The Grand Ole Opry began as a radio show and has been going since 1925--always in Nashville, TN. In 1943, the Opry moved into the Ryman Auditorium. For the next 31 years, that was its home, and all of the country music legends of that era performed on the Ryman's stage. Toward the end of that run, Ryman was in bad shape and Opry management decided to build a new theater and move. The performers complained bitterly, and management compromised by cutting a 6' circle out of the Ryman's stage and moving it to the new Opryhouse so that future generations of country musicians, including Carson Peters, can stand on the very same oak boards as all Opry performers have done for the past 76 years. At 6:26, you can see the light-colored 6' inset.
I worked in Piney flats Tennessee for 25 years and still live close. Carson has been singing and playing music since he was 2. He has a band now and they are still singing.

That was his Opry debut over 5 years ago. Since then he has been back to the Grand Ole Opry with his band many times as well as other great venues. It is the passing of a torch, so to speak. There is a video of a very young (maybe 6 years old) Ricky Skaggs making an appearance on the old Flatt & Scruggs TV show back in the late 50s/early 60s. A nice thing about country, blues & jazz is that the older players always seem to help the young prodigies get their starts.
Bluegrass Music is so underrated. The interesting comments is "How do they do that "slide" with their voice". The more you watch you will realize how it is nothing more than old southern gospel music that derived from roots in the south. Also, it is done with no effects on the acoustic instruments and just as importantly, no autotune .... its nice to see appreciation from other genres... keep up the good work of sharing the love!!!

As the father of 2 sons that became performers - but can't carry a tune in a bucket myself - the most important influence you can have on your daughter is to make music part of her life... make it a daily thing. We always had music playing and while they were still young, I put a "music room" in the basement; a comfortable space with a P.A. system and keyboard and drums. Over time Guitars and a Uke was added and the drum kit was replaced by them. My wife and I never "taught" a note but music was enjoyed. Even the stuff that wasn't "our kind of music".
I was a working musician at age 11. It just came really easy. Some are gifted with music or art of some kind. For others it's a long road of learning. We'll be hearing from Carson for a long time.
