Those dots are great! Thanks so much for not giving up on the enamel dots and finding a new way to make them and sharing.
You just blew my mind woman. Truly you're a national treasure!!!!
Your a very smart woman!!! How you come up with all these great ways to make expensive items for just pennies on the dollar, or FREE!!! Amazing! Thank you so much, for all your great tips😋
I think you are the original "smart and frugal" crafter because you don't buy all this stuff that I bought and now have room full of stuff that does not give me the satisfaction that crafting used to give me when I was poor and had to make everything or make do with what I had on hand. THANK YOU!!
wow! That's the best, easiest, and cheapest way to make enamel dots I have seen. Great Job Lindsay! And they look just like the real thing. I know that's what I will do from now on. thanks for sharing this with us.
Wonderful idea. Last night I was just thinking that I wondered about the off gassing from craft projects and here you are with a tutorial that has no smelly off gassing.
I have to say I have had nothing but success with the DIY enamel dots and have done a couple of process vids but OH I agree with YOU! The matchy smatchyness of your paper "enamel dots" is just prefecto! Thanks for this!
Lindsay, I've got to tell you that EVERYDAY I'm becoming a bigger fan of yours!!!!!!!!!
that is so sweet Pam, thank you:)
thefrugalcrafter . you are SO welcome and I would absolutely love it if you would stop by for a visit at my blog: yorkiemomsblog.blogspot.com/
Omg genius! I dont like using metals or plastic pieces on my scrapbook pages. Im so happy i found you. Makes sense now paper to paper is the best! Thank you so much a new fan of yours.
Lindsey, you are so amazingly clever! And you never let anything stop you. I love the enamel dots, too, but I refuse to pay the exorbitant prices they want for them. I'm going to be doing this very soon!!
Another great idea, a better match to the project AND cheaper!!! Lindsay, you're amazing. Thank you for sharing.
What a grand idea. I have recently fallen prey to those dots so I was thrilled to find out how to make my own. Thanks so much for sharing!
Wow! We bow down to you Queen Lindsay! I just knew there was a more environmentally friendly-ish way to DIY the dots! TFS!
I do love you Lindsay. I knew after that disaster you had that you would not give up until you figured it out and boy did you! They are fabulous and so easy and made to match and everything. Way to go Lindsay. Much better that the other ways.
Lindsay, you are such an inspiration. I have been making mine out of melted pony beads but you are limited to the same size and limited colors. When I first saw you doing this I thought, oh heck no, too time consuming. But you can just sit with paper and punches in front of the TV and work away. They are really pretty too. With the extra coating of Utee it really makes them shine and gives them added dimension so they wont smash down. I really thought I had seen about all of your videos but I keep finding new ones. You are one of my favorite artist to watch and learn from. Big Hugs!!!
Yet again......You amaze me!!!!! I love how your creative mind works!!!
I stumbled on this today and I have to say, this is brilliant!
Really liked your idea for making enamel dots. You always find terrific ways to make things simple and easy . Really love all your tutorials
Lindsay you are a genius, it works perfect . Thank you for sharing such an awesome idea.
U r such an inspirational person. Ty for all your tutorials. Keep em coming.
I use Paper Pens from Viva Decor to make my own enamel dots. They work great and you can make them any size you want. Thanks for the tutorial, very cool idea!
Thanks so much for sharing this! I've wanted enamel dots forever...this is a great solution.
That's a useful technique for unusual coloured dots.
I've had no problem melting pony beads, 15 minutes and done no smell and no mess. I did several tray fulls so I have a bag full ready
What a great idea. I watched A LOT of videos on melting the beads and everyone was saying different temps, pans, etc., but all cautioned about the fumes. I don't need fumes in my home with a very allergic husband and my own sensativity to fragrance. Love that your method has no fumes, or very little anyway, and the dots end up exactly matching your project. Yea!
Thanks also for the tip to use glycerin for clear embossing!
I have never found glycerin.....tried Walmart, CVS, Rite Aid...where else should I look? thanks ! Love all your videos
I did some and you know what : it works !! Of course is does because Lindsay said so !!
In a middle of a flower it looks great and more unusual then a button !!
Thank you once again for a wonderful easy and clever idea !
The flower center sounds great, too!
Lindsey, you are truly fabulous (or AWESOME as you US-ites say lol). As soon as I start playing your videos my husband shouts out 'Hello Fruge!' We're both amazed at how you continually come up with something new - now that is awesome!!!!
Love how you don't give up, and you're so innovative! Way to go!
How clever is this!? Into my favourites it goes! Thanks for sharing. Rebekah
Thank you for posting!!! I couldn't get my beads to melt right. This is sooooooo much better!!!
Thanks for sharing. I think I prefer this method better then melting. Don’t want to tried this in my oven. When warm weather arrives be something to do outside. For now this is best way of using some of my stash in different ways. Plus, I don’t want the fumes. Thanks for the tips. Always a pleasure learning from the tutorial.
