"major doubts'' "surprised to shocked" concerning if Freeze got the Auburn job. Not sure if Josh has acknowledged these previous statements, but I do think his mind has changed!
Careful hiring interim coaches. Coach O did a similar thing. Brought the team to life, had that connection, and in the end we gave it to the coach who wanted it the most. Of course he brought us Joe burrow and a natty, but I think deep down we all knew he wasn’t the best one to build a winning program that could compete year after year no matter who left.
Lol. Fans are such spoiled brats. Dude steals Joe Burrow and brings a national title to the program and less than 5 years later y'all are acting like that's a small accomplishment lol
@@CharlieXFBA no one regrets 2019, but coach O basically just found the winning lotto ticket with burrow and stacked WR all orchestrated by joe Brady, dude clearly had no long term strategy and the following 2 seasons showed. Nobody wants to hire him either
@@Chris-lh7wj The fact is, most excellent coaches aren't winning buttloads of championships though. To expect every coach to be a Dabo or Saban (who by the way are going through their own struggles as of late) is just unfair and unreasonable.
There might yet be postseason ramifications. If Auburn can get past Western Kentucky, they just need to win the Iron Bowl -- yes, I know Alabama has the talent edge, but strange things happen in rivalry games -- to get to 6-6 and make a bowl game. And that would certainly be enough for the fan base to give their full support to the Cadillac.
Carnell has been so humble and inspiring. I was happy he got the interim position. He did bring some emotion back to the program. This UA Alumn lives in Opelika. 👍 I have watched a lot of classic AU games in JH. Those fans have been holding their breath waiting for Harsin to be fired since 2021. For sure Cadillac Williams was a breath of fresh air. I know exactly how much beating aTm in JH meant to Auburn fans. I was interested in the matchup and considered going to the game. Got sidetracked with Ole Miss though. Kiffin would be a home run hire, but I don't think that is the path for kiffin. I don't think he gains much from it aside from a matchup with Kirby every year.
Getting somewhat of a similar vibe out of Jimbo Fisher that I felt about Houston Nutt in his final years. He realized that contract is so huge that he’s making more money to just not do much at all than to improve anything.
As a BAMA fan, I was happy to see the energy. I have a cousin attending Auburn. We stopped talking football last year. That changed this weekend. I am not sure if Lane would be a great fit for Auburn. If he takes the job, boosters will have to let him do his job.
As a Tallahassee resident and FSU fan, all too familiar with the double-finger Jimbo feeling... serving a team as best you can and then leaving them for a better offer is one thing, but that's NOT what Jimbo did. He played out battles with the administration AND boosters in public for several years, which created a multitude of problems within the program. Afraid Texas A&M's program is reaping some of the same types of problems.
A&M is proof that you should never pay a coach more than you can afford to buy out, he can leave whenever he wants anyways contracts don’t apply to coaches so why would A&M bind itself other than because they have too much money to know what to do with
Can’t stand Auburn but even I was fired up watching Cadillac Williams reaction winning the game Almost like they won the championship. It was fun watching the end of the game
Of course he does. If he does he gets paid like 80 million dollars for doing absolutely nothing. Guy would never have to do anything again and be set for life along with his kids.
If CW is not ready for HC then Auburn should bring CW in on the hiring process, and keeping him on the staff should be a pre-condition of whoever they hire.
My guess on the two names Josh is hinting at are James Franklin and Sonny Dykes. Not saying I want either, but those are "big names" that we aren't hearing, that have some ties/coaching history in the South, and that might potentially be viewed culturally as good fits.
Went from a highschool team that hasn’t had a winning record in like 10 years to A&M going 3-7 lol. I’m used to it, but damn I was looking forward to finally going to a school that would have a winning record lol
Years ago like 2002-2003 i had transferred from Alabama to Bishop State CC to play basketball. Really wish BSCC had a juco football team. Anyway my coach was about to put me in the game (@Wallace Selma) and before i could get to the scorers table to sub in my coach pulled me back and said no you got on those wristbands and sat me down. i didn't play until the end of the 2nd half. Coach told me which wristbands i could wear during the beginning of the season. We're in mid-season conference play. i was in my birth town Selma, AL in front of my family and i was so mad and disappointed. After the season ended i transferred to the University of South Alabama and played in the collegiate club football conference league. Occasionally we would play D3 teams and other teams building up to D1. i know coaches have their own personal philosophy but if you take your player's heart out the game you might as well let him go to another team and build a trust relationship with other coaches to get that certain confidence back. The way certain coaches coach their players has their players doing way too much thinking and not reacting and not going full speed.
