10 Things Jesus NEVER Said about Healing - Art Thomas Ministries

  • Today's Church has complicated healing ministry with all sorts of ideas, excuses, and theological gymnastics that cannot be found in the life of Jesus (in fact, we find the opposite there). Jesus healed every single person who came to Him, called out to Him, or sent someone on their behalf. The same is available for us today as members of His Body.
    In this sermon--preached January 26, 2014, in Jackson, Michigan--Art Thomas brings clarity to the ministry of healing by pointing back to Jesus.
    After this meeting, tumors shrank, sicknesses disappeared, and long-term injuries were reversed in the name of Jesus Christ.
    Jesus is King!

    Christ in us, the hope of glory. Thank you, Art. You are building my trust in men of God again. I have wondered about this verse: "And whenever the harmful spirit from God was upon Saul, David took the lyre and played it with his hand. So Saul was refreshed and was well, and the harmful spirit departed from him." 1 Samuel 16:23 I think David was sent to reassure Saul that God loved him, but Saul was too paranoid and jealous of David for him to receive these words. Do you think Saul was saved in the end? David did say to the man who killed him, "Were you not afraid to touch the Lord's anointed?"

    I love this & I really needed this. Thank you for making this because it's really needed. My question is, why are a lot of these things taught so much if they're not scriptural? Like having sin in the life causing sickness, or not all people being healed & some emphasis on people not being healed because of God is trying to teach them something?
    My understanding of healing to some extent came from these beliefs, because they're very commonly taught & it's sad because people start to beat themselves up about a sickness believing that God doesn't want them healed yet, or at all because of these things you mentioned in the video.

    • @ArtThomas
      @ArtThomas  8 лет назад +9

      My guess is that most people teach them because that's what they were taught. Most--if not all--who reach such things are well-meaning people who are trying to teach the best they know how. But the origin of such teachings was likely an attempt to explain away a lack of results. When things don't happen as we expect, we have a tendency to form false theology out of the experience rather than basing our beliefs on Scripture.

    Saul was not stricken blind. But when he saw the glory or the brightness of Jesus,then his eyes couldn’t bear it. No one can stand before a Holy God and live..His eyes couldn’t survive the beauty of His Being.This was an act of mercy so that Saul could survive and live. Jesus didn’t put blindness on him but his eyes couldn’t face the brightness of Jesus glorified state.

    • @ArtThomas
      @ArtThomas  5 лет назад

      Sean Rath - I’ve heard this theory, but we can’t state it emphatically since the Bible doesn’t say it.
      Later in Paul’s life, Paul verbally strikes Elymas blind (also temporary), possibly because Paul learned firsthand that this is a reasonable correction for an active enemy of the Gospel, such as he once was. Admittedly, this too is a theory.
      All that said, let’s suppose for a moment you’re right. If Saul was blinded by the brightness and beauty of Jesus, that begs the question: Did Jesus not know that His glory would blind Saul?
      If He didn’t know, then Saul’s blindness was a haphazard accident, and it apparently took Jesus three days to realize His mistake and send Ananias. I don’t think either of us would agree with that possibility.
      If, however, He did know what would happen to Saul’s eyes, then the action was deliberate (and so was the three-day waiting period before Saul’s healing).
      I think we can agree that we don’t know exactly what mechanism was used to strike Saul blind-whether Jesus actively raised His hand and removed Saul’s sight or whether He merely decided to appear with excessive brightness. But either way, this was deliberate on Jesus’ part, which means all the points made in the video still stand.
      Lamentations 3:31-33 strikes me as a reasonable commentary on this episode with Saul: “For no one is cast off by the Lord forever. Though he brings grief, he will show compassion, so great is his unfailing love. For he does not willingly bring affliction or grief to anyone.”
      Be blessed!

    • @RenewalCreations
      @RenewalCreations 5 лет назад

      God has His reasons for why some get healed and some don't. It is not the same for everyone but it for His glory. My grandfather had Parkinson's and everyone speaks very highly of him and how he would still serve even when his body gave out and how hard it was on a man who loved to talk and teach and couldn't speak anymore, but it taught him to rely on the Lord. But still testimonies of my grandfather's heart, of him crawling a distance back to the house after his body gave out on a walk or a drive to help a neighbor. God can show His glory and His power in our weaknesses just as much as He can show His might in our healings. He is able. Ask and He if He chooses to say no, trust Him anyway.

