PARALLAX album full lore/story theory summary:
In Hiding in the Blue, (Chapter 1) the female protagonist with a sword is now floating above the clouds to seek shelter from the mechanical monsters and demons who tried hunting her down in the past. It is revealed that she was a soldier in the rebellion's efforts against Heaven's giant machines that invaded and ravaged her home planet of Arcadia.
(The rest of the album is a flashback that starts back when Arcadia was still peaceful.)
In Arcadia (Chapter 2), Laura is together with a loved one on her peaceful home planet of Arcadia. This may be the same person she was mourning the death of in Monody. This is a flashback prior to the disaster that is about to occur, ruining the planet with the arrival of an orb in…
In Pride and Fear (Chapter 3), the once beautiful and prosperous planet of Arcadia suddenly is met by the arrival of the mysterious orbs. Those controlling the orbs give promises of peace and a bounty of something in exchange for something "owed" (possibly natural resources), but the promise is never kept, as they never "planted or sowed". The orbs also have the ability to instill certain emotions, like pride, fear, and greed into the people of the planet. Eventually, Arcadia will become empty and abandoned, haunted by the souls of those who died from the demons and monsters sent by the antagonist.
In Upwind (Chapter 4), a navy is formed to fight back against the orbs by those who are aware of their threat, and Cape Guy (different from Hoodie Man/Chris) is now leaving to enlist. Sword Girl is saying goodbye to him for the last time, since she is not on the deck of the ship. Also, note the definition of “Upwind”, according to Oxford Languages via Google, which is “in the opposite direction to that in which the wind is blowing; against the wind”. In the artwork, Cape Guy is literally moving in the opposite direction to the wind (as evident by the direction his cape is flapping against the clouds), or upwind. The ships are warships since they are equipped with weaponry.
In Our Song (Chapter 5), Sword Girl has been waiting a long time for Cape Guy to return from war as the storm grows near, birds start to flee, and winter arrives. The trees start to “turn to stone”, like possibly in Monody and in the other instances that the Storm might have occurred, and she feels herself barely clinging on to life. The village now has advanced technology, maybe given to it by the orbs, with antennae-topped skyscrapers.
In Violet Sky (Chapter 6), Sword Girl has a vision of her home with Cape Guy, so she goes back to the holy place where she lived together with Cape Guy, only to find that it has been destroyed by a mechanical demon. The air has turned the color violet, filled with electricity.
In Warbringer (Chapter 7), Sword Girl, determined to fight back against the demon, finds a mechanical gorilla suit to climb into (indicated by the ladder in front of it) to use as she decides to wage war against the invaders.
In Fire (Chapter 8), Sword Girl uses the mech to fight against the demon as a city is under siege by attacks from the sky.
In Love It When You Hurt Me (Chapter 9), as the two mechs are fighting, Sword Girl starts to realize who is in the demon mech: Cape Guy. “I don’t think I’d make it if you ever did desert me” is foreshadowing that he will probably leave her behind in the next chapter. The deeper voice at the start may be from the perspective of a brainwashed Cape Guy or Sword Girl. Anjulie said during the Q&A for this song that it was about surrender. So, Sword Girl may be surrendering in the fight with Cape Guy in this song.
Let Love Win (Chapter 10), starts with a symbolic auditory rewind of the entire album with sounds and instruments from each of the songs as TV static is heard. In this chapter, after a long time fighting, both mechs are on the ground, defeated. The demon mech’s eyes are no longer glowing red, indicating that it is dead. Sword Girl tries to reach Cape Guy, and for him to remember who she really was, a loved one, despite the brainwashing/propaganda of the antagonists “TV screens” and the “sad machine” that caused him to destroy their home and attack their home planet. Cape Guy and Sword Girl are standing on top of each of their mechs, as Sword Girl makes a bittersweet plea to him to stay and live with her in peace. She still has “fever dreams”, or visions of her past, as she can’t let go of what happened that made her have to say goodbye to Cape Guy.
So, what happens next? We're not yet sure, but TheFatRat has indicated that he is already working on his next album, which might be paired with a comic of some kind.

