- It has been raining for a few days and has damaged my drainage trenches a bit. I have to start work by removing the sodden clay and water from the trenches.
I lay geotextile in the trenches, stretch the drainage pipe over it and backfill with gravel to a height that will allow me to wrap the geotextile on gravel - this creates a tight sleeve that will protect the gravel from silting up.
Every 20 metres I install inspection sumps through which I will be able to clean the drainage pipe every year.
The whole job took me five days, the drainage is 105 metres long and I manually moved 57 tonnes of gravel to backfill it.
Finally, I make steps in the slope out of damaged foundation logs taken out of our house.

Hello! I just subscribed to your channel with all the notifications. I liked the objectivity, the music, the "silence of words", the editing and, as a defining point: subtitles in Brazilian Portuguese. However, when I went to watch other publications, there was no subtitle option for Portuguese-Brazilian. If it is not going to generate much work, please include this option in future editions. There is some work to be done with YT translations. With each video I usually add a few languages, testing new translation languages as well - that's what happened with this video. For future videos, I'll be adding Brazilian Portuguese as standard.

The cable is useful for me to run electricity to the well. The wells give access to the pipes. Once in a while you can slip a garden hose through them and sweep the pipes with a strong jet of water.

The tree roots at he end of the drain will grow through the slits in the pipe over time and block the drain, trust me been there🙁

Kan nur noch den kopf schütteln. Habe selbst ein 300 jahre altes haus. Wurde ein betonriegel (satte mischung) drumherum gelegt. Lehm entfernt. Feuchterand retzt 20 ch höher. Das packlager braucht für die haltbarkeit auch lehm! Gibt es in der region keine sanierbetriebe mit erfahrung?
I don't know how your house was made. I make a concrete foundation only up to the ground level, i.e. to the level that is wet, regardless of whether it is made of clay, stones or concrete.
I will put a layer of damp proof insulation made of roofing felt on the concrete, then stones on cement-lime mortar, another layer of roofing felt, then a layer of bricks laid upright and the last layer of felt roofing on cardboard on which will be the foundation log.
This house required replacing the foundation logs precisely because it was not properly isolated from the ground.

Over time, drainage pipes may become silted up, clogged and the drainage will stop working. Through such an inspection well, you can insert a hose into the drainage pipe and rinse the pipes with pressurized water.