I would absolutely subscribe if you gave more hints than “2 huge names” lol. While I don’t doubt you, it’s a very easy proclamation to make at this point regardless, without some type of clarification it’s hard to take too seriously. As an Auburn resident for the majority of my 40 something years that has multiple degrees from AU and has been around the program off and on for quite a while I haven’t heard any big name whispers yet, and there isn’t many legitimate big names out there. The ONLY big name that seems he might fit on paper is Dabo, and I’m not sure why he would want to leave his much easier position to coach against his alma mater…
The guy wearing the baseball cap, turned backwards, with headphones on was calling the plays and running the offence he won the game for auburn. congrats to him
Cadillac isn't (likely) going to be the next head coach at Auburn, but if he is not part of the staff or administration going forward, these people are insane. Cadillac should be very pleased with what he's done so far, and Bama, look out! There's something to be said when nothing to lose meets nothing to win. I'm purple and gold and never thought I would love an Auburn player not name "Bo Jackson", but, hello, Mr. Williams! I see you! I love what you have done. Keep fighting! They are fools if they don't find a spot for you.
What happened Josh Pate, to Texas A&M, who started the season at NO. 6, and according to 'some', were on the way soon to winning a National Championship. Remember?!
8 months later: Auburn hired Freeze, Freeze beat Kiffin in the transfer portal, Freeze is currently crushing Kiffin in recruiting (2 5* 11 4* & 2 3* for Auburn) vs (3 4* & 15 3* for Ole Miss)... so far seems like Auburn hired the right man
Cadillac is to Auburn as Odell Haggins is to FSU. Should be conditionally required for him to be on the next staff. He’s a good coach and knows what the culture of success looks like at the program. I agree with Josh here. I think the next candidate is pulled out of a hat and nobody sees it coming.
The sleeves rule is specific to cold weather. Notice Evan Stewart didn’t have sleeves and it is about ball security. Now do I agree with it? No. The convo should have gone Coach: Moose no sleeves today Moose: But coach I play with them all the time. I need it to feel comfortable and my usual game day self to protect my arms. Coach: Ok, but the first time you fumble those things are coming off.
Am I missing something? In all these coaching talks I never hear Todd Monken. I hear raves about how he has flipped the script on the Georgia offense, but never on lists of potential hires. Is it because no one thinks he would leave Georgia?
The only thing they talked about when Mickey Joseph got picked as Nebraska's interim coach was that he's black. In an interview, a local reporter asked him what it means for him to be the first black head coach at Nebraska. He said "I haven't even thought about that. I don't think about that." That was one of the very first questions he was asked as Nebraska's coach. "Hey just a reminder that you're black coach, it's all I'm thinking about right now" There's a fine line between recognizing progress and conditioning minds to see race all the time. When people treat others like their skin color is their identity, it creates race obsessions. As if we need any more race obsessed weirdos running around society.
It would be cool if he got the job, but who gave him the interim job? The school or boosters? The boosters like having their hooks in the new coach because being in charge is more important to them than winning, and they'll perceive a coach who didn't go through them to get hired as a threat. If he gets the interim tag taken off, they'll have him on an impossibly short leash.
Jimbo…yes Players NIL…not really. Those freshmen are doing fine for freshman (other than the couple that were getting in trouble all year). Should have spend some on a couple of portal upperclassman LBs and OL.
Lane would be crazy to go there. If you think Lane at USC was bad just imagine Lane dealing with the Boosters on the plains that have to have their hands in recruiting.
