Prisons hold people who have been tried in a court. Concentration camps hold people, of a particular ethnicity, in inhumane conditions, with no trial in court.

I never knew there was an internationally 'acceptable' level for collateral damage (5%). Cameron said Israel might be using a figure of 20% for targetting, yet Northern Gaza has been completely oblitered. We've all seen the pictures. A month ago Israel had destroyed 100,000 building's, killed 5000 hamas fighters, and 15,000 civilians. 20 buildings destroyed and 3 civilians killed (half being children) for every hamas fighter is not 20% collateral damage. It is abhorrent.
I agree with your point. I would just add that it is highly unlikely they have killed 5000 Hamas fighters that would mean almost every adult male killed to date belonged to Hamas!!! And we have repeated claims that Hamas are being beaten and they (IDF) are only withdrawing so their troops can prop up their economy. Yeah sure.
It's almost as if the "collateral damage" was actually the point. And it's almost as if Cameron is fully aware of that, and the only thing that's bothering him is that he has to lie about it.
It is a war, Israel was attacked. Gazans supported those who perpetrated those attacks and call for the obliteration of Israel. If the boot was on the other foot, the world and the hand wringers would let it happen. Palestinians are the cause for those who want to fight against victimhood to feel good. Nope they are not 'occupied'. It is a fantasy created to convince Palestinians that they could one day kill all the jews and take over the land. It's never going to happen and their leaders know it.
“Lord” Cameron also doesn’t seem to understand that - under international law - an occupying force has no right to “self-defence” anyway - the whole justification of his support for Israel. That woman was phenomenal at holding him to account and the embodiment of leadership ability! Protect her at all costs!✨👏🏽🔑
It is literally his job, Sunak brought him back (in my eyes illegally since he was not a elected official, also known as ‘not wanted’) as Foreign Secretary to know and to answer these questions and yet he turns up to enquiry and clearly doesn’t want to answer the questions, whether he knows the answers or not! He really is a disgrace.
U know what is really shocking? They think we dont read or know the subject. The arrogance! The Israel Palestine issue is one of the most well written subject on the planet.
To think that David Cameron, in the role of Foreign Secretary, thinks that he won't be asked about the conditions under which the Government stance will change towards Israel in a Foreign Affairs Committee hearing but then will go away and have a think about it demonstrates how ill-equipped he is to hold the post
At the same time, Israel will watch these responses and if he steps out of line they could simply cut him off completely. I don't say what's right or wrong, nor claim i know what's going on behind the scenes... however wasting chances to speak with and influence Israel because of a publicly broadcasted hearing seems like a poor strategy. Of course we, the people, would love for representation to take solid and hard stances, but it's not always the best approach when it comes to diplomacy.
The legal advice given to the government was : The UK could be complicit in war crimes in Gaza and could face legal action if it does not do more to "restrain" Israel, instead of defending and justifying Israelis genocide of Palestinians
Yes, the lady took Cameron's side kick to task when he tried to slither, she placed the responsibility of 'knowing the details' squarely back on his shoulders when he tried to acquiesce to her statement, making it clear that the validity of her statement wasn't because it was the chair saying it but that it was established fact and he should know it already.
He's a civil servant, not a lawyer, but your point stands, he didn't want to answer directly. Why? As it exposes the government's position and makes it clear there is a gap between what the government wants to say in public and what they think is actually happening.
This is a preemptive strike on the upcoming ICJ proceedings where Israel will face the same questions from South Africa/ICJ bench. The big dress rehearsal for nations complicit in genocide.

