Hey posted a Q in the comments maybe you'll catch it here. Any tips for pushing an Ivy Bridge or what settings are best for titles like PS4s Spider-Man or Cities Skylines that really eat cpu? I can max out RDR2 all day leaning on the 580.
@@greendragonfly4831 the 8gb one is more than enough at least here its much cheaper than the 16gb model(almost half the price). having double the vram does not make it twice as good, since the 8gb model about 10% better than the 4gb model, the 16gb is not that far from the 8gb model. So my advice is to focus on the rest since most games you can play at full HD with 8gb, god of war on max settings uses about 6gb of vram for example, you will not get much from the extra 8gb of the 16gb model. Also if you want to play a game that would need more than 8gb the chipset on the 580 will make it so it will not be able to handle even with said 16gb. better go and buy a more modern gpu. You can get a band new 4060 for just a little bit more(where I live is about 35% more making it even cheaper than the 16gb model on promotions) but it has much more to give on many things and even with that it has a lower TDP. I myself Am thinking about the a Arc A770 16gb when its price drops when the next gen of Intel GPU comes. but until then the radeon rx580 8gb that I own is more than enough.
I just purchased a used gaming PC from pawnshop with 16GB RX 580 & Im impressed with how it plays these new games with great graphics still in 2024. The PC I purchased was only $300
For a card that is 6 years old, the RX 580 performs relatively well. We are really starting to see the card's limitations, but it still keeps chugging along.

I just got my RX 580 last month, used of course, for 62 dollars converted from my country's currency. I had some fun with it with some older titles. Can play CoD: WWII on the highest settings in 60fps smooth. It is paired with an R3 3200G which isn't the best. I have 70% of the money required to buy an R5 5600 and I am looking for a Gigabyte RTX 3060 Ti in the near future. RX 580 is more than enough, even overkill, for some ESports titles like LoL, CSGO. and a little bit of Valorant. But if you are more like me who is keen to story-driven games, then the card is usually in the goldilock's zone. Not too powerful, not too weak. Just right, 1080p medium.
@@SwingArmCity I do not really like NVIDA, their price to performance ratio is way off. I prefer AMD's products. I still have to buy a B550 steel legend first, then an R5 5600, then a Kingston Fury 16x2 3200mhz RAM and a brand new 1000W PSU. After all of that, then I can buy the 6700XT.
@@strawberrysunburst6113 Save yourself some $$ and get the AsRock B550 Pro RS over the steel legend. You dont need a 1000 watt power supply with that setup. 650-700 is all you need.
Are there any difference between the steel legend and the pro rs? I have a Gigabyte A320-S2H mobo in my setup currently. I was hoping I can buy the CPU first before a b550 mobo but I am unsure whether the CPU would work on an A320-S2H motherboard. @@SwingArmCity

I have the 16gb and it still has attitude problems with reflections and ambient occlusion. Literally 20-30% more frames if I take reflections from mid to low in any title
I'm running the 16gb with a 3770K / 32gb ddr3. Been stress-testing her with ps4 titles lately and found that Spider-Man is the ABSOLUTE limit of the Ivy Bridge motherboard. I'm running better frames than shown in most of these titles, 75 in rdr2 with all the things happening. 110 in GTA5 max settings. What settings should I adjust for more CPU-intensive titles? I'm absolutely maxed on motherboard hardware.
@@greendragonfly4831 xeons are server cpus that use the same socket,for 1155 i think Xeon E3-1290 v2 is the best cpu u can get but if u managed to oc the 3770 i dont think is worth it. maybe sell the whole kit and get a first gen ryzen in the same price range but u can always upgrade to the latest ryzen on am4

Its still fine for ps4 titles. I'm running a 3770 myself at 4.3Ghz with DDR3-2200 CL10, with vega 56 (was a RX570) and I always fps lock it at either 60fps or 30fps... My next upgrade should a leap to minimum of gen 12 or ryzen 5000 series
This isn't even running on a very expensive system and your getting good playable FPS with various settings. You don't really need to spend a ton of money anymore for PC gaming.
My first system was a prebuilt cyberpower and it had a RX 580 4gb, whenever it hit 82c it would fail and black out the screen and require a computer restart, happened hundreds of times, had it for 4 years before upgrading, cases airflow was trash as well

This one is not the 8gb one? No wonder it's so slow. I own the 8gb 580 and it is pretty good with some games like Destiny 2 hitting 90fps+ at high settings 1080p and 60fps at 1440p

This build is okay for gaming but get 8gb version of RX 580 not 4gb. GPU Vram is important now and if you can get PSU 600w. Do not buy cheap or weak PSU.

Aside from some notable examples, which are just terribly optimized games, the card still has some fight in it

Been slow-roasting mine playing ps2 titles I missed in 1080p. If you can find the 16gb model it absolutely still slays for budget builds and casuals.

More then 7 years. Original rx 480 was realesed in middle of 2016. RX480 is pefrorm like top from 2013 - R9 290X, but cheaper.

and this is the 4gb model the 8gb model is about 10% better so you will be able to play most of theses games at a stable 60 at FULLHD.

Yup 8 gb version is way to go , but in Sweden where I live RX580 4gb is like 100$ and 8gb can cost 150$ and in same price you can buy Vega 64 ...

the rx 580 specs looks good with 8gb vram but in some games gpu usage 60/80% so that means they don't optimize the game for this card ???
Make sure you specify if its 4gb or 8gb because the 4gb 580 is slightly cut down from the regular 8gb version, so it wont perform as well overall.
You can read in the description about hardware info and with the 8gb version 3-5fps more only.

When I hit 80c, the FSAA in my ps2 emulator starts throwing parties I'm not invited to on every oblique polygon. Spicy.