I apologize for the long post in advance, but I have a lot to say. Coach Caddy was given a huge dumpster fire of a program three weeks ago. A team with a losing record including several huge embarrassments on national TV, a team that did not play with heart and 100% effort at all times, a team that looked and felt divided where the 1st teamers on either side of the ball played for themselves, a team that everyone thought was just "going thru the motions" at this point that didn't really care anymore whether they won or lost, a team with no pride in themselves or the school they played for, a team that was just plain sad to watch. Incredibly, in just 3 weeks time, Coach Caddy has turned the entire thing around 180 degrees despite having 0 experience as a head coach. The Auburn football team went from being a major embarrassment to a team that we can all now be proud of. He has brought the team and remaining coaches together and everyone has bought-in 100% that they can still salvage the remainder of the season. The last two games we have seen a completely revitalized Auburn team that we can actually be proud of. The Auburn football team is now an actual TEAM that plays as one towards a common goal with both heart and maximum effort, a team that plays for each other and the Auburn family, a team that does not give up, a team that plays with toughness and pride in themselves and the school they play for, and a team that truly believes-in, loves, and respects their interim head coach. Caddy has literally brought tens of thousands of Auburn fans back to the stadium with energy and excitement, ready to believe in the team again. It was Caddy that made the A&M game a sell-out crowd despite Auburn being eliminated from contention in the SEC long ago, and the very poor record of the team they were playing. He has brought tens of thousands of Auburn fans and alumni back to even watching Auburn football on TV, with myself being one of them. I was so apathetic and embarrassed to watch them play that I didn't even bother watching them on TV anymore, a dramatic change from never missing a televised game if at all possible for most of my adult life. If I even remembered to do so, I would just record the games so I could watch them if by some miracle they won another game. The TV coverage of the Texas A&M game was a huge endorsement for Auburn football. After the last 4 or 5 years of near-constant negative press concerning the Auburn football program, it was like a breath of fresh air that was desperately needed. The interview with Coach Caddy and the 10 or so minutes of post-game coverage by the SEC network where they just kept the cameras rolling inside the stadium did more to repair and elevate the image of this football program than anything I can remember in the last 5 years combined. THAT is EXACTLY what the program needed to start rebuilding and to get recruits excited about the possibilities at Auburn. Whoever is hired as the next head football coach at Auburn will owe Caddy big-time for what he has done these last 3 weeks (and most likely what he will do the remainder of the season) because it has been priceless.
Naw, he’s good for a couple years. We won’t buy him out until it gets closer to 40 million. I’ve heard from some people I know in college station that there is a rumor going on that there have been talks about a renegotiation. I guess his agent was in college station a week or so ago. Who knows, but if I was Jimbo I wouldn’t renegotiate. I’d take all the money I could. Huge lessons to be learned from our magnificent dumpster fire.
I'm roll tide and I hate Auburn however after jimbo fisher negative comments bout NICK SABAN I'm so glad Texas A&M got beat. And Cadillac Williams would be a really good coach.
Thats all great and things looking good, UNTIL, Auburn rolls in to T-town and gets that 60 point beat down headed their way. Alabama has nothing left to play for, one loss SEC team would be Tenn. Sooo we can sure make our season a winner by STOMPING Auburn in the damn ground!
Thank goodness the Iron Bowl is in Tuscaloosa this year and NOT in auburn. I'd hate to have to go there right now, with all that energy and emotion, even with as bad as auburn is this year

His time is about up. But you got to give coaches time. 2 yrs ain’t it. And look what it cost them. Did they really think Harsin would succeed really. And look what it cost them.
So much has come out about how horrible things were in the locker room and with recruiting. Auburn 247 did a great podcast about it last week. He 100% was in over his head and deserved to be fired. He never should’ve been hired to begin with.
The iron bowl will be a 4 quarter game. Book it. It will be similar to last year's game. Auburn probably wont win but it will be a one score game in the 4th. I feel like bryce young will make a play late for the win.
It feels like the players in the past bleed maroon like Bucky Richardson, Quinton Coryatt, Sam Adam, Aaron Glenn, Dat Nguyen all wanted to be at College Station and were from Texas. The 4 and 5 star players there now are just there cause a&m's in the sec and A&M is "supposed" to be good. I'd rather a & M get 2 or 3 star texas playes that WANT to be at college station. You can't half ass football you got to be ALL IN. Jackie and RC are turning in their graves.
I really like your show but don't quite get the intense focus on Auburn unless you are an Auburn guy. A win is a win but I don't think it's a big deal. A&M absolutely stinks and has quit. The bigger deal is how Fisher has allowed this to happen.
