bro, why not work a year or two for 300k? this way you can at least show something in the future on your cv... other than failed startups, and you can also fund yourself not working, having 500-400k saved up means a lot especially for such a goal, prob way more than most of us will ever save up in their lifetime.
@@Juaantonlc is CMU really that good? either way seems like a good idea to work for 1-2 or even 3 years see where it'll take you and then take off with a startup since u can also network in that meantime which will 100% be a good thing for the future startup plans, personally I'd feel way more comfortable starting a startup with 600-700k in my pocket than with less than that

@@Juaantonlc 3 years after graduating is only 24, still basically 0 responsibility to anyone other than themselves. I agree, work the job for a while and save up some money, will make the startup attempt way safer. Plus in the current market its gonna be hard to find a job with nothing on the resume regardless of what school you went to.
Then why not stay the year after that, and the year after that, and the year after that?
He'd be much more comfortable having worked there 40 years with a bazillion dollars saved up.
1) He's not planning on his startup failing, if he was he wouldn't start one in the first place.
2) Comfort is obviously not a factor.
@@onetwoval he might not plan on it failing, but the reality is most startups fail, and it usually takes people a few attempts to actually make something that succeeds. So having a safety net is not a bad idea, even if staying in the job is not what he wants long term, it doesn't have to be. Lots of startups start as a side project while working another job so that you can afford to fail.

Glgl, love to see people chasing after it. I also plan to do a start up at some point in the not too distant future, I already have the idea locked in. I'm in the skill building phase atm w/ school (graduate next June) and then I'll work for a YR or two somewhere before going at it full-tilt, I also main C++, so hopefully a trading firm, the talent and money in trading would definitely help. I also want to move to Japan though at some point, so idk what's gonna happen lmao. Also having Pan or somebody like that w/ a similar mindset is huge, I am kinda just running solo.

I quit my 9-5 software developer job in 2020. People thought i was crazy. Now I have 3 businesses and I make way more money than I used to, and I don't have to work if I don't want to.

You’re an adult, so do what you want. I don’t think I can walk away with that much of money on the table. I probably work there and save maybe $500k while working part time for your project. Once $500k is reached, I quit the job and move to super cheap places to live aka parents basement. Then try to live off for 5 years with $500k to fund your project while pumping out 10 startups.