I like how TheFatRat's songs actually have melodies, and real chord progressions. It's not just electronic drumbeats, and one minor chord, it's multiple chords, and multiple beats. You can tell that he puts his heart into making these songs.

The whole album is more like a couple's journey through the bittersweets of a relationship, it can be seen from the title of each song and it can be seen that the woman tries to maintain their relationship by defeating the giant which is actually a reflection of the man's emotions.
That's from my perception but whatever it is this album is amazing, thank you ;)

Before this comment i was like I ve seen all 10 pixel art of the album and still cant tell what is the story? 2 person (friends/lovers) were close to each other at first, then one left, got a robot and start wrecking things, the other person got a robot as well, then they proceed to beat the crap out of the other, destroy both the bots, and now they re cool?

A 2 month circle came to its end.

The first time I heard this song after watching the initial release I pretty much had a breakdown moment and cried. I was going through a lot at the time, and was under immense stress between my girlfriend breaking up with me, and my (at the time) shitty job. Truly a great song, I had to come back to it at a later date and listen to it again because it had been on my mind in recent days.

@@abyss-_-4673 invention is when someone creates something. Discovery is when something has existed long before we knew about it. We discovered music, but took advantage of it's abilities. Everything vibrates at a frequency, even the most silent things in the universe. We found out about these frequencies and made music from them. It's kinda hard to explain, but there is a song going on right now as we type. As a person is humming a lullaby to put their child to sleep, another on the other side of the world is creating the rhythm by practicing their tap dancing like they do everyday. The whole world, everything in this universe is vibrating, even singing, and very few of us have took that into consideration.
I love how TheFatRat puts his heart into his songs. He doesn't just play random notes. His music has meaning to it, and I can tell that he really cares about his stuff.

You have no idea how these songs helped me cope up with depression, hearing these songs was like getting out of long dark tunnel and finally seeing the light of the sun again. Thanks to TheFatRat and his music! Would be grateful to him for the rest of my life. Was really a huge inspiration, for me these were my song of triumph and victory over those hardships in my life.
P.S: All TheFatRat songs are special for me, but this one is absolutely emotional.

Before TheFatRat's music, I'd never experienced what is was like to just ~vibe~ and realize that hating myself used up more effort than just relaxing and appreciating any little good thing that I could enjoy. Inadequacy, fear, resentment, and always feeling like there was no point in doing anything -- when I listened to songs like Time Lapse, Xenogenesis, Windfall, and Unity, I could just disappear into my imagination and do the best I could, and found out that I might not be the best, but usually I can do a good job (with homework, keeping my home clean, working at a job, etc.), and that's changed my life.
I'm gonna miss my TheFatRat friday's, but in other hand, the album it's gonna be finnaly complete!

