  • A quick look at a historic city, in the northwest of Germany, in the Westphalia region, that is full of charm & culture.
Our walking tour is a look at the highlights of Münster from the Rathaus with its Hall of Peace (Friedenssaal), across to 13th-century Münster Dom, also known as St. Paulus Cathedral, with its 16th-century Astronomical Clock that we can hear chiming. A short stroll before we reach the Überwasserkirche, and the streets that double as the set of the popular German TV detective series “Wilsberg”.
We then explore the lanes of Kreuzstraße with its many bars before heading back to St Lamberti Church, and discover more of the city including stunning views from café “1648” before checking out the exquisite interior of Clemenskirche.
We then return to Prinzipalmarkt and onto the Carillon (glockenspiel) on Nonhoff House. Then we touch on the places of interest you will want to visit if you are staying in Münster, such as the LWL - Museum for Art and Culture, Stadtmuseum Münster and the Pablo Picasso museum.
We end up our visit with the Tower Keeper of Münster and climbing the 300 steps of St Lamberti Church, but it was well worth it.
Thanks so much for watching, and we'd love to hear from you so please leave a comment and don't forget to subscribe so you don't miss any of our travels: 🟢-

Recently been here and its quite a nice city. One can not help but wonder though about what it must have looked like before WWII. Almost nothing from before remains. Its a tragic story really. Ive read that the Bishop was not the greatest fan of the Nazi's. The party "rewarded" him by locating 3 full army divisions and a military HQ to the city. This of course put it firmly on to the map of the Allied bombers later in the war, leaving about 95% of the city destroyed when the hostilities were concluded. Although they did their best to recreate a lot of it, and from a distance it does look quite convincing, im sorry to say that its obviously nothing like the real thing must have been. Still a very pleasant place with lots of things that did survive, including of course things like the culture and kitchen!

Sander, agree with you, the war changed everything, and when you see the destruction after the war, it's truly horrific. You've got me thinking now, because obviously Prinzipalmarkt has been rebuilt in a traditional style, but behind the Rathaus you have the much more modern, post-war reconstruction. Without the war, what would it have looked like?
I have to say we love Münster, fond memories of warm welcomes and friendly smiles. It's a unique place in Germany; it's a bike capital, a place where the car is not king.
Glad you enjoyed our little video; thanks for taking the time to comment.
      Regards,
      Gary & Janis

@@OurWorldForYou Well thank you for making it, it was nice to watch and refelct on my own visit. And any place where you can get a fresh and hot schnitzel sandwich for a couple of euro's in a local supermarket gets a thumbs up in my book!

Sander, Now that sounds fabulous. Have you been during the Christmas Markets? They were superb, I do have a video on it, but I'm not sure about the audio, so it may get a '22 remix to correct that. We have has some great nights too with a bite at Altes Gasthaus Leve and the Gaststätte Pinkus Müller (okay, the beer may have led me here!)
That why I love travel, memories, and Münster has created some great ones.
      Cheers,
      Gary & Janis
