It's awesome. Moved down south from Skem as a boy in 1978, I just thought of this place today. I never knew what it was or called. Always impressed me.
Thanks for the sub. I flew over last September, video is on here showing the full roof collapse on one wing. Everything else is still in the same condition with no planning for any further demolition etc. I think the owners are just letting it sit. I’ll probably do another flight before we get into summer.
@@1974bazzaaa So i guess they are just leaving it to rot just exact same as Pool Parc hospital. I have been to St Josephs and never been able to get inside . might take a trip up once the better weather sets in. Looking forward to seeing your drone footage .
@@annbarns652 pretty much, hoping that they’ll force the planning through at some stage but it’s probably too late to save it now….ten years ago it’d be salvageable I think. I went inside in 2020 and some of it is stunning…..the chapel is amazing…and its water tight too so no damage from the elements
Highly unlikely. In most probability the remaining parts will continue to deteriorate for many years to come until they are knocked down or a redevelopment is allowed on the condition that the wider green space is allowed to be built upon.
@@simonsanigar3581 I’d love to be wrong but there’s no evidence either from the owners or through planning applications to do anything else at the moment. I’m planning to go back and do an update video in a few weeks.
Sad. So sad.... Remember the plan that Archbishop Worlock went out to consultation to All interested parties. Opposition was staggering. We were determined to save Upholland....
I agree, so much history in the place alongside architecture that you won’t see in modern buildings. I personally love hearing stories about the place.

It’s got so much to it…hidden away from the road. I’ve been in once but I’d love to replicate that if the opportunity ever arose

Explored in here a few years back in 2016 before the big fences went up
Would’ve loved to have done it then, so much history!
its a crime to history
People dont give a crap about old buildings Ive come to notice. I think at first they have more money than sense.
I agree, they’d rather pay a fortune to demolish them and build cheap modern homes than spend time investing in the heritage. All about the money!
It's the later additions that they've knocked down.
Yep,hopefully that’s where the demolition will stop then at least some of it can potentially be saved.
About time they started this.
The demolition you mean?
No its not this building is amazing .
I couldn’t agree more
Skated on the lake in 1963 when I attended the seminary as a student priest.I left after 1 year and pursued other pathways
So does this mean now something good will become of it?
Highly unlikely. In most probability the remaining parts will continue to deteriorate for many years to come until they are knocked down or a redevelopment is allowed on the condition that the wider green space is allowed to be built upon.

@@user-rm2nb7zq4m Would’ve been such a different place today had the opposition not been there. Such a stunning building.
So sad to see. My old school.n
