I don't think this type of cake is timeless, I think it'll be looked back on as "very 2020s" by the next generation, but I agree that they look really cute!
@@viktoriaschmied6627yeah i hate american buttercream. didn’t know there were multiple kinds until like this year. it makes me sick but i always want more cake and like half a bite of icing.
I don't personally like that style very much but I can see why others may like it! It's cool and honestly it would probably be good for eating vs having a ton of frosting.
We all like different things and we should all do as you did - respect the work put in, the beauty others may see and the right to politely disagree. The World would be a better place. Thanks 😊
I feel the same way. Although sometimes cakes can have too much frosting and even though I enjoy it, I sometimes have to push some aside and it's wasteful.
i love a semi-naked cake! feels like seeing dirt through grass, and that’s one of my favourite things. it’s symbolic that, through all the perfection a relationship may display on the surface, you’re ready and prepared for any rough patches that may come up. i really love them. as you can tell, they mean a heck of a lot to me, i think they’re just great 🥰
Not every style is for every person and that's ok! Even in styles I don't personally care for, the artistry and vision are still so clear and well executed in your videos. It's really cool to get a new appreciation for cake styles I normally don't gravitate towards.
Honestly they look really gorgeous, gives you a humble and welcoming vibe, reminds me of an older house with a few chips on the paint, a few scratched floors, but also this cake still brings that to its best.
I actually prefer this. honestly didnt know people were unaware of the different cake decorating techniques. I love how informational you are and I hope people get a chance to see more beautifully diverse cake decorating
Love it! My neighbour, who never baked a grand cake in her life, did a naked cake with roses for her daughters 1st birthday (back in 2018)... you would think she was a professional! Those cakes are amazing and I would like one for my future wedding 😊
My mom made a semi-naked cookie cake out of box cookie mix for my brother’s wedding a month ago. She’s not a professional or anything but she was really proud of that cake. People at the reception really liked it too.
Fair enough, I remember when they first became popular and all the grandmas were unhappy 😂. I love them, you dont end up eating a ton of icing. I personally think they are very "adult" looking. Around here they have been the de rigeur cake for pretty much everything because everyone in Canada fancies themselves "outdoors-y" and they lend themselves so well to an outdoor event. Very rustic glam. I especially love the fresh flowers and gold leaf. ❤
My mom’s been a cake decorator for 20+ years and I think the reason she feels that a naked cake is unfinished is because most of what she does has fondant over the top and the “skin” of the cake has to be full or it’s an imperfection. I can see the rustic vibe but it’s like blue cheese, you either love it or hate it and it only goes with specific themes. Also, on a side note, I trust that those flowers are fresh but I’ve never understood live flowers on cake. Some like lilies are toxic and I can see a lot of people accidentally putting toxic flowers on cakes not knowing that they are. My mom would always make them out of sugar and they would be as lovely, edible, and keepsake-able via freezer. Just my experience and opinion 🤷🏼♀️
That’s constantly on my mind when I see live flowers on cakes. Most aren’t aware just how poisonous certain species are. I wouldn’t expect professional bakers to be expert botanists.
Nothing beats fresh real flowers imo. Modern day cake decorators know what can & what can't go on a cake. If they've done a proper course anyway. It's common now to use flowers in food, which is why cooks & chefs generally also know what flowers can or can't be used. They wouldn't have learned those things yrs ago because flowers weren't generally used. Like hair stylists, trends change over the yrs & so the necessary skills to learn to practice the trade differ over time too.
love it! i was so worried about the yellow drips, esp. w| the gold leaf but told myself to trust the process. + thankfully you did not disappoint. whew. LOLOL
I love naked cakes and this is absolutely stunning. I had these exact colours at my wedding. Thanks for bringing back memories & making me smile today. 😊💐
I honestly love the aesthetic and looks of it! It reminds me of how painted wood looks once the paint starts slowly wearing down! Especially this one, darks wood peaking through a coat of white paint😍
I think this cake looks absolutely amazing & perfect, very creative. All of your stuff is a friggin work of art ! I find them very romantic, it’s kinda like when you have a brick accent wall in your house. Gives character.

It does have sort of a French Provincial antiqued look, that casual look that is anything but. Artfully done. The blossoms make it perfect.
