Would love to participate in one of these episodes. Been a player since 2014 with thousands of hours (thats a estimated guess, I grind like a mad man) but no true number to scale it with.

Main reasons for players not finding top tier fun is because how the game changes. Everything gets fast and snappy and long range engagements gets easy. Unless u adapt fast, you won't have a fun time.
Also forgot to mention, the br compression and stock heatfs is one of the biggest painful issues in ground top tier and stock missiles in air top tier (which is partially fixed now I guess)
I got into top tier about 2 days ago, I honestly find it far more relaxing than say, sherman vs panther combat. Because at least in top tier everyone is sort of equally... vulnerable? if that makes sense. Everyone is fast, everyone punches hard, and everyone can get punched. of course there's some vehicles that are... MMM but that's every tier.
Overall I've found top tier far more relaxing than say, 5.3 to 7.3

One thing that if it would be possible would make for some interesting data is maybe recruiting 5-6 veterans, 1-2 newbies and then 1-2 ex-players, it would broad a bit the demographics and maybe make for some very interesting discussions.

In my head I thought veterans would mean 5k hrs, currently I have cloaked in about 11-12k hours and spent about 9k USD with around 20k battles
I didn't know it was possible to spend that much on this game

These are mainly ground rb mains. I really think this should be done with a group of ground and air mains
And/Or vets like me where I’ve been playing before tanks were even in the game and i have top tier in almost every mode and nation so i have quite a broad view on everything but yeah for sure a mix would be nice since all of them mostly always went the same way for each question

i like volumetric, game is going towards realism, and i like dat
1 thing they forgot about Top Tier is the HEAT/HEAT-FS as stock which makes it incredible hard to grind through modifications and APFSDS being a Tier 3 and 4 modification. Top tier without APFSDS is just a disease and capable of giving you an aneurism to be honest.
Doesn't help that some nations have advantages, like USSR, which I main, it is an interesting case because Russian tanks have extremely powerful high-explosive rounds when you get to the T-64 with its 125-mm and so on and so forth. But the specifics of using HE-FRAG is still quite specific, and it is unfair that Russian or Eastern tanks have this enormous stock advantage due to the the HE round being easily more powerful and stupidly consistent compared to HEAT-FS.
So basically you in your M11P has to shoot my T-80 or T-72B with a HEAT round, does little or no damage, and I or some other Russian style tank can lop a HE-FRAG into your top and you are dead.
@@taelorpickel2830 Personally I find very little trouble with using HEAT-FS in top tier due to penetration... What does get me killed however is the significantly lower muzzle velocity

Just realized that I’m technically a veteran since I picked up the game in 2013, before ground even came out 😬
Volumetric is not good as it is right now, but being a player from 2012 it is WAY better than it was back in OG ground forces. Every second shot was a "trap shot" (bouncing the projectile under the turret into the driver's hatch). I'm not even kidding, imagine if breech massacre was always a guaranteed one shot kill. And the fun thing is that there was a time when you had a King Tiger battling an overpowered IS6 and you could do absolutely nothing about it frontally, and the only thing balanced this fight was the trap shot. Game was a mess back then, way worse than today.

spending money on this game has been hard to me i have a email on my wt id which i made when i was a literal brainded teen hadnt verified previously so now i cant remember the password and neither cant i recover it so iam stuck with just a warthunder id in which i can purchase thing only using steam which takes off every discount the game has currently put in so i have to buy things at full prize so yeah not too nice for me is it ,when i am looking towards purchasing things .hope there was a way to contact gaijin about this
The money I spent in the game was worth it is definitely true for me. I spent over several months of time about 300 to 500 dollars on the game to grind my way up to the m1 abrams and I don’t regret it one bit. I love the abrams tanks and I still am spending some money here and there to grind the last couple of abrams and m60 tanks at top tier.
I played war thunder when there was only Arcade battles for ground , my laptop died and when I returned the Americans were just getting introduced

The problem with paying a lot for War Thunder is that the grind is still SOO long, even with premium time and vehicles. At almost 2k hours of play, I still have nothing above 7.7. My premium time recently ran out, and unless Gaijin makes some huge changes I'm probably never truly coming back.

But I would never be able to be more than neutral because the game is not advertised that way.
Its advertised as a free to play game and so In my mind either the game or the advertisement needs to change. Otherwise the money will never be morally worth it even if its worth it experience and content wise.
They speak almost only for Ground Battles, in air things are different

i have about 500-600h in warthunder but i allways am top on the team and i can agree to most of the veterans in this video.
I know different armour types have different effects. I'm not talking composite or era. I mean for example structural steel and rolled homogeneous. Could you do a review of this? I know 100mm of one steel will not protect the same as another.

