accompanying me at the time but I really recommend taking a friend there with you to take notes. I even asked my doctor at the time how much the chemo would cost and he even wrote the amount down for me. I think communication with the doctor is everything. I really enjoy your videos. Over here we have to wear a corset for a few months after the operation to prevent underarm swelling. I finally took it off and can exercise now!
Thanks for watching and for the positive comments. Your doctor sounds like a good partner in your care. How helpful that the costs were known upfront. This is the direction we need to go in for all patients so that we can help people pay for their treatment.
I have stage 3 , and grade 3 invasive ductsl carcinoma, ER+, PR+, HRR2 -ve. tumor size is 1.9 cm , should ttt start with surgery or chemotherapy, also , do i have to do mastectomy or lumpectomy, as i hsve skin thicisnd tenderness ! ?
With your diagnosis of stage III, grade 3 invasive ductal carcinoma, starting with either surgery or chemotherapy would be reasonable. The choice often depends on factors like tumor size, location, and skin involvement. If you're in the U.S., we encourage you to visit Yerbba.com for personalized treatment options and learn more about diagnosis. Your Yerbba Report provides a comprehensive view of all possible treatments, including those that may not have been mentioned by your doctor, and explains why each treatment option was personalized to your health needs.
It is hard to have a rare cancer such as yours. Metaplastic carcinomas represent only 1 in a 1000 breast cancers. They are usually negative for the estrogen and progesterone receptors (ER and PR) and the HER2 protein/gene. Surgery is the correct first treatment. Chemotherapy decision making is based on the stage of the tumor. There are some articles that suggest that, with treatment, the prognosis is the same as for so-called typical breast cancers.
I’ve learned more from you about my breast cancer than I have for my doctor. They don’t say a lot.
