Nik was a good Dad to Spencer when he was young. Spencer did spend some time w Grandma Leslie. But you guys forget, Spencer was such a precocious little boy. He had all the family's love as a boy. Some are making out like Spencer was an orphan. NOT!!
Obviously Spencer wasn't an orphan and he did have family but Nicholas wasn't always there. He put Spencer in boarding school and during that time Nicholas faked his death for 3 years , which devastated and hurt Spencer deeply. When he 2as a boy Nicholas was there but not when he was growing up.
People we have to remember Spencer’s reaction when he found out Esmè tricked him and set to destroy their family because of Ryan all along. He was DEVASTATED! And he basically said, if he ever got the chance to see his father again he would be DIFFERENT! This is just consistency on the writers part. I always knew due to that episode, if Nik came back, Spencer would cut him some slack. Give Ace to Nikolas level of slack? NOOOOO! 🤣 Didn’t see that coming at all and I don’t understand HOW he’s ( Spencer) getting out of this mess… But I did expect him to be cool with his dad and forgive him.

But the way Spencer tried to rationalize that "how else to learn how to be a father except through practice" pretty much pointed that Nik would be raising Ace. I think at some point Spencer's going to end up joining them. NAC needs a temporary exit while he's filming his new project for Netflix. And I really like Adam Huss's Nikolas. He brings a sincerity to the part that Marcus Coloma never did. And he really makes you believe that he loves the boys. And that he is genuinely sorry and regrets everything that happened, including choosing a woman over his son.

I don’t believe charges or an arrest warrant was put out for Nik yet. So he’s not a fugitive. Just a deadbeat dad. And pretty sure amnesia Esme wasn’t conniving enough to file for full custody or file for a restraining order.

Escalator has had Primary custody. Now he shows up & takes Ace w/o her permission. That's kidnapping. I almost feel bad for her. Now she's rly gonna go bad to being evil.

TC & NB built a beautiful bond. Hopefully, Nikolas and Spencer will get back to that bond someday, especially with Tyler's passing....they owe it to him to redeem the character.

The summer eruption before Pentonville, the fight about Ava and Spencer facing consequences before Spring Ridge, the custody battle before Ava "killed" him, now this mild disagreement about Ace being raised by which parent. I love the parallel of Spencer saying goodbye to his baby half brother in the same living room with the parent who is taking him away listening at the entrance. Less tears, more fear, but equally touching. Spencer is trying so hard to stay strong this time.

Ok, I don't like Adam as Nikolas at all but, that said, I am so glad Spencer did this. He did this because he is certain Esme has her memory back and partially back to her old self and lying. Therefore he can't trust her. He promised Trina a while back he would never put Ace before her again. He's trying to do the responsible thing. And this is the way to get that done. He can't trust Esme to do the right thing at all and he doesn't trust his father enough but he has to do something. If he kept Ace the cops would just give him back to Esme. Lesser of two evils is Nik. This is actually logical, scary as it sounds.
He deserves a chance. The guy has shown he can add depth & layers to the character. He spends his time studying past videos of Nikolas. His version of Nikolas has shown that he genuinely loves his sons....we couldn't even get the previous dude to emote.

She went screaming at Trina and losing it when Trina said she and Spencer were going to Paris. Esme needs to be a responsible mom and she lost it. Ace would be able to see her being upset and that is not good at all. Spencer told her he would take care of her, but no romance and Trina just told her the same thing. Nikolas wants his son, and is entilted to him. Spencer technically can't stop him, as he has no legal rights to him. Gh is also wrapping this up because it's dragged on long enough, and Trina/Spencer need a life. Nikolas has the resources, and money to take care of him. Baby boy practically jumped right into his arms.

I was hoping that Spencer would have been agry with Nicholas much longer and that he didn't tell him that Esme may have her memories back. He should have kept that to himself for now , and when the time was right then he could reveal it. I'm glad that Spencer is putting Trina first and decided to stay , but what I don't get is that he said to Nicholas that he doesn't trust him so why let him take Ace?. Nicholas' reasons are is to protect Ace but how is Spencer going to explain himself out of this with Esme and Laura?. The end of clip Esme is there for Ace what is Spencer going to tell Esme? He might say that the nanny took him out for awhile why he isnt there, but she could tell him to call her and have her bring Ace back at Laura's. Hopefully he doesn't say that he knows her memories are back and that's why he gave him to his father. He would have to explain his father returning in the first place.

I take it more as confronting her attacker so that she can let her anger go. It wasn’t for Esme, it was for her. She only engaged with Esme longer because Esme ran after to her. And once Esme called Trina selfish and complained ‘what about me’, Trina made it clear where she and Spencer stood. Because they are the ‘we’ that Esme desperately wanted to be in with Spencer.