@Joshpate We where a bad play call inside the 20 on 2 and goal and throw a pass with an ex LSU guy in Koy Moore throws and int. If we score or kicked FG away from beating them. Auburn could easily be 8-2. Maybe 10 plays away…

"major doubts'' "surprised to shocked" concerning if Freeze got the Auburn job. Not sure if Josh has acknowledged these previous statements, but I do think his mind has changed!
This didn't age well...thanks for the precise insight Josh!
TN fan here. You’ll be back auburn. We’ve been there. Texas A&M has nothing to get back to…
Ready to have a “breakout season” my entire life and I’m forty haha
Careful hiring interim coaches. Coach O did a similar thing. Brought the team to life, had that connection, and in the end we gave it to the coach who wanted it the most. Of course he brought us Joe burrow and a natty, but I think deep down we all knew he wasn’t the best one to build a winning program that could compete year after year no matter who left.
I think if they offered Cadillac a job as a recruiting director that might be a prime spot
American is Football and Football is America.
If A&M had even an average offense they would have 7 wins right now 🤦♂️🤦♂️
Carnell has been so humble and inspiring.
Is Jimbo Trying to get fired? I heard a rumor that he wants to go back to West Virginia and Coach the Mountaineers.
I want to hear Kyle Field singing "Take me home country road" in unison just to piss him off.
As a BAMA fan, I was happy to see the energy. I have a cousin attending Auburn. We stopped talking football last year. That changed this weekend. I am not sure if Lane would be a great fit for Auburn. If he takes the job, boosters will have to let him do his job.
Remember Josh when you did a segment that Texas AM may be the new number two team in the SEC west?
As a Tallahassee resident and FSU fan, all too familiar with the double-finger Jimbo feeling... serving a team as best you can and then leaving them for a better offer is one thing, but that's NOT what Jimbo did. He played out battles with the administration AND boosters in public for several years, which created a multitude of problems within the program. Afraid Texas A&M's program is reaping some of the same types of problems.
Thanks, Josh! 🧡💙
A&M is proof that you should never pay a coach more than you can afford to buy out, he can leave whenever he wants anyways contracts don’t apply to coaches so why would A&M bind itself other than because they have too much money to know what to do with
I’m a BAMA grad and Cadillac Williams is a great person and was real happy for him.
What happened to all of those great recruiting classes at taamu?
Can’t stand Auburn but even I was fired up watching Cadillac Williams reaction winning the game Almost like they won the championship. It was fun watching the end of the game
What's the scoop on Hugh Freeze?
I'm starting to think that Jimbo wants to get fired. I saw he benched a receiver for wearing arm guards/sleeves.
Lol dude is worried about all the wrong things. Dude tried to build a winning culture with money lol
Of course he does. If he does he gets paid like 80 million dollars for doing absolutely nothing. Guy would never have to do anything again and be set for life along with his kids.
which is BS in and of itself. Josh even mentions that it is BS more than likely. Same kid played before with sleeves on.
Perfectly explained! Thank you!
What about A&M vs UMASS. I’m really looking forward to it & im not locking it as an Aggie fan
Lmao. If tamu loses to the minutemen, the stadium boos will be unimaginable 😂😂😂
As an A&M former student I WANT UMass to win. It would FORCE a change.
@@poodook If that were to happen, I don't see how Jimbo keeps his job.
@@poodook I live about 2 hours from college station & I wanna go SO BADLY
I actually want to lose too honestly
I am happy for CW.
Jimbo needs to give up playcalling. Bring in Scott Frost.
If CW is not ready for HC then Auburn should bring CW in on the hiring process, and keeping him on the staff should be a pre-condition of whoever they hire.
I was there and it was amazing!
We don’t want freeze or kiffin…. We want auburn! We want family! We want Caddy!!!!
He's been there as a position coach, many many moons before Harsin moved into town.
Lol
Somewhere in recruiting?
@@joshstephens6574 he’s only been on staff since 2019, was coaching at IMG before that
@@ReelDealOutdoors_TV Gus hired Caddy
No. The convo should have gone
Coach: Moose no sleeves today
Moose: But coach I play with them all the time. I need it to feel comfortable and my usual game day self to protect my arms.
