Besides using the silicone trick now I know what I can do with my left over K&N oil. 👍💯
You got that right Kerry and the best part is it only takes a fine mist over the filter :) Mad Mike
Filter spray? In all my years fixing car, trucks, motorcycles I have never heard of this. Thank you very much. Sweet!
I’m going to try this in my Dodge Gen 1 Cummings 👍🏼
It's this amzn.to/3MV5Sto We've used it for years and years my friend. Thanks for watching, have a great day. mad Mike & team
I have to go home and find that spray bottle of K&N oil that's been sitting unused for twenty years! (Had a K&N filter in my wife's '89 Cutlass) Now I know what to do with it! Thank you!
Our pleasure MrOnemanop! Thanks for watching, have a fantastic day my friend. mad Mike the hammer SPC
Awesome it makes sense im doing it
Nice! Thank you for watching Ben, hope you have a fantastic week my friend. mad Mike & team
Still spray mine with blaster silicone like u said years ago. Still working gr8. Love me some sweet Project, hell Sweet anything. Learn so much, save more $$ and time. Thanks Mike
Our pleasure Jason! Thank you so much for the view and comment, it makes all we do worth it! Hope you have a fantastic week my friend. mad Mike
Thank you so much for your comment here:
You too Sir. Keep up the fantastic videos coming. I can't count on both hands or feet all the times I needed to remove light scratches from auto paint, had a tear or crease in leather, needed to deep clean carpet, needed to remove bad stains, fix broken plastic that wasn't easy or cheap to replace, I got the video camera u suggested after checking it out, along with the inflator, and sealing up door drains and filling with Vaseline, mineral, or baby oil to keep rust away, thanks to you. Really means alot that we still have folks like You etc that don't pull no BS, if a product is crap yall say so and if it's great, yall recommend. It's tough for alot of folks to just get by let alone worry about how to make urr auto last as long as possible cause a new 1 we can't afford and it costs what a starter home did a decade ago.
@@SweetProjectCars Thank u and all of the folks who help u. It's helped alot of ppl keep auto longer and fix issues cheaper than just replacing things. We grew up fixing, rebuilding, etc. Today it's toss and and buy new. Well some things u can't buy new. This keeps the old ways of making used things new again going. Have a gr8 Day.
Eastwood & Nugent 😅😂 I like. No wussy's.
Damn Mike that K&N filter oil spray must be the bizz. K&N filters themselves are top notch. This makes sense. The greasing of the sealing edges of the filter so i won't be cleaning carbs so often or being worried about contaminants going into my cylinder's via the carb's
Hoolio is a big fan of Clint & Ted! Thanks for the view and comment Nico, hope you have a great week my friend. mad Mike
I'll try this for my car. GDI has enough issues already! Years ago a building engineer recommended I uses Pam cooking spray on the fiberglass filters in my HVAC at home rather than high efficiency HEPA filters which can shorten the life of the HVAC fan. Been doing it ever since and works great!
Thank you for watching and sharing, we really appreciate it P W, hope you have a great weekend my friend. mad Mike the hammer SPC
Try some 303. I spray on tires, plastic, air bags etc. Stuff was made for aerospace and it's amazing. It will protect about anything.
A couple of my cars have k&n filters on them. I never would have imagined you could use the filter oil on normal filters. But I guess it makes sense.
Now you know Leo!! Thanks for always watching, we appreciate you my friend, have a stupendous day. mad Mike the hammer SPC
On my newer civic the factory filters come oiled
Wow that’s a great idea
Glad you liked it Pam! Thank you for the view and comment, hope you have a great weekend my friend. mad Mike the hammer SPC
Hey Love your channel ..but you haven’t mentioned if the filter oil /grease are map sensor safe!!!!
Here's the spray amzn.to/3MV5Sto It's specifically made for the air filters Robert, you can read all of the product details for yourself. With over 600 videos on our channel, we would never recommend something that would harm a viewer or anything they have, we've done this process for years and years. Thanks for watching. mad Mike the hammer SPC
Excellent point. The oil can company will probably say it is, but no point in risking it.
@LuckyCharms777 So better not to spray K&N oil on normal filters like MANN filter for exemple?
Well Mike...I don't know what happened to my subscription so I will redo it...............................oh...another good one.

Any chance of this oil getting on component’s down stream of the filter???
No Jason. Thanks for watching, have a great day. mad Mike the hammer SPC
I live on a gravel road, very dusty, this is a great idea, always thought you could only use filter spray oil on those washable units, thanks

Sweeeeeeeeeeeet!!! My brother I love it!!! Been running Ken and Norms filters since I had my 1987 Mustang GT 5.0😔Man I mis that car.. Anywho, my 7.3l powerstroke has never been without one, and your are RIGHT Mad Mike that can is the secret sauce my friend, it like hospital air coming thru the other side of that filter friends!! Do you have something to fill in or cover scratches in alloy wheel and chrome running boards.
If there's a scratch in chrome, there's nothing you can do about that, if it's aluminum you can sand and buff out those. Thanks for watching and asking Gary, hope you have a great week. mad Mike

Hey many thanks for the great tip!
I mistakenly soaked the filter heavy with oil on both sides)) Should I throw it out and start anew or I can pat it with paper towel or smth and still use it you think? Some say my throttle body won't like having oil facing it.. Cheers!
Man I missed you and Hooleo+ thanks for the videos.

What about some good ol’ dialectric grease? It’s silicone based too, or the good ones are…
(I think this is a better idea than the dry silicone spray on the filter element)
I’m a believer in changing air filters when you change engine oil - 8k miles for synthetic oil & filter works pretty well for air filters too if you ask me.
You can use whatever you want to use Gregory, we are just sharing what we know works and has for us for years and years. Thanks for watching and sharing, we really appreciate it, have a great day. mad Mike the hammer SPC

Good video
wait...are you sure the regular "dry" paper filter will not get clogged up by the light oil spray?
We've never had it do that Stella. K&N has been doing it for years and years and years. You will be replacing your filters more often because you will be collecting more dust and dirt, I will tell you that, but that's the whole job of the filter. Hope this helps, thanks for the view, have a great week. mad Mike
wait, but did you try it on a paper filter? was there any reduction in engine rpm, stalling etc?@@SweetProjectCars
@@vampire_kirilDid you find out?

Can I spray on paper filter?

The intake side is the pleated side. That's why the pleats are always full of dirt in an old filter.

@@SweetProjectCars I know, Hoolio mentioned it in the video :D
I get it, you want us to click the link so you earn some money, and I respect that, you deserve it for the quality videos you share with us.
The only thing I'm shown when I click that link is air filters and the letter "K" in the search bar. It just doesn't show the spray, I guess it's some kind of region lock. Mind making an exception and telling me what the spray is? I promise I'll buy something using your links ;)
Good tip, except on our cars the air enters on the pleated side of the filter (and yes they are installed correctly).

I would rather put the oil on the other side. By putting it on the suction side as shown in this video, the amount of surface exposed to the oil is minimized. Additionally, with the dirt being more captured on the inside face of the filter, there is less material to prevent it from being released were the filter to dry up. I would rather see the oil spread on the outside. This will work best like it one way, the end of the spread, then pushed the other way to ensure even coats. Just apply it lighter and it will work fine.