Great idea! I love it. Now I know how I'm going to make flower centers -- domed paper with flocking!
Oh my goodness! Look at the crafty brain on you! I'm totally making these.
Thanks for sharing. I forgot that I had the thick embossing powder and was going to try the melt the bead technique but now I don't have to. Love how you show us to work with what we got :)
Love it. I bet you could use a tiny snippet of scrap sookwang tape left over from another project or similar double sidded tape wadded up. I save even the thinnest sliver of that stuff for small items or dimensional effects.
Such healthier alternative than melting plastic, esp for someone like me.
Great way to use up ugly paper using pretty EP too.
Perfect inexpensive embelishments. Love make your owm embelishments!!!
Thanks Lindsey for sharing your experiments, both your winners and you learning sessions too.
I was not expecting that idea at all. That is a cool idea and I have tons of the UTEE. Now I know what I'm doing with it. Thanks for the cool idea!!!
These look much better than the enamel dots that you tried making, even the ones that turned out. I like how they can easily match your project and be cheap. Plus not take up storage space.
Lindsey, your video's are always fun. and full of tips. Thanks for all you do.
AWESOOOOOMMMMEEEEE!!!!! That's great.....now I can make them instead of buying them. Thanks so much for your persistence.
I've been watching you for years and somehow missed this video. Fantastic ideas for the tools too. Thanks for sharing. I saw your link on today's video, 1-6-2019. WooHoo.
U AMAZE ME LINDSAY,
HOW YOU CAN MAKE ANYTHING FROM NOTHING...THATS SUPER CREATIVE AND CLEVER. 😄
CAMILLE AUSTRALIA
I just ran across this and had to try it right away! I used a chopstick as my pick up tool. I had the same experience as mentioned in the comments of the glue dot melting. I tried Ranger's Sticky embossing powder but had the same problem. I will be picking up some poster putty at some point for sure as this is such a great idea!
Hi Lindsey I'm washing your tutorial on how to make the enamel dots very very cool and smart you make me look like I haven't even got started. And your leaf looks more like a feather to me than a leaf so it can be a leaf or a feather in the perception have a great day keep up your very intelligent good work cuz I do enjoy watching your Channel my name is Gail from Michigan have a great day God bless
This is fantastic....and it looks SOOO easy!! Thank you!!
Love it and very easy to make. And best of all I have it all to make. Thanks Lindsay.
Brilliant, Lindsay! Absolutely brilliant. What an amazing way to make the most realistic looking and economical faux enamel dots. Your creative mind is genius. One of your new videos referred back to this video and I'm just in awe.
Thank you Ruth!
Lol I LOVE your perler bead story and the fumes! I will try this for sure! ☺️💕
I love enamel dots, but they are so expensive... So thank you for sharing this easy technique which is SO good! Love this idea!
I was just about to puchase some new enamel dots and I came across your video. Thanks! You saved me some cash!!
This is one ROCKIN idea!!! It is quick, easy and fun...and like you said, you make then as you need them (whatever color). Right on!!! Thank you sooo much for sharing and the inspiration. Taylor:)
One of the best things I've seen in a long time. I always buy mine and they are not cheap! I will be making them now.
TFS you super talented lady!
Anita
thought I sent you a long comment but I don't see it here. Long story short: I discovered your channel a little while ago and you are saving me so much $$! Love your work. Oh, btw, I went to my favorite junk shop which donates all proceeds to families in need in our town. I bought a humungous coffee cup like the one you showed on one of your videos that you drink 3 cups of coffee in the morning. It has a Paris scene on it. Just wanted to share. Great ideas!
awesome! You will be creating some caffeine enhanced power now!
Ahhh.... I was on the brink of buying UTEE when it was on sale but didn't. Now I'll keep a lookout for it. Another awesome idea. Thank you so much!!
Dear Lindsay, These look great!
You may have better luck with pony and perler beads for enamel dots if you put parchment paper on a cookie tray in a regular oven. I have usually opened up windows (even if it is cold outside) as well as putting on the fan above the stove to pull out any poisons from the plastic cooking.
I like your alternative ideas!
Have a great weekend!
Wow, what a great way for great enamel dots. Love your videos. I always get something from each one I watch. Thanks for great tips.
OMG you are amazing!! my family laugh at me for being frugal and inventive but they like the results
keep posting your videos and i will tell my friends to check them out too
xx
Debbi Wailes thanks!
You're amazing Lindsay -- so many great money saving tips!! Love this one!!
Fantastic alternative. Awesome way to upcycle and use up scraps too! TFS Hugs Kristina
Love it! This is so much better because I already have all that and I don't have to try and match beads. Thank you! You're awesome!