Coach: Ok, but the first time you fumble those things are coming off.
TAMU seems to have a similar problem to LSU last year. Distractions. Toxic locker room. Maybe NIL has kids acting crazy
Am I missing something? In all these coaching talks I never hear Todd Monken. I hear raves about how he has flipped the script on the Georgia offense, but never on lists of potential hires. Is it because no one thinks he would leave Georgia?
I can't be the only one who caught the Jim Ross reference..👊🏼
Said the same I feel like AU needs to play FSU spark that Fire Again AU back with Cadillac
Cadillac was a great inspiration in this game ! I Hope Kiffin waits for Bama ! SteveBaggett
The only thing they talked about when Mickey Joseph got picked as Nebraska's interim coach was that he's black. In an interview, a local reporter asked him what it means for him to be the first black head coach at Nebraska. He said "I haven't even thought about that. I don't think about that."
That was one of the very first questions he was asked as Nebraska's coach. "Hey just a reminder that you're black coach, it's all I'm thinking about right now"
There's a fine line between recognizing progress and conditioning minds to see race all the time.
Franklin from Penn State will get a look.
Jimbo Fisher does not bleed Maroon.
So, the real question is did A&M overpay for Jimbo, the NIL Players or Both???
Jimbo…yes
Players NIL…not really. Those freshmen are doing fine for freshman (other than the couple that were getting in trouble all year).
Should have spend some on a couple of portal upperclassman LBs and OL.
@@dcs6500 Only if those high $$$ guys are playing for A&M Next year.....Hearing rumbles that several are gone already and more will follow!!!!!
Lane would be crazy to go there. If you think Lane at USC was bad just imagine Lane dealing with the Boosters on the plains that have to have their hands in recruiting.
Kiffin would be fired at the golden corral, before making it to the tarmac
This was a team that PSU pounded 41-12 & UGA destroyed 42-10. A&M...geez.
Jimbo lost to a running back coach. Let that sink in. Texas A&M is headed for some lean years
I apologize for the long post in advance, but I have a lot to say.
Hey A& M, Nebraska and Colorado both need a new head coach at the end of this season... just sayin'.
Jumbo is preparing for his new job as OC at Central Michigan.
Him, Jim McElwain and co. will be coaching up them Central Michigan boys
@@user-tz2zz5ij1s never seen anything like A&M. It’s not even like they’re playing football. Who the hell at A&M approved Jimbos contract?

I'm roll tide and I hate Auburn however after jimbo fisher negative comments bout NICK SABAN I'm so glad Texas A&M got beat. And Cadillac Williams would be a really good coach.
Not an Auburn fan but Cadillac Williams for head coach Auburn University
Really that's how u keep it free really..
I hope Auburn brings it and beats Alabama. They need it and they need Cadillac.
Thank goodness the Iron Bowl is in Tuscaloosa this year and NOT in auburn. I'd hate to have to go there right now, with all that energy and emotion, even with as bad as auburn is this year
I’m a Bama fan who now lives in SoCal so I’ve completely changed my view of other sec teams. Don’t hate any of them now. But damn the bot ruins these teams. Trying to keep up with Saban.
GiveNick Saban this A&M roster and he'll be undefeated lol.
Dead in the water, send in Jimbo to save the day
The iron bowl will be a 4 quarter game. Book it. It will be similar to last year's game. Auburn probably wont win but it will be a one score game in the 4th. I feel like bryce young will make a play late for the win.
We don't need a Mercedes, we have a Cadillac!
Yes, for the 2nd week in a row, Texas A&M revitalized a dead program while missing over half their own players.
Hows that tranfer Max Johnson
We thought we were the best 3-6 team, turns out we are just the best(?) 3-7 team!
It feels like the players in the past bleed maroon like Bucky Richardson, Quinton Coryatt, Sam Adam, Aaron Glenn, Dat Nguyen all wanted to be at College Station and were from Texas. The 4 and 5 star players there now are just there cause a&m's in the sec
and A&M is "supposed" to be good. I'd rather a & M get 2 or 3 star texas playes that WANT to be at college station. You can't half ass football you got to be ALL IN. Jackie and RC are turning in their graves.
Um, neither Jackie or RC are dead.