    I would like to challenge everyone to send this to their Pastors and to anyone who has a ministry in your congregation, and of course to all your friends. We need to undo the brainwashing we've been getting from the average Pastor. FYI: I've been doing the things that Art and others like him teach because I also believe what God's Word says. I also threw out my watered down Latin translated NIV Bible and got a real Bible in the Hebrew/Greek/Aramaic translation .... huge difference. All kinds of words and scripture in Latin translations are missing or misinterpreted or completely changed, which I truly believe is the work of the devil so that we won't know the real power we have as Believers and therefore won't do the Father's work, allowing the Devil to completely take over. Thank God for Art and others who teach the TRUTH.

      +Traci Scheelk God is the great I AM. Wow what a testimony; you definitely got a divine healing; a miracle. I can't imagine what that must have been like. So glad you didn't give up on God's grace and mercy, especially with all those diagnosis. And I'm sure there were people who thought you would never get healed. I hope you told them all to get lost if they did. Praise the Lord for He is perfecting that which concerns you with His enduring loving kindness. He will not forsake the Works of His own hands - Psalm 38. I learned a couple years ago about rebuking symptoms and not allowing them to tell me I'm getting sick (symptoms are symptoms, not sickness, like a dog that is all bark and no bite). I talk to them like I would training a dog or child; "Oh no you don't in the name of Jesus Christ. No, no, no in the name of Jesus." Sometimes I imagine the spirits of sickness and disease are sitting on my shoulder and flick them off me as I'm rebuking them and step on them." It totally works. I wish I could find a church here in Ft. Lauderdale that was open to the Spiritual Gifts but they want nothing to do with them. So I get all my teachings on line until God leads me to one. So far I've been learning to hear God's voice, I pray in tongues, prophesy and lay hands. Of course I need to practice, practice, practice but am enjoying it. It would be so nice if I could find others that did it too; one day I will. I'll have to check out Gail Riplinger. I am also learning through Dr. Leaf and other Christian doctors about the miraculous things that go on in the brain when we read the Word and pray and so on ... fascinating! Anywho ... hope you are having a beautiful Christmas Traci and expect an amazing new year too.

      Gabrielle Williams , I’ve got great news for you. Jesus said Isaiah’s prophecy was about Him-that He had come “to proclaim freedom to the prisoners” and “to set the captives free.” (See Luke 4:18-19.)
      Captives are those who have been taken due to no fault of their own. But prisoners are those who did something to put themselves in their situation.
      Jesus came to liberate both.
      So whether your sickness is accidental or due to your own actions, Jesus is proclaiming freedom over you today.
      Be healed in Jesus’ name.

      Art Thomas Take someone advanced in years, body breaking down. At some point that person will die rather than be healed, right?

    • @ArtThomas
      @ArtThomas  9 лет назад +5

      Great question.
      First, Scripture allows for people to live up to 120 years, so I consider anything prior to that a fair target for a healing.
      Second, the book of Ecclesiastes says that there is "a time to die" and also speaks of the tragedy when a person dies before their time. If everyone died when it was their time, why did Jesus raise the dead? So not everyone is supposed to live to 120 years, but that still doesn't mean that everyone dies in God's timing.
      Third, there are plenty of other ways to die than from disease or tragedy. Based on my understanding of God's nature, I don't see any reason why He would need to use a terminal illness or a failed organ to slowly and painfully end a person's life when He could simply stop their heart.

    • @paulo1149
      @paulo1149 9 лет назад +2

      Thanks, Art. All very good points, with the exception that I don't understand the last line of point 2.
      I've been thinking about this, and it seems to me the key is a subjective sense in the person that the time to go has come. The person will have peace about it. There won't be a sense of tragedy, but of joy for meeting the Master soon. My thoughts aren't fully formed on this yet, but I did get that.
      Loved the interview with Sid Roth. Look forward to seeing Paid in Full.
      Bless you brother.

      Isn’t it interesting that in the countless recorded miracles of Jesus’ ministry, He never told someone that the Father didn’t want to heal them? Neither can you find that anywhere in the rest of the New Testament.
      So if the Word reveals a God who healed every single person who came to Jesus, called out to Jesus, reached out and touched Jesus, or had someone else come to Jesus on their behalf, I ought to believe that this God is the same today. And if that’s true and I think I hear God say He doesn’t want to heal the person I’m ministering to, am I actually hearing God? Or am I maybe either hearing another spirit or perhaps settling for an idea that releases me from the responsibility to partner with God for the miracle He actually wants?
      I’d suggest to you that there’s no such thing as God saying He doesn’t want to heal someone because that would contradict the Word. Accordingly, I don’t see a need to ask whether or not He wants it.

    Do you have an explanation why we can pray for people that does not get healed and we meet them weeks after and they are still not healed. I ask because I am so confused why most people we pray for gets healed and a few does not.
    It is always people with serious decease or broken bones or a discos. Is it generally harder to heal those things or is it beacuse we do not have enough faith when confronted with serious things?

