Yet Alonzo fights like Joe with that same tiptoe movement. With that outdated hand stance and very bad timing, Alonzo was way more advanced.
AIi was the best fighter of all time, but he really could not break down other fighters(tell you their weaknesses). He acted like he'd beat George again with the rope-a-dope alone. If they fought again, Foreman would have tried to use the jab a whole lot more and not try to tire himself out. AIi would have beaten that George easier, because you don't outjab a faster boxer and the uppercuts would be fewer(opening George up for more rights and hooks); therefore, he'd outbox him as if he was Wepner or Lyle. Whereas AIi only landed a few punches a round in Zaire, his activity could rise some due to Foreman's lack of aggressiveness in the rematch! It depends on what AIi wanted to do! He could try to rope-a-dope Foreman again(which made the Lyle fight a boring one) or he could show his boxing superiority over Foreman, making it more entertaining! But, no matter what George did, he was a bad matchup for AIi. Still, a commentator guest was better at telling you how to attack other fighters and AIi wasn't good at that at all!
i think the rope a dope is a bit over sensationalized by the media. ali almost knocked big george out in the 4th round he was tagging him with quick straight shots everytime he threw them lol.
@@stevenneato3518 The rope-a-dope wasn't new then, either. I saw a Cerdan fight where he used it possibly more than 4 decades before this and I think Robinson used it with LaMotta as well. Whoever did it first was likely the originator of it. And, yet, neither used it for more than a round. It's not really the most complicated thing; it's a resting/attempting-to-not-use-your-energy-too-much tactic, an I-can't-keep-you-off-me tactic, a tactic employed upon dumb or inaccurate fighters, and/or a tactic for a wild/an enraged opponent. In having one or more of those things be true, you "umbrella" yourself in place as you'd normally do from the rain if stuck outside. Though it wasn't the most complicated thing and you could discover it by accident--without it, some fighters would have been very hard to defeat. Even some fighters that could score against it(like Frazier, Norton, or Chuvalo) could not score as well as if the opponent was not defensively locked up...

Man why isn’t Foreman trying? I get giving people a show but he’s just going way too light to the point of looking non-credible
I attended this just to see George Foreman. Little did I know I would meet him at a Raptors games several years later.
Wtf was Howard drinking that was a knockdown on Polite not a push!!!
I listened very closely to the whole video and I still can't figure out if Ali wanted Polite to lay on the ropes and cover up or not
AIi was the best fighter of all time, but he really could not break down other fighters(tell you their weaknesses).
Who's here from the new Foreman movie 2023.
Howard Cosell must have been watching a different contest. I have never heard such rubbish from a sports commentator
He was particularly disrespectful to Big George
George was the respected HW champion of the world. He should have been above such a circus act.
@@johnshogskins4443No. At the time of this event, Muhammad Ali was Heavyweight Champion. He knocked out George Foreman. Remember?
Pure pantomime from money $€¥£££€$¥€$¥££££ 😂
It looks like the dempsey/louis era this is what they were as I always told people they were novices compared to the average 70s
This was nothing but a dam circus lol!
Diggstown before Diggstown.
I agree it of the most entertaining and funny.
