He's probably the coolest of the younger players, definitely one of the best long potters. He'll watch this and be thinking "I never knew I did half of that!"
That's a really good idea - all your regulars would definitely appreciate it. I was intrigued by your observation of the slight elbow lift and I gave it a go yesterday - oh my! I was cueing a bit too nice, it really does work! 😁
Another insightful and careful analysis that can only come from long experience and many hours poring over old footage. It's impressive how you find stuff from all the major names, and some of the 'minor' names on the other tours. Well done!
I love this series. As a pool player with similar technique, it’s exciting to see people discover extra mechanics as something not to be talked down to. Greetings from Sierra Madre, California.
I've recently discovered your videos after getting back into snooker/cue sports. Your videos are informative and well put together. Greetings from Ulysses, Kansas (USA)
This is Amir from IRAN. I love this channel and the way you explain and share such great experience. Would be appreciated to explain two cushion snooker scape also. How to calculate the angels in real game. Many thanks Cheers!
One thing about Jack’s technique which I feel he does different to the main tour is when he’s playing shots with a lot of action (not necessarily power) but a lot of screw for example - his cue bounces off his bridge hand after impact. You see this with other players at times but it’s quite pronounced with Jack.
Interesting stuff. I've always used a similar grip, releasing all fingers, apart from the index finger and thumb on the the back-swing, then gripping it again on the forward motion before contact. For me it's to keep the cue level, and avoid a "scooping" motion that you can get from gripping the cue too tightly with all fingers.
Glad you made a video on this. His cue action is the best in the game. It's just a shame hes a very immature player and has a long way to come, If he does he could be world #1 easily. Judd was the same, Became mature and started winning. Jack needs to follow.
@@irnickkkknowles Robbo's action is mechanical perfection no doubt. But the reason Jack's is special is how fluid it is, How natural everything happens. He doesn't force anything. Watch the difference between Jacks and Robbo's deep screw. Taking nothing away from Robbo of course but it's mechanical. And that isn't a bad thing of course.
Very informative videos, learnt alot by watching your videos related to cue actions of different players. Also, love the series when you try one of the best shots from the tournaments. Greetings from Romania, Piatra Neamt
I think Jack and Ronnie are the only players on tour that have virtually the same technique. The only difference being one is primarily left handed, and the other is right handed.
Please analyse David Gilbert’s cue action. It’s one of the most admired on tour and his his grip and bridge will give you loads of material to work with.
i feel like everybody has a slightly different bridge hand cus everybody has different fingers (some ppl have lanky long fingers, some ppl have slightly curved or bent fingers etc) great video as usual tho
Jack is excellent! He's a great potter and has a great feel for the tables he plays on. In my opinion, he does seem to have an approach closer to a pool player rather than a snooker player. His choices of shots and his position play resemble a pool player. Either way, his talent and style is unmatchable.
Mark Selby would be one that I'd love to see you do a video on! I was surprised to not see his bridge technique on your unusual techniques video as he does what I like to call his "spock" technique :)
Unfortunately no, I was playing a lot of players that are now pros a long time ago. Basically I was just about good enough to win about 1 frame in 4 against the players who get close to qualifying through cue school
@@Breakfromlife Wow…you certainly know your stuff! I used to play a bit but not to a high standard..love watching the snooker and go to the Northern Ireland open every year. Also met the hurricane one night in a dodgy pub! Rik👍
Very insightful. Jack has an amazing technique. Hopefully he can start living up to his potential. On the note of lifting the elbow/body during delivery, this is something I found myself doing a few years back. It turned out I was dropping my elbow during the follow through and was quite often whacking my hand on the edge of the table so I think I was subconsciously lifting up to avoid doing that. I also found I had started cueing down into the table (rather than parallel with it), probably for the same reason. Not saying that is what is what is happening with Jack but it is one possibility.