    • @boydmerriman
      @boydmerriman 6 лет назад +1

      The person praying (the healer) is the one who has faith. What happens is that we lose confidence (in our selves) when we run into a situation where someone is really sick (cancer or a missing limb) over someone who has a back ache (which can be adjusted by a chiropractor for temporary relief). Life in general gives us back aches and headaches and a bruised elbow, which we find is easier to heal. But real heavy issues, we tend to allow them to beat us back. It's all about how the person who is praying (the healer) feels about the issue and are they actually participating WITH Christ, or are they concerned about their own ability? Something to think about.

I know this incident forced you to study healing deeper....this is obviously one reason....any other observations since then?

      +Kelly Linse I have been studying healing too. This guy is great. I also love Kathryn Kuhlman. She has, from what I can see, the most actually doctor verified and medically documented cases of healing miracles. One thing I noticed in her healing services vids is that sometimes, only with cancer as far as I saw, she would rebuke Satan and the spirit of cancer. Now in her books you see other people being healed of cancer without any rebuking maybe with nothing but Kuhlman's prayers for the entire service and "I praise you Jesus" for the particular person in front of her. That observation may not be very helpful, just fyi. Art Thomas says someone has to have faith. How do you get faith though? According to I Believe In Miracles by Kuhlman, you don't really seek faith, you seek Messiah, to get close to Him, and then faith comes. (That has been working for me, and bringing me joy and insights.) Maybe those people were seeking faith. Maybe in her particular case the devil needed to be rebuked. I don't know. I'm sure they meant well But we all need to learn and grow and vids like this help a lot.

      +Kelly Linse...Jesus always knew whether the sickness was disease or illness or whether it was caused by a demon. So he pray for healing when it was disease or illness and cast out the demon when the sickness was rooted in the demonic. So when we pray for healing, if the person does not get well, then we must cast out the demon. There are demons of just about every major illness or disease you can think of. Demons cause sickness and sometimes death. If that doesn't work, then the person either needs to repent for some son or forgive someone or perhaps both. Healing and deliverance go hand in hand. Jesus did both all the time.

      Sean Rath - True. Paul says in Acts 22:11 that he couldn’t see “because of the brightness of that light.”
      I understand the desire to not misrepresent Jesus and to help people find freedom from blaming God for things. But that doesn’t change the fact that Saul was blinded when Jesus appeared, and Jesus didn’t have to appear with blinding light (He appeared many other times to other people without blinding them). So this seems to have been deliberate for Jesus, not an accident. Neither did Jesus heal him before departing.
      The point made in the video, though, still stands either way: It was God’s will to heal Saul, even if the blindness was caused by Jesus. I like to say that unless a person received their sickness on the way to murder Christians, it probably didn’t come from God. But even if it did, it’s still His will to heal.
      If we make the case that Jesus *accidentally* blinded Saul by forgetting to turn off His glory (like He did for so many other post-resurrection appearances), I feel like that would open a bigger can of worms than Jesus knowing what He was doing.

      Art Thomas Jesus didn’t put sickness on anyone but Jesus healed all who came to him.Saul was blinded because his eyes couldn’t withstand his brightness of his being.We can’t misrepresent Jesus true nature which is love ( unconditional love). I enjoy your teachings. They are helping the body of Christ to take their authority in this fallen world

    My left ear closed up almost all the way about 1 1/2 years ago. I have called many prayer lines and had prayer, I have confessed God's willingness to heal me, I have faith, I've listened to probably hundreds of videos from many different ministries regarding healing. I've questioned my own faith, I've come under condemnation from many of these ministries because it is not God - it is me. There's something wrong with me. There's something missing in me. I somehow have not met the criteria. I don't know what the criteria is. I've been confused and mixed up. I've spent sleepless nights praying, and repenting, and asking for wisdom. My ear is blocked up. Can you help me understand?

      Art Thomas maybe....but my point was that when God doesn't heal, people use all of those sayings. "God says to wait", "god heals through these sicknesses", "maybe you need to have more faith", etc... If Jesus didn't use those excuses, why are we to accept them today? It seems that if Jesus healed everyone that came to him, he would still be doing that now.

    How many times were demons the cause of sicknesses? How many times were there demons in the church?How many people were not healed? For example at the pool, only one man was healed, what about the rest? Why did Jesus not heal the rest at the pool? The lame man at the temple, why did Jesus not heal him and later God used John and Paul? Jesus always did His Father's will all the time. Sometimes it was to heal all and sometimes some people. Should we be careful to not do what we think God wants versus doing what God has told us to do, when He wants us to do it? Should we decide on our own? Human will is a strong force and can accomplish healing as well. To me, we all must be careful to do God's will, when He wants it done, as His obedient children

      Easy answer for a deep question. God already knows what He is going to do. Our faith or one's faith is trusting or believing that He will do it. We must also understand that the enemy also come and heals as an angel of light, if one does want to believe good is evil and evil is good, God will allow it. We must study and learn the voice of God to discern the difference. May God's grace, mercy, peace and truth be upon us all.