Trina loves Spencer and he loves her. Esme used Spencer and did not love him. He feels so free with Trina, Esme is like he was in hell.
Really enjoyed these scenes. A few things that I’m keeping my eye on as we continue though. I still feel like they’re writing this story in a way to make Esme look sympathetic. I’ve already heard ppl putting the responsibility on Heather for her influence and now I’m sure there will be ppl who blame Spencer for her behavior. But what else can I expect from gh? They’ve never been willing to just let Sprina have their wins. It’s always about how to salvage a failing character. Hope they prove me wrong. Doubt it though. And to the folks saying the turnover with Spencer and Nik was quick…yes it was. However, I’ll just say that I once talked out a 3 month long argument with a family member over a 20 min mela at Burger King lol. So it’s not impossible that they’d move on quickly. And of course we know the show wanted to move swiftly bc of NAC filming his new show. So don’t be surprised if we get a little whiplash.

It seems like their plan was to basically put the character on ice(like how we saw him this summer), but decided to use him more efficiently once they realized it would be a while. But you’re right. They wasted so much this year when it comes to Spencer and Trina.

The turnover wasn’t quick. Spencer came to the realization of his part in what happened between them when Ava told him about Ryan’s part in it all. He blackmailed Nic to get custody of Ace, so he knew he wasn’t innocent. He felt he was why Nic didn’t come back. Spencer hides his feelings. So to not think about his part in what happened, he lashed out at Nic, saying he was doing what he always did. I wish Nic could tell Spencer that he didn’t run, but was fighting for his life, but Nic doesn’t want to get Ava in trouble. That says a lot, that he’s willing to take all the heat for the time he’s been gone. I’m glad Ace is out of the picture. Now Esme can be Esme. Let the games begin

this is why i can't stand GH writers sometimes. This makes absolutely no sense. Anyone who claims to love a child would not leave a 1 year old with a complete stranger no matter what. Spencer had so many other options than to have Ace with someone he's never even spent a day with. How traumatizing for Ace to be suddenly away from everyone and everything he knows. Given how Spencer lost it when Esme moved how can he put Ace through this? For Nicholas who has done nothing to earn his trust. If anything Spencer should leave Ace with Laura. Now Spencer has compromised himself, his future, all because the writers cannot find a smart way to do this. And need to manufacture some drama to get them off canvas for a while. I truly believe this will impact Trina and maybe she will go to Paris without Spencer or they will break up. It was totally out of character for Spencer to trust Nicholas so much and to put his wants over Ace's needs.

He can't trust Esme to do the right thing at all and he doesn't trust his father enough but he has to do something. If he kept Ace the cops would just give him back to Esme. Lesser of two evils is Nik. This is actually logical, scary as it sounds.
He deserves a chance. The guy has shown he can add depth & layers to the character. He spends his time studying past videos of Nikolas. His version of Nikolas has shown that he genuinely loves his sons....we couldn't even get the previous dude to emote.
@tagapril42, Spencer also saw how Ace just lovely went to Nicholas and was content. I had hoped what Martin told Esme in the courtroom not to mess up. She went screaming at Trina and losing it when Trina said she and Spencer were going to Paris. Esme needs to be a responsible mom and she lost it. Ace would be able to see her being upset and that is not good at all. Spencer told her he would take care of her, but no romance and Trina just told her the same thing. What is it that Esme does not understand? Esme will lose Ace if she keeps this up. Ace is a wonderful baby. Esme, you will get help with him but stop trying to break up Trina and Spencer and raise your son with your love.

Nikolas wants his son, and is entilted to him. Spencer technically can't stop him, as he has no legal rights to him. Gh is also wrapping this up because it's dragged on long enough, and Trina/Spencer need a life. Nikolas has the resources, and money to take care of him. Baby boy practically jumped right into his arms.
@@Dee-jp6no I never saw a baby do what Ace did and he was so comfortable with him. He looked at Spencer for a second, like is it ok for me to be in my dad's arms and laid his head on Nicholas's chest. That was too cute to me and he will not hurt his son at all.

@@hiveship1 Things change, and nothing stays consistent with soaps. When Nikolas first came to town back in the 90s, he was just like Spencer. I like that Nikolas and Spencer are on the same page for once, instead of at one another's throats.

I still love Spencer. I posted a clip from 2-3 years ago of Spencer telling Nikolas and Ava how the Cassadines will have misguided actions that hurt people even when with the best of intentions.

Agree this was a big misstep by the writers. No way would Spencer entrust his wayward father to care for Ace while on the run from the law.
I don’t love that he just let Nikolas take Ace tbh… i just don’t think facilitating a kidnapping will allow him and Trina to be free from Esme. I’m worried about the consequences of this decision.

