Back in the days of 101, she came to SC state fair and sang, on her birthday, while we sat in the rain. We didn't care, we loved her!!! Awesome always!!!
My wife and I saw her when she was with the band Highway 101 live back in like 1987 at the Holiday Star Plaza in Merrillville Indiana. I remember Paulette doing all that twirling on stage, flipping her hair, what a great show she put on. The crowd would go nuts when she did that. They were the first act followed by Tracy Lawrence and then Doug Stone who was the top billing that night. They were all great. I remember that trip we took back then like it was yesterday. We stayed overnight at the hotel there at the Plaza. We thought it was a big deal, a big trip for us, and it was. What a great era for country music.
What a performer, Paulette Carlson. She's in love with her audience. No one can top her beautiful voice. I am envious of her musicians, who get to play with such a gorgeous and accomplished performer. Fall in love with Paulette on each song she sings. I hope she tours in New Jersey. Might happen, who knows. What a joy to hear and see Paulette Carlson.
What a beautiful voice she has. Maybe the best female country voice I've ever heard, and that's saying a lot. I'm a Southerner, but love the Minnesota accent on her vocals.

My husband and I were all set to go to see Highway 101 in concert over on the Peninsula here in Washington state and my husband took off a full day from work and when we got there, there was nobody around, the concert was called off because Cactus (the drummer) had been in a motorcycle accident, we didn't know this at the time though, we found out later. But, I have always wanted to see Highway 101 (with Paulette) in concert.
What great bunch of music has emerged out of the LA folk rock scene since the days of Graham Parsons, Emmy Lou Harris, the Byrds, Sweethearts of the Rodeo and on and on.

One of the things I like best about Paulette ( besides her singing ability ) is her stage presence. She evidently spends A LOT of time choosing the clothes, shoes, makeup, hairstyle, jewelry, ect to fit the music she will be performing, In this video, she LOOKS like she should be singing this song. And she looks like a lady and not some 2 bit streetwalker poured into skin tight shiny pants with bare midriff showing.
Yes i think she should be rated right up there with Patsy an Loretta what a beautiful voice, but in all honesty she sounds like STEVIE NICKS only the country version...