So far, the story goes like this,
In Chapter 1(Hiding in the Blue), the empire of Arcadia have been overrun by a demon invasion and our Female Protagonist survived and took refuge in a sky island. She was a soldier in the legions, who fought to defend her home but ultimately lost the war. Distraught over the destruction of her home, she reminisce her past life in Arcadia and the adventures she used to have. Now, she has waited day and night for a Hero to take her home.
In chapter 2(Arcadia), from the music, the title and the background, it looks like our Female Protagonist is having flashbacks of her past life with The Hero in Arcadia, her home. (But to maintain continuity with chapter 4, i think it would be safe to assume that they are also going to someplace offscreen.)
In Chapter 3(Pride and Fear), our Female Protagonist narrates the history of Arcadia. Once upon a time, Arcadia was a vast and highly prosperous empire. People revered it's glorious legends, and upheld the peace. But greed, pride, and fear slowly started to grow among the people. Eventually, the peace started to fade away, as no one was left to uphold it. Later, Arcadia got invaded by demons ( perhaps to collect the wealth the empire and the people hoarded due to greed). The demons ravaged the lands and now, Arcadia has become a ruin, haunted by the souls of the people who lived here.
In chapter 4(Upwind), from the title, music, and background, it is understood that The Hero and our Female Protagonist has arrived in place which looks a 'Sky-port', and is seen boarding a sky-ship. As the ship is armed with cannons, it is highly likely that they are planning to use sky-ships to take back Arcadia. From the background, it also seems that they are parting their ways, and the hero is going to someplace.
In Chapter 5(Our Song), the hero has left our Female Protagonist and went to war.( the background of chapter 4 is also indicating this plot-line.) She is now holding on for the hero and is waiting while singing their song. ( the lyrics "... da da da da da..." could refer to the tune of the song they used to sing together. This also indicates that she already knew the hero before chapter 1, which was also hinted in chapter 2.) Now, the seasons have passed and winter has come. She is still holding out for him. Whenever she misses him, she wishes that the hero would wake her with a kiss.( This indicates that they have a close relationship with each other.)
In Chapter 6(Violet Sky), from the lyrics and the background, it is understood that our Female Protagonist has left the place where she and The Hero had parted ways. Now, it seems that she is going back to Arcadia, her home, to join the war. The lyrics "This is getting heavy but I carry on" indicates that ,despite the odds, she is continuing her journey. The background indicates that after reaching Arcadia, she has witnessed a colossal demon.
In Chapter 7(Warbringer), it is seen that our Female Protagonist is going inside a Colossal Mech, that is, a robot.( This could indicate that the demon she saw in chapter 6 is also a mech and she has noticed it.) Now, it seems that she plans to use this colossal mech in the war for Arcadia. The lyrics also point out that our Female Protagonist and her allies had suffered enough and is bringing the war to the demons.
In chapter 8(Fire), from the music and the background, it is seen that there is going to be a battle between our Female Protagonist's mech, which is the robot she found in chapter 7, and the colossal demon, seen in chapter 6 ( which could also be a mech, hinted by the electric-like currents flowing through its chest).
In Chapter 9( Love it when you hurt me), from the background, it is seen that an epic battle between Our Female Protagonist's mech and the colossal demon mech is undergoing in the ruins of a city, which I think is Arcadia. Both the mechs look quite damaged from the battle.
( I can't quite make any accurate summary from the lyrics, but I have two theories regarding the lyrics.
First one is that our Female Protagonist is thinking about her beloved, The Hero, during the battle.
Second one is that the lyrics signify some connection between The Hero and the colossal demon mech she is fighting, that is, he is the one controlling the demon mech. In that case, he might be bewitched or cursed and doesn't know that he is fighting his beloved. Our Female Protagonist might be aware of this and perhaps she is also trying to free him from his curse.
The second theory makes more sense, as there are two mechs, one controlled by our Female Protagonist, and the two halves of the lyrics are sung by a male and a female singer, suggesting that the second mech might be controlled by The Hero.)
In Chapter 10( Let Love Win ), from the background and the lyrics, it seen that the battle between our Female Protagonist's mech and the colossal demon mech has finished, with both the mechs lying heavily damaged on the ground. In the aftermath of the battle, she and The Hero is standing on top of the mechs ( which also indicates that it was him who was controlling the demon mech). Now, she is asking him not to give in to the "sad machines" and to the " TV screens" ( which indicates that there are greater antagonistic forces at play) and let their love for each other prevail (which indicates that he was indeed brainwashed) . She is still having "Fevered dreams", that is the flashbacks, and here in the ruins of Arcadia their home, she is asking him for another moment of endearment with him, no matter where it would lead them.
(The way the story ends, it feels like there is going to be another album which continues the story of 'Parallax'. It's been a wonderful musical journey so far. Thank you, TheFatRat, for this magical journey. 💙💚🧡💙💗💜💙💜🧡💙)