Hi lindsay
Once again another brilliantly clever idea is there no end to your talents, don't think so. Keep um coming.
Thank you Lindsay. You are so smart. I will be using this today!!!
Wow! Great idea. Love love it. Thanks for sharing!
Toooooo fun, I was going to try the plastic beads, glad I saw your video first about the fiasco. Don't use this kind of stuff to often so I'll go with the paper ones! Thanks!
Great idea! I have also used markers to create the color on white cardstock and then enamel with clear nail polish. I love the way that you use what you have.
All the more reason to save scrap paper -- what a fun tip!
I LOVE your videos!! You're always figuring out how to do things cheaper and easier!! Follower forever from WV
Cool Beans! I love the idea of no fumes. AND, like you said, it will match the project better.
Just watched one of those 'melting beads' tutorials and was about to entirely remove the possibility from my arsenal. Love this idea way more!
WOW! Awesome idea!! Thanks for sharing, I am going to have to do this real soon!!!
Wow! I'll have to try this! You are so creative! thank you!!
Brilliant! I live in England and yes I have Candies so I could round those out and embossing them. ❤
This is a great hack for enamal dots! Great video.
What a fantastic solution Lindsey!!!! Thank you so much, I was looking for an alternative, I don't have any beads, so this is perfect.
I have never wanted a domed dot, but if I did now I know how to make it! TFS
Hi Lyndsey I have just come across you after watching your video on how to make a flip it card with a normal die. I am new to crafting and am slowly building up my resources as they are soooo expensive. You are just what I was looking for as your ideas are fab and you bring so much energy to your tutorials and I love any ideas that save money. I have subscribed and added lots of your videos to my favourites. Thankyou sooooo much. Kirsty
thanks Kirsty! Crafting does not need to be expensive but there are so many lovely goodies out there to temp us! I always think" can I make it?" before I buy a new trendy doo-dad. Welcome to my channel;)
This is a great idea. Can't wait to try it. Lindsay you really should post this as a Flash Back Friday.
That is totally awesome. I love enamel dots but I can never find the exact color I want. This way they always match. Thanks for sharing
You are just awesome !! Thanks for uploading such beautiful amazing creation.
This is mire up my alley for DIY dots. I was eondrring of melting those beads were safe. I have all this stuff on hands. Awesomevidea. Gonna try it. Also using patterned paper would be cute.
I'm so glad you are creative. I too don't like the smell of melting beads!!
Love this look but glad I haven't broken down to buy any! I don't have clear UTEE so I will try with regular clear embossing powder, and white UTEE and color them with sharpies. Awesome! Thanks!
I use a little foam tape or dots to adhere my card candy. So it would work well with these too. And it would keep them from being crushed too on a project too. Love these little shiny dots. TFS Jess
What a great idea! love the paper feather also.
Love your ideas and creativity.
Gorgeous and simple. Just need a bigger stylus, or find a small marble...I will have to think on that. However, there are no limitations on color. You can paint, ink, dye, glitter, or whatever on a piece of paper. Super, thank you Lindsey.
What a fantastic idea! You always amaze me with how you figure things out for us! Thank you your great.😍
Love this idea. Your experiment with the pony beads reminded me of a craft craze from the 60s. I remember my grandmother and great aunt baking marbles in the oven until they cracked! I hadn't thought about that in years. I don't remember seeing any surviving jewelry, so I'm not sure they made it to that stage of the craft.
Love, love, love this idea!
Thaks for sharing! Awesome idea! You're a genius!
Ok, my plan was to yell BRILLIANT lol!!!! Pam said it first but dang, that's great! I've been contemplating melting the beads but I think i'll stick to doing this instead. Thank you!! :)
Great idea Lindsay!!! Thank you for Sharing!!! Liz x
your truly inspiring!!! love this!! definitely going to be my go to for my Valentine projects coming up!!! thanks a ton!!!
WOWWWWW once again you are the QUEEN!! I like the enamel dots but didn't like the price nor the melting of the beads!! You rock!
Love this. I'm with Dinahsoar... whether I'm buying embellishments or making them myself, ahead of time just doesn't work for me. This is a wonderful way to have the dots match the project perfectly. Just confirms what we already knew, you're a genius.
I had success with the melting of both the pony beads (stinky) and the perler beads (took two tries because apparently those little buggers do get old and then won't melt!)
This idea is super clever though, and I love the ability to customize color or even pattern! Super cute! Thanks for sharing!
This is great! Especially since there are always so many scraps left from bigger projects!!!!! :D Thanks for sharing!
That looks nice in a pinch!! This I'll try.
Great technique! Must use this one my next card !!
What a great idea. Just love your videos.
I read your blog post earlier today...this looks like a much better alternative to melting beads! I would actually try this but don't think I'd risk the fumes and fiasco of the other method. Very clever :)
love your use of scraps!
