I remember my mother listening to the Platters when she did her housework....I think I was about 9 years old. I find it amazing that I know all the words to the songs. Thanks Mom, Rest in piece dear woman.
THE PLATTERS WHAT A GREAT GROUP. THESE SONGS TAKE ME BACK TO MY ERA WHEN I WAS A TEENAGER. YEA FOR THE 50'S AND 60'S. WISH I COULD TURN BACK THE HANDS OF TIME.
Today is my dad's birthday. He passed away this January at 81 years young. This was his favorite song, so I'm playing it for him. I love and miss you, dad. This one is for you. Until we meet again
God bless you. My dad's been home with the Lord nearly 14 years. We loved The Platters. If your relationship was anything like ours then I know how you feel. Just remember... Psalm 116:15 KJV... Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints. In Christ's Love
I agree. I spent many nights listening to their music on my car radio. Oh what Night we had together. We were married for (61) and then the Lord wan😢 her back. (Cancer). I have bought her a fresh bouquet of flowers for (5) years now. I will soon be (89). Oh Carol, you were my “Rock”.
The magic of The Platters and similar doo-wop groups was the simplicity of the lyrics blended with extraordinary talent. This song tells a whole beautiful story in a few, well-chosen words delivered as only The Platters could.
His talent would shine at any time in the past present or future, just one of the greatest of all time. Maybe if these classics were revived then the young talents would surface, they exist, but are not exposed to these performances.
New Year’s Eve listening to this thinking of my grandparents who met on New Year’s Eve many many years ago. My nanny sadly passed away this year. These songs bring so many memories x
I grew up to this music from listening to my moms records.I would play these songs over and over. All of my friends liked rock and I was a weirdo into my moms stash of records.I had to sneak playing them because she didn't want me to scratch her records. So I had to wait until she was at work.I was very careful not to scratch any of them. She had great taste and it exposed me to a lot of different types of music. She was a little over the Hippies age so she liked 40s and 50s stuff.
well you should not, even for all the likes in the world .. you should listen to the music of your time .. the music that speaks for you .. if platters are a part of this, even better
Same, 26 and I listen to stuff my grandparents and great grandparents listened to, I still love the late 90s early 2000s stuff but it's a different feel all together listening to true older talent, the skill is just moving sometimes, unchained melody is just amazing, classical can be amazing too, I love danse macabre put that on some surround sound speakers or even the radio up loud as you're driving
It was just a sweet dance on the floor on that night, and both eyes just fix unto each other without a blink. a memories that could last for a lifetime ♥️

The Platters were and still are so good. I love their soulful beats and their music so clear and sharp.

All the hits of the Platters are eternal.

Man, it was NOT, doo wop, on those days!!!!! I know, I lived them, and doo wop did NOT exist!! It was what, we as teenagers called....R&B.

That group of talent is special to me, especially when TONY WAS THE LEAD SINGER...
Yeah it's a bit of a shame that Tony Williams is not a "household name". The group is great, the material is fine... but he is timeless.

The Skyliners and The Drifters, among others, were also very good, but The Platters were perhaps the best of the vocal groups I've heard.
