What a nicely made video! So much going on in it! I should really follow your example! I love to knit, just to keep my hands busy. I love my acrylic socks. They are warm and durable no matter how I wash them!
I've made a couple crochet pair ... which is what I'm comfortable with. I am sitting here studying youtube videos for casting on LOL. I made both pair of crochet socks toe up, but it look like I might be trying cuff down for knit. Found The Humble Sock pattern by Nikki Burns on Ravelry ... hoping it will be easy to follow!
Hi Molly, thank you very much for the lovely videos. I enjoy your podcasts very much and I love the vlogs. They are an extra special treat when I see that one is uploaded. I think that it's a format that will do very well for you. Thanks again.
I really love your vlog format. Watching your vlogmas videos where you shared German Christmas traditions and today seeing the children sledding with their "wooden" (holy cow not plastic) sleds, then seeing Ruby with her dollies....I had such a feeling of yesteryear, old fashioned times. It felt very inviting and warm. Thank you for taking the time to vlog. I know having 2 children is very, very consuming!
You always warm my heart with your words of kindness Carolyn :) I love that YOU love watching my vlogs. I completely agree....the wooden sleds used here are the best !!! Everyone uses them !
To stay warm during winter is so individually from person to person. A mainrule here in Norway, is to wear wool close to the skin, you stay warmer that way. Because wool is breathing. They say that alpaca is warmer than wool. Have you tried alpaca for socks?
I'm loving these more personal vlogs! So fun. :) I will have to investigate about the BFL vs. merino for sock knitting--my husband has said that his feet are still cold wearing handknit socks (he plays hockey, so he's out in cold temperatures a lot!), and I'm wondering if switching up my materials would help!
They really are fun to make !!!! I hear your husband on the Merino socks not being warm enough on super cold days when outdoors. Have you knit him a pair of BFL or DK/Sport weight socks ??!
I really liked the segment in which you talked about which sock yarns you are finding are warmer than others. My feet are always cold...always. The BFL base sounds lovely! I came to your podcast from wool berry fiber. Someone had commented that you were from WI as well. I am originally from there as well! Miss the snow from time to time. Anyway I'm going to have to browse your channel now! I have a little girl as well. She is 2.5. My son is 9. Happy Knitting💖
Molly.Hi.I know you well for a fantastic yarn producer. Today I am full of tears and listened to your picked BGM Hikaru Utada again and again. Always great to know my nationality's art is loved by someone far away. You are full of motivation and sure of ability but please extra care and love yourself.
Another great video Molly!! Your vlogs have inspired me to take on vlogging versus just podcasting because it just seems so much more personal and just slightly easier than setting aside a large portion of the day to podcast and edit etc :) love catching up with you!
I love watching you with your little girls. I feel like we are living somewhat parallel lives in opposite parts of the world. My girls are almost the same age.
Cotton socks under wool socks will give you cold feet. Wool next to skin isulates way better. I learned that the hard way when my son was in kindergarten. Here in Norway you get storebought high quality wool socks in a lot of different brands, and they are great even for sensitive skin.
Ooh....I feel famous! Next week Alanna and Nels will find out what they're having! I love Dewdrop and Peony, so I'm hoping to order something next week. Now, what should I knit?? Love from your Aunt Becky❤️
So interesting about the socks! I don't have many merino socks...actually most of mine are commercial yarns (esp Regia). Any clue what kind of wool Regia uses? Also, very jealous of the snow but happy for you. Frankfurt doesn't seem to get much and the little we got melted immediately. :(
I have no idea which wool Regia uses !!!! But I am quite curious as well !!! The snow here melts almost immediately as well. We have had snow falling all day....but it is constantly melting. Still beautiful though :)
Just found you - super awesome and I am your newest subscriber! I hate to sound stupid, but I am so new to sock knitting - what is BFL? Thanks in advance dear!!
Hello Celine! I do discuss this in a previous vlog. But of course understand that not everyone has time to watch them all :) The home we were 'hoping' for, wasn't the right home for us. And so, we are now HAPPILY living somewhere else
The wool of a BFL is classified as a longwool breed because of the way their locks of wool are formed. Its fleece is in high demand from handspinners and fiber artists because of its “next to the skin” softness and lustrous shine :)
i love seeing people knitting, its fascinating how we all knit differently.. love it..
I thought that might be a fun clip to add :) Happy you enjoyed it

As someone that is just starting to venture into sock knitting, I REALLY appreciate the tip about bases with cashmere in them!! Thank you
No problem :) Cashmere makes lovely soft socks, but I wouldn't recommend it for a hard wearing pear. They are quite luxurious though

i love these old vlogs...makes me smile..

Vlogging has really been such a joy throughout my day :) I am happy that you enjoy it too

Your videos always bring a smile to my face. They are beautifully edited.
So happy to hear that :)
I always enjoy your vlogs. Thanks for the warm sock tips.
Super cute! The sock, you and your little one! Thank u for sharing I adore knitting socks! Love all of your vids! Warm and cozy love! Xoxo
Love this so much! Especially the Wisconsin mug!
Being from Wisconsin....that mug is a must :) Haha !!! Are you from WI as well Wendy ?!
Yep! Although I am living in Iowa now. The mug reminded me of summer vacations to Grandma's cabin in the north woods and going to Ben Franklin.
Bless you for another fantastic VLOG :)
Another great one in the books!! And thanks for the cashmere/merino tip!! Enjoy your cookies 😀
So happy you enjoyed it Ruby

I can't believe you're using that song Molly! I've loved that song since I guess 12 years ago :)

Love this version of Utada Hiraku's "First Love" you used for the background music

It really is much easier than weekly or a bi weekly podcast !!!
I love watching you with your little girls. I feel like we are living somewhat parallel lives in opposite parts of the world. My girls are almost the same age.
How lovely would it be if you could come over for a visit with your kiddos and the children could play while we hang and knit :)

Oh my goodness...what interesting words of advice on the socks. It makes TOTAL sense, however. I will definitely give this a try.
Thanks for your thoughts on BFL vs Merino for warmer socks. Good to know here in Northern Michigan
Just found you .. N oh my gosh.. The snow ❄ ❄.. I've yet to experience it .. Love it ..
Ooh....I feel famous! Next week Alanna and Nels will find out what they're having! I love Dewdrop and Peony, so I'm hoping to order something next week. Now, what should I knit?? Love from your Aunt Becky❤️
Could the differences you are noticing be caused by superwash - BFL is rarely treated to be superwash - or by spinning style- worsted vs. woolen?
have you ever tried socks on a 9' circular? its so quick, you can also change to DPNS at the heels :D
I have !!! I am definitely no fan.
it def takes a lot of getting used to , but once you get the hang of it you soon through the leg part at least!
ooh! Yummy cookies. I gotta go make some too now... :) xo
haha :) Did you end up making some cookies ?! What kind !!!!!!?
I totally got distracted and now I'm making pizza dough! As soon as my mixer is free I think I'll make chocolate chip. :D

Blue Faced Leicester sheep.
hello there , celine from ny..(ny) did you ever get a house?... love your videos... I'm also a fiber + artist... :)
Hello Celine! I do discuss this in a previous vlog. But of course understand that not everyone has time to watch them all :) The home we were 'hoping' for, wasn't the right home for us. And so, we are now HAPPILY living somewhere else
what does bfl mean please?
Jean Bean I would like to know that too, please.

Why OK thanks much! 😁