Alicia Kearns, and I'd agree, she's excellent. She beat Ian Duncan-Smith and Liam Fox for the role. Thank God. The Conservatives hold the chair off the Foreign Affairs Select Committee, and she was a bit of a surprise winner. But I have to say she's been excellent.
I love how he keeps saying he doesn't know as if though it isn't literally his job to know and to some extent even come up with the position of the UK government. Of course this is just to avoid being complicit, but it's bizarre that the government can just not answer parliament's questions at all when there is a clear yes or no position to be had.
David is the best person Sunak could've brought back to accelerate the downward trend of British credibility. They should just bring back Tony Blair because most of Europe blindly follows the US and it's sad to see the decay in British politics even if it is from us that were colonised by them. Anyway, David avoided most questions on what's currently happening in Gaza but was quick to answer about settler violence in the West Bank because it's a US talking and as usual, Britain is always in lock step with the US. When it comes to reconstruction, the Arab should not and I believe will not help in the reconstruction of Gaza because it should be the responsibility of Israel.
Tony Blair is busy in his new role, he has been brought in by Israel as the "voluntary" migration of Gazans adviser for the day after the war. Despicable
@@dianamincher6479although I didn't agree with Starmer's stance on this matter, the Labour Party are not in power, so their views have no weight to change Israel's tactics and stop the horrors in Gaza.
But they soon will be in power and Starmer (basically just a Blair proxy) will be just as bad as the rotten Tories with no change in sight for British establishment foreign policy (basically just stand side by side with the US on everything). The only saving grace is that a minority of old labour MPs have at least stood up for the Palestinian plight. Small crumbs of morality I guess.
Cameron is so slippery. Clearly if Israel switched off the water, As an occupying power then is is surely guilty of collective punishment. And British law considers Israel as the occupying power. And surely it would be remiss of the lawyers to not give Cameron advice on Israel’s position with respect to international law. Great job on holding the slippery barsteward to account
He also states it's just the human thing to do to switch the water back on, does that mean Israeli govt is not human ? The "most humane army in the world"? Even on illegal settler violence, everyone knows it is continuing with impunity & full support of Israeli Govt, he said as much himself. Then why does he need to go away & think about it?
Doesn’t matter if you are a lawyer, sir. When a person is murdered in your town, even you and your everyday non-lawyer Neighbours and friends know that a crime has been committed. The criteria for war crimes is very straightforward….
Easy questions If hamas have to be removed then why doesn't the Israeli govt. also have to be removed ? They funded hamas, they are responsible for thousands more deaths and responsible now for ethnic cleansing and their ongoing occupation The entire Israeli govt. should be removed or face sanctions. Then we can talk about hamas
Omg! Customer as Best Buy manager, "should the pair of speakers that you sell to me able to make sound?" answer, " I don't know I am not an engineer". 🤔🤔🤔. these politicians cannot trust anyone of them
What sickens me most is when people who have children of their own, have the ability to detach themselves from the thought process of being able to think for a second of how they would feel if (god forbid) such atrocities would/could happen to their much loved children. But even worse than that, is utter selfishness and self centred mentality, of those that know the pain of losing a child of their own, yet still refuse to make a link between the pain they suffered, and that of thousands of people in Palestine who have also lost their beloved children. Nor are those people willing to take a very small mental leap and put themselves in the skin of those who are still terrified every second of everyday that they may lose their treasured child/ren. We have listened to one such person in this interview. I remember being so saddened to hear of his loss at the time, even though I was certainly not of the same political persuasion. He should be even more ashamed than the level of shame he should carry professionally. He should be utterly ashamed as a parent and a man. I lost my 11 year old, oldest granddaughter some time back. She died very suddenly of a cerebral aneurysm, without warning. Without any prior symptoms. One minute she was here, laughing, dancing, singing, creating story’s, and making Plays of them for all of us to watch, she loved to learn about the world and in the classroom. The next minute she had gone. The light of our lives was dimmed forever. We will never recover from our loss. Hence, whenever I hear of yet more children being killed in this atrocity, or a child dying under any circumstances, it sharpens up those feelings of loss and pain again. The thought of so many parents having that shock, denial, anguish, pain and searching their hearts for answers, trying to find ways to keep going, breaks my heart. This is a pain I would do anything to prevent others from suffering. But how you begin to cope with that pain, knowing your dear child died because someone else has killed them intentionally , is a pain I just can’t even imagine how someone copes with. It is beyond my imagination. Yet there is someone who could do things to prevent more slaughter but that person, and others won’t. Surely, next to caring for their own family, this should be the most important thing in their life? To prevent the death of children, and their innocent parents is something they can and should be proud of for the rest of their life. The children of those people will also be very proud of their relative. I hope and pray that those who are in the privileged position of being able to assist in the process of a ceasefire, or peace, wherever it might be taking place, especially where babies and children are being hurt, will do so, and quickly. My love and thoughts of hope, and prayers are with all those who have lost children, especially those who have lost them through hate and war. May peace and understanding come very soon. Teresa.
The images of children buried in rubble pains me deeply, as parent myself I can’t imagine not doing anything to quell such a calamity to anyone regardless of race and beliefs .
Exactly!Yet Israelis, who paint themselves as victims here, are openly mocking the death of children and civilians in Gaza….and it’s a wide spread sentiment which just shows how utterly despicable and imoral Israeli society is
Teresa. I have not suffered a loss as you have but 50 years ago, holding my first baby in my arms, I listened to horror stories from Cambodia and made a pledge that every child all over the world should not go unnoticed and was as precious as my own. I read and appreciate your comment and express my condolences for the loss of your granddaughter.
Let’s just ignore the fact that Israel is an occupying power and therefore Hamas has the right to exist as legitimate resistance under international law.
Exactly, and I’m pretty sure no French Resistance fighters were prosecuted at Nuremberg for their crimes against the occupiers during WW2. But it’s ok to be an occupier if you’re Israel apparently.
"What Israel can do tomorrow": end occupation. That is what is needed. Gaza is and has been occupied territory for a very long time. Israel have controlled food, medicin, building material, electricity, water and even internet in Gaza. It has been the biggest open air prison camp in the world. If that is not an occupation, I do not know what occupation is. Where is the international law in writing that gives Israel "the right to defend itself". There is none. Where is it written that the occupier has the right to defend itself from the people that are being occupied? On the other hand there are scores of international documents that give the occupied people the right to fight for their freedom.

Yea with all the Israeli politicians…
Irrespective of the selective hypocrisy of their supporters,.
Why did Palestinians vote for Hamas and not hospitals?

Despicable

The problem with our politicians is that they don’t understand English.
Well put. Half of Gazas population are children. People still defending Israels war against children are vile.
Exactly!Yet Israelis, who paint themselves as victims here, are openly mocking the death of children and civilians in Gaza….and it’s a wide spread sentiment which just shows how utterly despicable and imoral Israeli society is
You wonder if they sleep peacefully at night

‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️
Exactly, and I’m pretty sure no French Resistance fighters were prosecuted at Nuremberg for their crimes against the occupiers during WW2. But it’s ok to be an occupier if you’re Israel apparently.
The squirming is because it is uncomfortable to defend the indefensible.
Why does everyone keep saying that Israel has the right to defend itself? What about the Palestinians? Can't they defend themselves as well?
palestinians voted for billionare Hamas, and not for hospitals, why?