Suppose the difference is that I doing the thing like Ronnie and Shaun in your video where I was dropping the cue away from my chin, whereas (as you pointed out) Jack doesn’t do that so much.
Ronnie drops the elbow which allows him to get thorough the ball much more so the tip is effectively in contact with the cue ball that bit longer so increases his shot control and feel. Textbooks teach dropping the elbow is wrong but if it works for u keep doing it
Jack is a very talented young player, I think maybe enhanced by the fact him and trump are best mates off and on the table, I think he just needs to find that extra gear in latter stages of tournaments and a bit more consistency and he could really start to thrive. Plays the game in a really positive way and he's always a player to watch regardless of who or what he's playing in.
I really hope Jack wins a triple crown. He’s so fun to watch and good for snooker. But he needs to polish up on his defence/safety play a bit more. He can outscore many of the top players on his day but when it gets to a tactical battle he is still quite far against the top players imo. I remember Judd being the same, if not way better when he was first on the scene and it almost was working for him at times coz he did win a UK early on but never won a masters and worlds till later. And that year he did win, he became so much more polished as a player and is so much harder to beat now even if it’s the tactical side of the game and he still has his brand of naughty snooker. I hope it kicks in for Jack because there is no doubt that he is capable of winning the big ones.
Props player. Hope wins plenty + always thought was a bit unique in his style. Just hope that 'inconsistently at times' improves. (But that's 'Snooker' eh)
Jack is a very talented player but I fear, like Matthew Stevens, he will never fulfil his potential in tournament success which would be a massive shame. Some people are saying that he is young but he must now be close to thirty years old and should have achieved so much more. Unlike his big buddy, Trump, in my opinion, Lisowski has never got more shrewd tactically; to me, some of his shot choices are suspect at key moments.
I'm going to be honest. You're assessment of Jack's cue action is completely wrong. I noticed this in the Ronnie cue action assessment and with Shawn's. I like your channel but your cue action assessments of the top players is wildly inaccurate.
Your player analysis are so far off it’s unreal….how you see the things you come up with I have no idea……he doesn’t let the cue go -he doesn’t raise his elbow….pretty much everything you said is nonsense……I thought the Ronny one was bad, but this is worse…..
Jack is a copy cat Ronnie. They way he walks , cue action , cue goes up in the air after delivery etc. Awesome player but his action is not sustainable over long matches. My opinion 😓
Jack has incredible talent and he’s never boring to watch. Just needs to work on the mental side of his game and he’s going to win big titles
Absolutely
Couldn’t agree more
Needs to win a major in a few years really
If he could get to some final without on-form Judd Trump against him
He's probably the coolest of the younger players, definitely one of the best long potters.
He'll watch this and be thinking "I never knew I did half of that!"
🤣🤣🤣👍
Maybe I should have a look at my own technique in the same way and actually find out what I’m doing wrong
That's a really good idea - all your regulars would definitely appreciate it.
I was intrigued by your observation of the slight elbow lift and I gave it a go yesterday - oh my! I was cueing a bit too nice, it really does work! 😁

I’d love to see a video on Alex Higgins cue action ..
Higgins is another player who placed the fingertips of his bridge hand on the cloth
Great player. Thanks for the video. Brad from Winnipeg Canada.
Jack is an exceptional talent, he is like left handed version of Ronnie.
He will be winning BIG soon.
Like to say HELLO from Ocean Grove Australia. 👌

Why don't you play in tournments with professionals ?
Thank you for your amazing content.
Your recreational shots are amazing please make a video on recreational shots plzz from pakistan . 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗

An all round legend. That 3 minute (?) clearance was exceptional

1:42 Shaun clearly takes his pinky off the cue
8:45 go on - how many times did you have to say "and allows him to play shots really accurately like this" :)

Is it due to snooker coaching in becoming more professional has allowed a more intuitive approach? Like golf, your swing is your swing?

This comment might be very late, but his cue action came from his coach Frank Adamson. Which also taught Stephen Lee and Ronnie
