I get this smell when I’m fasting or on a calorie deficit. Standard operating procedure, don’t worry bro. As long as you make sure that your protein intake is sufficient over the day.
This was reassuring. I recently encountered this issue after endurance cycling during the summer heatwave. I assumed it was dehydration & protein breakdown, but there’s always that concern of kidney health. After carb loading and better hydrating it’s reduced to nearly nothing, but the two times I noticed it after 40-50 miles rides on hot days it was awful.
I wish you guys could offer a solution instead of dismissing it off as ''not a problem''. I'm currently trying to find a way to get rid of this disgusting smell because people around me say behind my back that I smell like a skunk. This is pretty awful if you ask me and that might be the one thing that'll get me off the ketogenic diet even though it's the only downside I've found after almost a full year on it. It only started recently because I got a new job that's physically demanding in a hot environment and I don't want to be that guy who smells like cat piss at the end of every damn day, it makes me so ashamed of myself, you guys have no idea.
I can really feel your pain on this issue, Nacked Grills. To make a long story short, I'm currently dealing with a great deal of controversy in my work life over a perceived "pee" smell. I've never noticed it but it is , apparently, very detectable to my backstabbing, gossipy coworkers. I suffer from diabetes and bike ride a great deal to help combat chronic hyperglycemia. Unfortunately, I live in the terribly- humid climate of Florida and just endured braving the height of those conditions last summer while working. I perspire more profusely than the average Joe (primarily in the facial and chest area) and have to change shirts frequently during the summer. I was on a more lo-carb diet for awhile to help combat the high sugar but, recently, started consuming more to, maybe, help this problem. I suffer no signs of urinary incontinence and I think the 'pee' insults are a layperson's attempts to describe an ammonia-based body odor. Any suggestions?
I'm a former nurse and USD coffee retention enemas, to get rid of ammonia tion of tissues. My doc is a former NFL player who knew of their value for nutrition from teammates using them. They do a type of dialysis using the intestine.
@@Nathan19791bro, if you get in a 200° sauna for 20 minutes, then dry off afterwards, your towel will smell like ammonia. If you keep doing it, after about 3 weeks the ammonia smell will disappear. This could be an easy fix and a big lifestyle upgrade if you can make it happen
I totally agree! We need a solution to this. I am currently experiencing this and I can’t figure out a way to get rid of it. I even tried to increase my fat consumption but it only made a small change
I don't think my body smells like ammonia but I have the ammonia smell in my nostrils, would this be the same? I also have the same routine as this guy, training fasted only bc I'm doing IF...I drink water and black coffee before my gym workout...(I mainly notice this after cardio, walking incline for over 40mins).
If you read a lot about the ammonia sweat on Google it is when you have ran out of glycogen stores and you are burning proteins that cannot be filtered by the liver fast enough so it comes out through the sweat. Also a lot of what you read on Google says that you were actually burning your own muscle mass. What I don’t get is why does your body not just go for the fat and how can you make sure it goes for that fat and not your muscle.
I have the same problem, I eat a small breakfast burrito and a Greek yogurt 30 minutes before working out but still have the same smell. I do shower every day, fyi🤣
I get this without even sweating. Happens earlier in lifting, I smell like ammonia even after murdering carbs earlier in the day and before the gym. Not sure what the fuck
Can this happen when you are doing multiple high intensity cardio workouts I noticed it after an intense boxing session and I also so intense cardio in the mornings should I intake more carbs or what ? I’m also bulking eating around 4000 a day so I can’t see why I would be needing more nutrients
It’s fasting… when you fast you gut begins to try to heal along with your whole body and the toxins are coming out of the tissues more so sweating from a workout is going to smell worse
That is not at all what happens. In this case the ammonia gets secreted through the sweat glands bc the body cannot process ammonia from the lack of CHO in the liver when in ketosis. Couple this with a high-protein diet and the liver gets overwhelmed - not being able to metabolize ammonia due to the increased amino acid turn over and lack of CHO - two fold.

me too. do we need to stop doing the IF during workout? trying to do workout during keto and 18hr fasting

your body breaking down the proteins is always the last resort, so it will happen if there isnt any glucose or fat left in that area to burn
@@dane6028 what about fats?

What about hyperhidrosis, can't it just be from excessive sweating and maybe wearing that same t shirt over and over again?
Maybe , everyone that I see with this issue seems to profusely sweat including me.

Even when I am bulking I train fasted. I can’t train after I eat just pile on the calories after training