      Thats just like saying that Jesus healed by the power of Satan. If satan is against satan how can his kingdom stand. Jesus came to give life and make it more abundant. Satan comes to steal kill and destroy. Makes no sense for satan to heal unless we give him credit for it. Satan is the inslaver of men. Jesus came to set the captives free. Free from the snares of sin. Because back then people thought sickness and disease was punishment for their sins. God would never want someone controlled by a demon. God does not want someone sick. How does sickness glorify God?

    • @larryscott6672
      @larryscott6672 8 лет назад +2

      All that you have said is true. There is a beautiful side of evil though. Many people are in sin or turn back to sin, thus allowing demons to begin to enter into their life to torment them because God can not protect those who go out of His will, so sometimes to keep a person in bondage the enemy can cause an infirmity to cause the person to trust in another person for healing rather than trust in God. These are very subtle moves by the enemy. Because the "healer" is also being used by the devil. These are the last days and there will be deceivers that perform miracles to take one's eyes off Jesus. Even in the OT, the magicians of pharoah also mimicked what God did through Moses for the first couple times. These last days will bring about much false teaching, false prophets and false healings and miracles that are not from God. It is written. Blessings to you.

    Thank you for this most excellent teaching and revelation on healing.
    As far as death is concerned, I believe that God didn't create man to die, but death entered when Adam disobeyed God. After that the law of sin and death worked in all who were born as humans, and were separated from fellowshipping with God. The wages of sin is death, and Jesus reaped those wages on our behalf on the Cross, so removing from us the law of sin and death (if we believe).
    Jesus kept our appointment with death on the Cross when He died in our place. When He did that, He loosed us from our appointment with death (Ps.102:20). 1 Cor. 15:53 - 54 seems to confirm this: Paul talks of two groups of people: Those who died in Christ whose bodies will corrupt in the grave, but who will come back with incorruptable bodies, and those who are die-able (corruptable) who become incorruptable (undie-able), who will never die - the ones that remain. Death comes from the law of sin and death, lilfe comes from Jesus Christ.
    Also, in John 6 Jesus says several times that he that eats His body shall never die! He also says that to Martha at Lazarus' grave, and asks her, "Do you believe this?"
    So I believe there is coming a time when we shall believe this, and no longer die, but return to the days of our youth, and our flesh shall be fresher than a childs..

    Jesus taught and preached before he healed. why? To help raise the faith of the people to receive the Father's will. He couldn't minister to people in unbelief. Mark 6:5.

      I'm incredibly grateful for the breakthroughs that came through the Word of Faith movement, but I have since learned that some of the standard dogmas can become roadblocks to healing rather than helps.
      In Mark 6:5-6, the problem was not that the unbelief of people was more powerful than Jesus' faith. Darkness is not greater than light. Rather, the problem was that the people didn't expect to be able to receive anything from Jesus, so they likely didn't come to Him for healing. In fact, Luke's account of Jesus in His hometown shows the people being so offended at His teaching that they drove Him up a hill in order to throw Him off a cliff! That doesn't leave a lot of time for healing ministry :-) It's far more likely that Jesus couldn't do many miracles there because people refused to come to Him with their problems; and it's far less likely that Jesus tried to heal a blind man, failed, and then looked at everyone else and said, "Come on, people, you need to have more faith!"
      When Jesus ministered healing to the epileptic boy, the disciples didn't have faith (Matthew 17:19-20), nor did the boy's father (Mark 9:24), nor did anyone else in the entire generation of people around Him (Matthew 17:17, Mark 9:19, and Luke 9:41). Jesus verbally acknowledged that He was in an "atmosphere of unbelief." And He didn't preach any sermon at all yet was still able to heal the boy.
      Many times Jesus healed people without first preaching, so I don't think it's biblically sound to suggest that He had to "preach people into faith" in order for His power to work.
      As a side note, Jesus also raised the dead... That certainly didn't depend on the dead man's faith... He was dead!
      I have plenty of personal, first-hand experience with seeing people healed who had no faith for themselves--perhaps close to fifty cases. I would encourage you to look beyond the dogmas of one particular movement and see what God is doing throughout the broader Body of Christ. Great results are being seen through ministries that do not function according to Word of Faith principles at all.
      One person partnering with Jesus is more powerful than all the unbelief in the world.
      Be blessed!