Some of these guys have shockingly low hours tbh. Like playing from 2013 and only having 2.3k or from 2016 and 1.9k

SEVEN AND A HALF THOUSAND HOURS WHAT THE FUCK
I play since 2019 and have 2300h in game and a 3.4k investment
I personally am upset at 3 things playing since 2012
The economy is terrible for the amount of vehicles and their costs
The premium "packs" are terribly overpriced and theres never been any neat discount combo packs since way back
In example I got a small pack where I got pz2 H and DAK with a little ge, That's a pack
And last, missiles have been a terrible addition to the game.
I play since closed beta 2012. Still love and hate the game.
As an Air RB player, I find top tier to be not fun. It would be fun if you are flying an aircraft with the best missiles, good radar and BVR, but it lost the essence of what made air battles fun for me. It lacks a certain dogfighting skill.
It's all radars, missiles, point, click, shoot and flare. Ya can get the occasional gun kills, but dogfighting seems to just basically gone.
I like jets, but the early jets with none of those advanced stuff. I prefer 9.0, where your aircrafts are becoming so good that battles tend to happen at higher, more fun speed, but you're still reliant on your guns and where dogfights remain the essence of planes. You have missiles, but we all know that AIM-9Bs are more of a situational tool than dreaded weapons that makes dogfighting irrelevant, which makes it even better.
Again, not everyone thinks like me. Many like top tier for the same exact reason why I hate it. So, it really depends on the player. Oh, and the plane itself. If your aircraft doesn't have access to good BVR missiles, radar and dogfighting missile, you'll probably suffer.
I actually like ships more than tanks and aircraft, but not in WT. There are very few ships, and the gameplay is... weird. If they gave the mode a little more love i would play it a lot. That is not a big deal, because i still love tanks and planes, but in case of naval i still prefer World of Warships.
Back in the day was far better. Historical events that had completely full lobbies like guardian angel, battle of britain, flight of swallows, battle of kursk etc with objectives that actually took more brainpower than cap point and kill enemy. Seriously if you never got to play guardian angel i pity you.
Far better BR balancing and no compression at the end of the tech tree. Mig 17 vs Sabre was the most balanced the game has ever been. Now we have at 8.0 the gepard and other radar AA pieces and your expected to run cas against that in a meteor somehow as well as a lot of other bogus like the sheer amount of prototype vehicles in the game based largely on incomplete data.
Been playing since at least 2013 since i have the old guard but i will say, as a spectacle and with "wow factor" the game has improved. Graphically mainly but in most gameplay and mechanics ways i would say its gotten worse over time. Events are barely ever run now and if they are they are pretty much dead lobbies. The tiering system is a complete joke from 8.0 upwards and gaijin have started to incorporate the moba sales model for new vehicles with the majority of the top tier jets and new premiums being absolutely busted for a few weeks when they first release and then being nerfed down to sane levels.

What's volumetric?
Back in the day tank shells didn't have a height or width, they were pretty much a single pixel. After an update though, Gaijin added actual sizes to shells, hence the name volumetric shells. This meant that hitting small weakspots got a lot harder, which caused some controversy even to this day

back in the day sucked. you could get physics killed by the map with invisible rocks.
Back in the day was when there were tanks in the game.........oh my no wonder you think things weren't better. No the old times, the true old times that's when there were 4 tech trees all planes nothing else. back when you could make money in high tier without premium. now those were the days.

Nobody mentions the fact that Russian top tier tanks had a stealth buff that greatly reduced spalling and ammo detonation. Don't even get me started on the weird ass ricochets and damage you'll get on lower tier Russian vehicles.
To be honest I've never understood people that keep whining about Russia, the nations balanced in my opinion in top tier any player who knows where to shoot will kill A t72 or t80 in shot and I know from both perspectives never seen less spawling only bad shots that people try to excuse....... over 50% of top tier russian tanks get shot once and detonate I see it everyday lmao.
And as for mid or low tier Russia its the same thing if you know the week spots its really easy to kill them heck I one shot t34s from the front with a 75 sherman and the kv 1s are also 1 shotable the weird bounces happen to every tank at every tier in my personal experience the most tank that I get that with is my Leo 1 I've bounces t30 shots before or had shots that pen and barely do damage that's a game issue not Russian bias.
It really is a skill issue most of the time and when it's not its a bug that happens to everyone...
Nobody mentioned this "stealth buff" because its not true and if they did change something its had 0 effect on gameplay if you take average shots expect average outcomes

I also like volumetric. I hated pixel sniping. I think volumetric nearly always makes sense from a physics perspective of a real round impacting at the angle and location it hits. OTHER THAN RUSSIAN MBT SPALL SLIDERS, I feel like nearly every shot's damage result makes sense spatially for the round hitting where it hit.
That said, I've had a ZSU-57-2 bounce my dart from an XM-1 at 400m and deal 0 damage (I think it's in the XM-1 video I have posted) and a few other strange ones, but I'm talking 99.9% of my rounds behave as expected from the distance, angle, and impact point. The old pixel shooting system felt so cheap and overly arcadey; the present-day state of volumetric is flat out better. Overlapping armor and round size "feel" correct.
While I'm here, increase spawn cost for heavies and lower their BR .3 across the board. Make them breakthrough tanks that cost a lot more SP instead of slow medium tanks relative to their BR because they get uptiered until their armor is ignorable. This used to be how they handled it, and as soon as they changed their spawn costs they started being nerfed with BR raises until they became useless slow mediums. The beauty of the spawn cost system is you can decide how much impact a vehicle is allowed to have by changing their spawn cost. A vehicle with twice the impact can cost twice the SP and be twice as important to kill instead of raising their BR until they have the same or less impact as lights and mediums because their armor doesn't matter.
