In this video il show you how to install your humbucker into an acoustic electric to play bachata and also give you some advice for other ways you can get that famous bachata sound;)
So I'm glad I found this... Wanna teach myself how to play guitar (tried to learn self-taught in HS but didn't fully commit 😅) and I the one genre I want to learn with is Bachata ('cause duh).... Then transition into Blues and Rock 😁
I started the same way in high school! I started out teaching myself bachata to impress my now fiancé by just watching videos of others play, and I haven’t stopped since. Bachata has many similarities with blues and rock so you will be able to pick it up fast! Good luck and thanks for checking out the video!
Johnny Dogg hey bro thank you for watching im glad you liked the video, I just wanted to help people avoid the head aches of trying to get the traditional bachata sound.
thanks man. helps me a lot. I been searching for a way to get the same sound out of my Fender Stratocaster. finally I realise that for the best sound you'll need a specific pedal. rn I only got a cry baby pedal but ima save up for a simple chorus delay pedal for a pretty reasonable price. thank you bro!
Question, is there a good starting point when getting a humbucker? Is there a good entry-level or even mid level pick up you would recommend? Yes I went traditional. Please and thanks.
Nice video! Been searching for a tutorial like this for a while now. I was just wondering what brand of electric guitar strings do you use for the acoustic, and how would I string it on the guitar?
Thanks for posting this video. I have a question as far as your PT-3 goes. How close to that sound can you get on your Boss? Or at the end of the day is having that PT pedal not that important?
You don't need to have to pt3 to get the sound you want it's more of a preference to brand but you can definitely get the same tones from a boss pedal.
Would you get a good bachata sound with a Yamaha Trans Acoustic series guitar? I’m leaning towards Yamaha LS-TA and would love to get an opinion from a bachatero. I’m 1 year into guitar and still love it. I want a cutaway to play bachata and still want an acoustic electric guitar Thanks!
Hey man. Love your videos. I subscribed. You should definitely have more views and subscribers. Great lessons. I think if you increase the production value of them you can make some $$$! Quick questions. Any good alternatives to avoid gluing the pieces of wood to the guitar? I unsuccessfully tried finding a mounting brackets. Do you have a link if such item is sold?
Hey man thank you for watching and subscribing, i agree, im working on creating videos of much better quality. So what you could also do is buy a feedback cover for your guitar and mount the pickup in the cover that way you don't have to worry about drilling or gluing anything. There is also a mount for humbuckers that Ive bought from a website called thetonegod.com
Alicia Maria thank you for the comment! You don't have to use both pedals you would really just need to the chorus pedal for bachata but you could use the delay as to give it more flavor, what you would do is plug your guitar into the chorus pedal first then use a patch cable which is just a short instrument cable to connect the chorus pedal from the output side into the input side of the delay and then plug the delay pedal into an amp.
Alexis Angel hey man thanks for subscribing and watching! So people mostly just use wood glue or heavy duty Velcro strips but in my experience the glue is stronger just remember if one day you want to take the mount off it may damage the wood on the inside of the guitar.
I think it would even be cooler to see a Puerto Rican play a Cuatro with a humbucker like Yomo Toro used. The guitarist in Odilio Gonzalez's band used a custom for Bachata. Listen to Abusadora and David played by Conjunto San Juan, and sung by Bachatero Manuel Jimenez El Niño. The lead guitar sounds like a cuatro to me. My daughter wants to use a tres, but for me it doesn't have enough range. I stumbled on the recording way back in the early 80s. Some of the greatest Merengues, and Son on it.
Hey man I'm thinking of using your method of installing a humbucker on an acoustic guitar, but Im wondering, does these two glued woodblocks affect the acoustic sound of the guitar?
Samuel Campos hey man thanks for watching. The wood blocks have not affected the sound when I play acoustic at all, my guitar still have the same volume and tone.
@@rmatos1994 All currently sold APX guitars have AA batteries instead of 9V. I've read in a "Bachata guitar installation tutorial" that only old models with 9V preamps and capacitor work for that purpose.
@@tobisteffen hmmm that’s strange considering the apx600 models are fairly recent and I see humbuckers on those very often. Than again I can’t say the same for the 1000. If there’s a will there’s a way though.
Hola, estoy buscando a un tecnico de guitarras en New York para que me instale un Gibson Classic 57 pickup a una guitarra (para bachata). He buscado en el internet pero no aparece nadie. Agradeceria si alguien me puede dar un dato. Hi, I'm looking for someone in New York to install a Gibson Classic 57 pickup on a bachata guitar. If you know someone, would appreciate help.
davis2022 typically the white wire would be ground and the red would be the hot wire. I would solder the white wire and red wire to the matching lines for the guitar preamp. The green and black wires would be soldered together and left alone. In your case you have an extra wire that is not insulated this is not something I'm familiar with. If you are located in NYC the guitar center in queens on northern boulevard has a technician that is familiar with this guitar mod for bachata in case you can't figure it out.

Brand does matter because of quality tho

Hello quick question does a apx600 work for bachata
It should it has the same preamp as the previous gen of apx so the sound would totally depend on the pickup you choose to put in
What about a flamenco cut away. I want to use a Cordoba GK Studio and Im thinking of using a Boss AD10 pre-amp for fx
Did the glue on the pieces of wood, resist the vibrations and the weight of the pickup?
Is it possible to install a 57 classic humbucker to a new APX 1000? It doesn't have a 9V battery preamp.
I just took a look at the apx 1000 online and it appears to have the battery powered preamp, it should be possible to connect the pickup to it.

Do you have the link of the strings you use so I can purchase them
Rafael Gonzalez I just use light guage electric guitar strings man nothing fancy just make sure the are electric guitar strings not bronze.
Hey my piezo pickup is just attached to my preamp there’s no disconnection what do I do with that
What string gauge you use? Or that’s more ideal for bachata?
Alexis Angel I use 11s its a light gauge but you can go heavier it a'll depends on your preference and what is comfortable for you
Robert Matos thanks!
What is the reference of this humbucker pickup?
Peace of wood
Can you show your Bachata settings on the GT1 please!
Casz oul yea of course il upload a video by this weel
Robert Matos thank you bro, i appreciate it!
I also have the gt1. Whats the best settings for bachata i got mine set up but it kinda sounds less like a traditonal bachata
What's the tuning for it?
Either standard of Drop D