TheFatRat I love you and your songs and the story you create through your songs. When this album was fully released, I searched for the theory of the whole story, including the previous songs that weren't on this album. When I know the plot, I listen to your music while watching the animation and imagine the story in this album, it feels very real... I feel like I'm playing a game and playing the female lead.When I watch the last chapter "Let Love Win", listen. the music is so emotional, touching and there is a sadness, like not knowing where this is going, I can also almost see their love for each other. Thanks to TheFatRat for creating great songs and giving me an unforgettable feeling. (I even created a playlist for this album on RUclips :D , and I will forever be your fan TheFatRat!).

this is what i think the albums story is. WARNING, this does use many of the artworks for the songs as description
We will start with the song "Arcadia" where we see two people, presumably lovers, standing by a lake/pond looking at what is probably Arcadia. Now I believe that "Arcadia" is a visual representation of what the two feel when they are together. Happiness, love, and a feeling as if nothing bad is happening in the world.
This is where it gets a little more complicated. In "Hiding in the blue" we hear the main protagonist mention being a soldier that fought against demons. I believe that this is referencing to her lover, who has begun to struggle within himself and fighting inner "demons". The fact that the main Character mentions fighting against those demons may mean that she was trying to help her lover through it.
Next we see in the artwork for "upwind" that the MC's lover is on a flying ship presumably going to fight these "demons". Note that the main character is NOT on the ship with him, possibly meaning that he is growing distant from his lover due to his internal struggles.
"Hiding in the blue" has artwork that I believe happens almost directly after "Upwind" saying that she feels like Arcadia is lost due to her lover not being there to help her defend it.
In "our song" we see the MC standing on a snowy cliff, note that this story initially begins in what we can presume to be summer. This artwork hints at the amount of time that has passed since her lover left, and the fact that she is standing there staring into the distance possibly means that she is still waiting for him to return.
Next we have "violet sky". When the Main character finally returns to Arcadia after what we can assume is a year due to the fact that it is once again lush green. Only to see that Arcadia has been destroyed by a giant mechanical creature.
In "warbringer" we see the main character standing in front of a different mech, presumably to battle the mech that had destroyed her home.
Now we have "fire" and in this art we see the two mechs about to face off against each other.
In "love it when you hurt me" we see the two mech battle, and we can see the visual toll of what the battle has done to each of them. Both mechs have hanging wires and we can see that the bad mech has a bent horn and is missing an arm.
Finally in "let love win" we see the two mechs have finally stopped fighting due to them both being heavily damaged. and on top we see the main protagonist and her lover, both on their respective mechs head. I believe that the entire story and fictional world of Arcadia is actually a visual representation of the hardships and pain that the two go through. The mechs represent two things: for the main character is represents unconditional love. For the other character it represents the corruption that the pain he goes through causes in him, thus explaining why his mech has horns and is significantly more menacing then that of the MC's. The damage that each mech takes during the battle represents the difficulty that the MC goes through trying to help her lover, and it also yet again shows the immense pain that her lover is in. As the name of the final song suggests, the artwork represents that love is stronger than hate and pain, and as long as you have someone who will love you and support you unconditionally, you can fight through anything.

The first few songs have a feeling of a war on the verge of breaking out, but this song is more partial to the end of the war and everything is back to normal. There is a sense of calm, but it is not weak and the tone is well controlled.