I was hoping that Spencer would have been agry with Nicholas much longer and that he didn't tell him that Esme may have her memories back. He should have kept that to himself for now , and when the time was right then he could reveal it. I'm glad that Spencer is putting Trina first and decided to stay , but what I don't get is that he said to Nicholas that he doesn't trust him so why let him take Ace?. Nicholas' reasons are is to protect Ace but how is Spencer going to explain himself out of this with Esme and Laura?. The end of clip Esme is there for Ace what is Spencer going to tell Esme? He might say that the nanny took him out for awhile why he isnt there, but she could tell him to call her and have her bring Ace back at Laura's. Hopefully he doesn't say that he knows her memories are back and that's why he gave him to his father. He would have to explain his father returning in the first place.

Between Trina singing like a canary to her enemy unprovoked and Spencer handing over his lil brother to a father who has disappointed him on numerous occasions. I dont get it, makes zero sense!
I take it more as confronting her attacker so that she can let her anger go. It wasn’t for Esme, it was for her. She only engaged with Esme longer because Esme ran after to her. And once Esme called Trina selfish and complained ‘what about me’, Trina made it clear where she and Spencer stood. Because they are the ‘we’ that Esme desperately wanted to be in with Spencer.

Trina should not fear Esme, she is Spencer's girlfriend, and she stands her ground with Esme. In the past Trina held her peace because of Ace and Spencer but no more will she. Trina loves Spencer and he loves her. Esme used Spencer and did not love him. He feels so free with Trina, Esme is like he was in hell.
Really enjoyed these scenes. A few things that I’m keeping my eye on as we continue though.
I still feel like they’re writing this story in a way to make Esme look sympathetic. I’ve already heard ppl putting the responsibility on Heather for her influence and now I’m sure there will be ppl who blame Spencer for her behavior. But what else can I expect from gh? They’ve never been willing to just let Sprina have their wins. It’s always about how to salvage a failing character. Hope they prove me wrong. Doubt it though.
And to the folks saying the turnover with Spencer and Nik was quick…yes it was. However, I’ll just say that I once talked out a 3 month long argument with a family member over a 20 min mela at Burger King lol. So it’s not impossible that they’d move on quickly. And of course we know the show wanted to move swiftly bc of NAC filming his new show. So don’t be surprised if we get a little whiplash.

It seems like their plan was to basically put the character on ice(like how we saw him this summer), but decided to use him more efficiently once they realized it would be a while. But you’re right. They wasted so much this year when it comes to Spencer and Trina.

The turnover wasn’t quick. Spencer came to the realization of his part in what happened between them when Ava told him about Ryan’s part in it all. He blackmailed Nic to get custody of Ace, so he knew he wasn’t innocent. He felt he was why Nic didn’t come back. Spencer hides his feelings. So to not think about his part in what happened, he lashed out at Nic, saying he was doing what he always did. I wish Nic could tell Spencer that he didn’t run, but was fighting for his life, but Nic doesn’t want to get Ava in trouble. That says a lot, that he’s willing to take all the heat for the time he’s been gone.
I’m glad Ace is out of the picture. Now Esme can be Esme. Let the games begin

this is why i can't stand GH writers sometimes. This makes absolutely no sense. Anyone who claims to love a child would not leave a 1 year old with a complete stranger no matter what. Spencer had so many other options than to have Ace with someone he's never even spent a day with. How traumatizing for Ace to be suddenly away from everyone and everything he knows. Given how Spencer lost it when Esme moved how can he put Ace through this? For Nicholas who has done nothing to earn his trust. If anything Spencer should leave Ace with Laura. Now Spencer has compromised himself, his future, all because the writers cannot find a smart way to do this. And need to manufacture some drama to get them off canvas for a while. I truly believe this will impact Trina and maybe she will go to Paris without Spencer or they will break up. It was totally out of character for Spencer to trust Nicholas so much and to put his wants over Ace's needs.
Laura and Spencer aren’t legal guardians. And unless Esme asked for a restraining order or filed for full custody, Nik still has rights to his son.

This is wild. Spencer just handed over Ace. Esme is going to lose it and rightfully so. Spencer would have never did this but Esme revealed her true self. She didn't deserve to have her son taken away. She should have been given the chance to prove herself. I understand the fear she would use Ace to her own advantage but Nicholas has never been a good father to Spencer.
Why because she’s a mom? She’s been using Ace to her advantage since he was born. And that was with her memories of feeling justified for drugging two people.

Esme lost it when she broke into Windermere and realized what type of person she really was. She also lost it with Trina today in the courtroom. She was screaming and yelling at Trina and should have gone straight to pick up Ace. Spencer and Esme were over with before she started sleeping with Nicholas, move on Esme, and raise your son. Esme didn't care about Ace when she was pregnant with him, she fell backward off of that parapet and said: Whatever happens Ace, I mommy will be with you.
