  • Despite the fact that Skyline Honolulu has plans for long term future extensions, there is destinations on Oahu that would benefit well with an Skyline extension. One such destination we will discuss is the planned extension into Kapolei Commons and even further to Makaha on the West Shore. Where will it go? Where should it go? How much will it cost? Is it worth extending? Find out inside.

Excellent next video! The Waianae Coast is my hometown, and once the first phase of Skyline opened last year, I thought of westward extensions as well, but only up to Waianae Transit Center next to Waianae Mall. As much as I would love to see it go all the way to Makaha, I think the farthest west HART would go is to Kapolei Commons. A Ko Olina extension would be great as well, but there would be major pushback from some hotels there. Perhaps Disney could pick up the tab for the extension with Aulani there?

Honestly I feel like the Makaiwa Station should be at the corner of Koio + Aliinui so it better serves Honokai Hale as well as terminating at Aulani. That would probably shave ~500M off the cost and DTS would probably extend route 46 to run all the way to Paradise Cove for local service anyways.
