@Mandalorian Hernández nope, he didn't: the curved brown piece on top needs to be moved forward. I haven't seen any other mistakes. Ryan is partially right though, that brown piece should be able to move in front to form a shield, but Lego can't do that at such small scale.

I remember when the set came out, I had a ton of opportunities to get it. And the best part was I didn’t even have to pay, cuz someone was gonna get it for me. BUUUUUT little stupid me then decided “nah i don’t want it.” (I regret a lot of choices I made as a little kid lol)

Design point would go to the older AT-RT in my opinion. The front shield looks so much better, nice cannon, and both are oversized so it doesn't matter too much if it's bigger. The mechanical improvements in the newer one don't make up for the design downgrade in my opinion. BARC speeder and Sniper Destroyer Droid are pretty even in my opinion.

Omg is it true that someone is thinking the same thing as me. I understand that he like the new 501st set but when you reviewed the new slave one ship you talked about the display and say “oh it has no good way to display it” but then you return to this set which you don’t play with lego sets say “oh it has way better playability and I think that makes it better” is not fair can you plz STOP doing this stuff it make me so mad.
I saw that in a lego magazine when I was a kid and I wanted it so bad.

You can actually replace the stud shooter with the 2013's canon. If you remove the stud shooter's connection point and the tiles surrounding it, you can actually fit the canon from the 2013's AT-RT into the space you just made.
It'd look way too big though IMO. You'd have to use a shorter piece.
On the left side, we have the AT-RT...
On the right side, we have the 501st battle pack...
But which is better? There's only one way to find out...

I have tons of nostalgia for the 2013 version, as that was the year I really got into collecting LEGO, and I wound up getting 3 of them.
That being said, the 2020 set is leagues better as it includes 2 vehicles, more troopers, and no named characters, which makes it perfect for army building.
i think the 2022 set is better because of the minifigs, but when you look on the design of the AT-RT i would choose the older version because there are so much more details and less stickers :D
and its also a nostalgic set i really love the older version!
I really like this type of comparison video. For the most part, comparing all iterations of a set normally has a predictable outcome that the newest is usually the best, although it is still interesting and enjoyable to see the comparison and design development. But this is a lot less predictable, with it being two rather different sets. Could be interesting to do more comparisons like this (if possible) where different sets with a common feature are ranked against each other. Nothing as obvious as this one comes to mind, but you could do it for sets with a prominent minifigure, such as comparing all the sets which feature Ahsoka Tano, or a collection of sets that would be considered microscale
Should add that it's obvious that the battle pack was still going to be the better set, but it's still nice having a video like that comparing how different things are better/worse than each other. Another example of a comparison that could be done is something you mentioned in another video Ryan, comparing 4 501st battle packs to the new AT-AT. So doing a comparison on things that match in price

I live in the U.S and if you look at the LEGO store website it says coming soon and not August 1st so I think either September or October

I really like how Lego really acknowledged and improved the design and problems when making the new at-rt
"Improved" design... you mean downgrade?. They fixed certain nconstruction techniques and made it more rigid. But its design has taken a step back

I think personally that stud shooters limit imagination and they should just focus on cooler looking weapons rather than studs getting lost all over the house
Playability-wise i had more fun and still do with sets that have realistic cannons instead of stud-shooters or flick-fire missiles.
LBricks at least make it convertible with pieces in the set.
The ATRT size complaint is totally valid. Obviously some sets are impossible to build in minifigure scale, which is why it makes sense that they’re downsized. The ATRT however, is totally achievable in minifig scale. Idk why you don’t understand this particular complaint.
Just rip the gun from the 2013 and stick it onto the 2020 and put the 2020 top on the 2013 legs and I think you got a perfect AT-RT.

Blue arms and the show realistic head make the 2013 ones way better.
The white arms look better in my opinion but the whole 2013 helmet design is way more accurate to the CW show, the new one is basically 501st clones but from episode 3 which isn’t accurate since the set is based off the tv show.

I in general prefer 2013 set overall. 2020 is just shit, 4 ugly looking 501st clones, and 2 battle droids. A horrible at-rt and a useless speeder and both sets include stud shooters as well which a I hate. But the stud shooters aren’t why I hate unlike most who prefer 2013 would say

One place on Brickset says it’s discontinued, but another place says it isn’t. Does anyone know if it’s discontinued, or is COVID messing with supply lines or something like that?

Newer one is better in every way except the cannon. I hope we get more commando droids in the future though.
I prefer the design of the 2013 one over the 2020 one, the legs look way much better on the 2013 because it’s tiled off and there is no exposed studs, which makes me feel like LEGO cheaper out on the design. I also prefer the front armor plating on the older model compared to the newer model.