Honestly, this has been the best 10 weeks of my life. Thats not a joke. I loved coming home from school every Friday to find a brand new chapter. I'd never heard a song that makes me cry, or even a movie in fact. I'm not particularly emotional, but I do get goosebumps a lot when listening to my favourite songs.
I've not listened to this one for a while now. I always knew that this one, hit me differently, from the minute I heard it. I just listened to it now and from the very first second I knew I was going to get emotional. I cried my eyes out. It made me remember all the memories I made with my dad, when we went out in the summers together. It brought flashbacks of every cherished moment of my life. I'm not sure why but they were so vivid. A song has never hit me so hard in my life. I've said it many times on this channel before and I'll say it again: you are fricking awesome Chris. You have an exceptional talent, and you can do so much that other musicians can not. I've been listening for years and years now, right from Time Lapse. Kind'a sad that all these precious moments are coming to an end, Would have loved to keep expecting one such masterpiece song every Friday... Everyone wants to live the enjoyable moments forever, BUT REALITY IS VERY HARSH... nothing is endless..EVERYTHING HAS AN END..This is a vision I can't get in terms of even today.. Feel pain of sorrow in the heart.. and in the bottom of my stomach. It would again mean 4 - 5 months without any such TheFatRat MASTERCLASS.
I don’t think you’ll have to wait _that_ long. The only reason it took so long this time is because he had to make ten songs and have them _all_ ready and lined up to release before the first one could. Not to mention the fact that he had COVID-19 for a short time, so the resulting quarantine slowed things down a bit. So it’ll probably only be a month or so before he starts pushing out regular singles again. Or we could have _another_ album, back-to-back; who knows?
At least we have ten incredible new songs to keep us company.

Looking back almost one year later of the release of "Hiding in the blue" some of my thoughts on how the story goes changed a bit, here's how I think it goes Chronologically:
Arcadia and Pride and Fear are both flashbacks of the main problem. Arcadia was a town of warriors who lived in peace and harmony until monsters made of gold/demons came and invaded the city. The main protagonist (We'll call her Alessia for now) found herself in the war and fought against them. She, unfortunately, had to refuge on a floating island (From hiding in the blue) And stayed there for months until The male character (We'll call him Marcus for now) Found her using the floating airship, he brought her back to land using the airship and went "Upwind". He left Alessia and went to the war.
Alessia waited for him to return but it'd been months and he still hadn't returned. The ending of the fifth song "Our song" hinted at Alessia and Marcus being romantically involved with each other. Alessia decided to venture back to Arcadia (What was left of it), everything was violet and tense. Alessia was stressed and feeling tense but she grabbed her sword and went to fight the mech she'd seen destroying Arcadia.
By then Alessia and the other Arcadians had enough, they didn't want to wait out the war anymore, they tried to bring the war to them. Alessia found an unused mech near Arcadia and decided to use it.
She entered it and fought the other mech, who she didn't know was one who she deeply cared about. Hence the song "Love it when you hurt me" where you can hear two voices singing (Male and Female) About the fighting.
The two mechs fought till dawn. Until they were both crushed, defeated. Alessia stood in front of the other mechs controller, Marcus, her love. He appeared to be in a different state, Alessia sang to him to bring the old him back, persuading him to come back to her.

My favorite part of this amazing song is the ending. How it sounds like an old music box that has stopped being cranked. Almost like Ever Strong (Sword Girl/Laura) was winding the box to remember her lover and how she lost him and remembering his end stops her from cranking
I feel as if I have found a new theme song for Gemini, Knight of the Rose. She represents the genre of romance literature. Love is so much more than just romance though, it's the connection between people. It's powerful, passionate, resonating with the human soul in a way that I feel often only music can properly express and resonate with. Chapter 2: the valkyrie talking about her race and what happened
Chapter 5: demon woman crying cause his husband left to fight the valkyries
Chapter 7: the husband leading the army trying to bring down the valkyries
Valkyries killed some demons that are evil but they got corrupted by killing so much they killed many other demons, so the demons got scared and angry so they hid and trained and got revenge, the only survivor of the valkyries trained in a floating island so she can take revenge, war ended, demons win but their leader died(husband of the one in chapter 5)
Chapter 9: valkyrie survivor rampaging killing any demon it sees
Chapter 10: wife of demon general trying to calm the raging valkyrie
