I was reborn a Mod in 1980. I also love 'Bottom'. As such, what weird twist of fate took me 34 years to find this. My 8 year-old found it for me. Ashamed.
I loved loved this track except that when Georgie started playing it you knew he was coming to the end of his set albeit after going off into many musical tangents before actually finishing ! Like a Monty Python sketch you were never sure when it had completely ended as he would keep you guessing by going off into all types of other tunes &then draw you back into Last Night. I also remember him often playing in a white cosy dressing gown or was that me hallucinating in the charged electrfying atmosphere of Flamingoes in the 60's? Groovy,Fab 15 year old young girl memories which I treasure to this day 60 years later...so glad to have been a teenager then & not now!!
There's 35 seconds missing - this fadeout was merely a false ending, before the band crashed back in for another chorus and stopping - another false ending before returning for the real fade-out. It's a great album, though I find the CD version sounds more powerful than my vinyl copy.
Georgie Fame is incredibly underrated.
There'd be no SKA or Reggae in Britain without his help.
No, actually, I've seen the ratings. He did just fine. You just weren't paying attention when he happened the first time.
Great! ....and some of us still own the original LP!
great version from a great artist love this one

The white dressing gown was Udo Jürgens,
but may be he saw Georgie Fame doing it and thought: "That guy is cool!"
La belle époque de Salut les copains!.....