Did you guys hear about the new set for the 40th anniversary for the empire strikes back? It's going to be the cloud city scene with Luke and Darth Vader. The Darth Vader will have arm printing and the luke is from the cloud city set. It will have a tile that says 40th anniversary. Set is 79254 it might be a comicon exclusive so that sucks but it does look pretty good

I hate how people blindly prefer the older sets, especially when they’re less accurate and uglier. This, however, is not that.
Put the older walker in the newer set and it's amazing.
Grant Setliff I personally like the 2020 walker. I think the size is slightly more accurate and the build is better the only thing that needs to be changed in the 2020 Walker is the turret and that’s a very easy fix

Well it’s also funny how Ryan dislikes it for being oversized but praises other sets for being bigger when they are also inaccurate. I love Ryan and his channel and I personally don’t care about accuracy here but the new walker just looks so ugly to me. The colors are a bit messy and the stud shooter on it was a horrible idea. It can be fixed with a few mods but really I only like the new set because it has 4 501st troopers

7:11 have you seen the scale of some of those ships? If all of them were built to scale no child would ever be able buy them(gift or otherwise) but with something as small as an AT-RT you can easily build that to figure scale and put it at a good price. So I guess it is technically a double standard but it’s one that makes sense.
ComLA the Rogue exactly, it’s not double standered. Why do they make only one ucs per year, cause they’re normally huge and expensive. The falcon cost hundreds of pounds. If the scale can be met, it should be if it fits within the price. We don’t get oversized speeders and stuff and have in fact had many mini figure sized ships that are accurate.

MandR the reason people complain about At-rts being oversived is because people haveade amazing ones that are on scale and people know that we can't get a minifig scale death star or other stuff like that with it being display size and the price.

I don't think stud shooters should count as good playability, the never shoot straight and makes you lose pieces. If you're playing and want some droid to be shot you have to pretend it got shot regardless of stud shooters, and the fact that you're actually firing a projectile is fun for the first 10 times because it's a novelty and then you just get tired of that shit. I'm saying this as someone that used to play with them as a child. Same goes for spring loaded shooters and flick fire missiles.
I actually managed to replace the 2020 Lego Star Wars AT-RT laser canon to the 2013 version by dismantling both of the Laser canons and somehow adding the 2013 version to the 2020 AT- RT

Hey I have a question I have this Lego figure I want to know it's rarity it's a Lego Darth Vader minifigure with an LED nonremovable saber is it rare in any way I inherited it from my uncle after he passed along with an old tie fighter ship and an imperial shuttle I can tell there old but can you explain what year they are from considering there's more than one he owned them as a kid so I think maybe the the late 1990s or early 2000s
I like the 2013 AT-RT better, but I like the how the 2020 version gives more clones, but at the end I like the 2013 clone troopers, and the 2013 AT-RT was the first lego set that my dad introduce to me, and I had good memories building little of it with my dad, and thanks MandRproductions, for making a comparison video, I enjoy it

NASHER 734 well you’ve clearly forgotten its purpose. The model version is for display only with only really 2 features. You don’t get that to fit in your mocs, you get it to have something nice. We dot. Get the Star Wars head bust cause we want a more accurate figure, we get it for display, as such, with playsets, reason big ships like falcon are smaller is cause of price and there’s a reason we have UCS. You argument doesn’t work with that BB-8
I like the older one more, but thats more so because I'm not an army builder, so I like how all three of the figures are unique
The 2013 at-rt is better looking in almost every way. Miss me with that “everything other than the gun on the 2020 model looks better.” The gun is obviously a huge factor for 2013 but also the legs are more detailed and stronger, the “shield” pieces in front of where the pilot sits has better sloping and is far more streamlined and attractive. The core is also smoother.

Honestly I dont mind the size of the AT-RTs. I just like to think that there are 2 different types of AT-RTs. The larger one is for more heavy combat zones & the smaller one is for scouting.

I remember by OMG the at rt when it came out and I opened the box but I didn’t have a sticker sheet and I was missing the head for the clone trooper hear but hey I loved that set I still think it was amazing and had some of my favorite minfigures it was actually the set that got me into collecting 501st troopers
The 2013 501st walker will always have a special place in my heart, after years of bullying for buying Legos, it was the first set that got me back into buying Lego Star wars, but from a value standpoint, that 2020 set is going to be bought in multiples

In highschool, I kept all my hobbies to myself and just went to the store on week nights or I would order online to protect my image. Once I left highschool and went to college I found alot of people who saw my collection as impressive instead of sad. So in the end it's all about finding the right people to surround yourself with

5:42 I would NOT recommend pulling it off like that, because the clip on piece on the 1x2 could break. One of my pieces broke while building a moc without applying excessive force.

I think one reason someone might like the older set better is actually the character selection. I know you gave the new set the thumbs up, because four full figures and two droids is definitely better value on paper than one full figure, one short legged figure, a droid, and a side build, but consider how the characters included contribute to playability. I’m glad the new set includes two droids, but if they are up against four clones with a Jetpack, a speeder, AND a walker, play patterns are limited. Now, to be fair, with only one clone in the old set, play value is also limited there, because once that clone dies, update is alone and it gets a little more boring, but I’m still thinking that the old set was certainly more balanced as a playset, while the new set is great for kids who want their own little army.
