    The great thing about wipeout is every drummer will play the drum fills slightly different to add their own flair, and more often that not it still works! It’s just a great song to work on chops and creativity!

    I’ve had several drum teachers over the years. I am older, let’s leave it at that. You are the only person who has ever explained accents with such clarity. I can’t thank you enough. I understand how lifting my sticks to different heights will resonate differently the sounds. It’s not that I didn’t know that before. It’s the way that you explained it. Exp. 3 inches for soft 9 inches for accent the way it was done in drum lines. You definitely rock!

    I’ve played drums for many years in two country western bands and own ten drum sets of different sizes, three are full size and a full size electric set, but my favorite drum set is on my computer, I play with my fingers and some of my songs are hard to play, the drum set I use is called ( real drum) and it’s a free download and I’ve played wipeout for many years.

    I just been curious about how Wipe Out is being taught as it was one of first goals I had when young. Let me share that I've been noticing many are confused about the accents, and there is re-recorded version where this accent pattern in this video is used, but its not the original. The accent pattern is on the 1 2 3 4, 1, then + of 2, + of 3. There are some fluctuations in the original as well. And I've heard Ron Wilson may have played it with paradiddles originally.

    • @E7MusicSchool

    Man, I found one of your "How to play" videos and browsed your channel. With that activity and useful teaching you will grow big eventually :D Drum cover videos are also popular so maybe you could add a separate drum cover video to each of your future how-to videos.
    I would appreciate a guide on different hand techniques to improve your speed. Currently I am trying to play a piece that has 190BPM drum solos in it, which is too fast for me at the moment, and I'd like to improve it.
    I'd really love your for taking on a song by Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas or One OK Rock. They have several songs that are challenging for drums and need a good explanation by a teacher :)

      @E7MusicSchool  8 лет назад +2

      very solid input, thank you!!... true covers are very popular, my sole interest is in teaching.. I've had many offers to perform, do covers etc.. i will say though that I'll look into this, may start adding covers :)

      The Drum Professor Thanks for replying! I thought, it would be great for you to do a cover and then link a how-to video at the end. I have seen many covers where I thought "wow what the hell, how do I do that", so yours would be quite different :D

    The other reason for using a 3 as the standard stick height is by doing so you are not wasting an awful lot of energy to do it. If you are using this song toward the end of a 4 hour gig and your forearm muscles are already fatigued, this could lead you to losing your time.

Isn't all about having fun. N letting a person like myself feel like a special girl. Ty for reading this. Msybe oneday.. I can actually perfect just one song. N that would be one of my gossip in life. N I will try my hardest to achieve this goal

      bmillerdrums As it is such an old song I didn't know it so when I was at a jam a few years ago I made up my own version and yes double strokes with the accents as as a R L R R pattern. My interest in drums didn't start until 1969 LZ 1 but this song has grown on me. So many old songs I don't know so just end up winging it but play War Pigs and I am on it :) . That is the beauty of jam sessions you never know what will be thrown at you.

    • @OCDrummer74
      @OCDrummer74 5 лет назад +1

      Good tip, but I believe if you end with a paradiddle, you'll end up on the left hand, so could just end with 4 singles. I believe originally it was played with paradiddles.

    • @aligndesigntile
      @aligndesigntile 5 лет назад

      That is correct. It is a great exercise when played this way and gives the left hand a chance. Straight sticking is great too

      @aligndesigntile 5 лет назад

      Alternatively you could make the last paradittle "RRLL" and end up landing your right hand on 1. I like doing it with a paradittle on the end which makes the pattern alternate between L and R when you repeat

    Its Wipe Out You can either play it or you can't I played it and learned it just by listening, far too technical

      by ear is awesome!... 1 thing I've noticed in my years of teaching is everyone learns differently.. thats awesome you can learn by ear,... many learn far better via lessons,.. including many who also learn well by ear.

    I'd play it as paradiddles and paradiddlediddles

      for sure, it's good to mix it up. For this video I was only breaking down the paradiddle, so just jammed with those :) How do you like to mix them up? There's so many ways to do it! lol.

      The Drum Professor I just watched a video of the original drummer playing it and he's playing singles like your lesson.. I've always thought and dreaded playing it at gigs as paradiddles as that's just how i heard it. Yea i play it
      Rlrr Lrll Rlrr Lrll Rlrrll Rlrrll Rlrr
      Lrll Rlrr etc. Leading with left.
      I like patterns that switch hands like that but the doubles are a killer on the floor tom.

    I don’t think I can speak for anyone else, but to me, Wipeout is WAY too easy just from listening to it to need a video explaining it.
