Altenstein Castle is a ruined castle in Altenstein (Markt Maroldsweisach) in the Haßberge district in Lower Franconia. The ancestral seat of the von Stein zu Altenstein family, which died out in the 19th century, is around 40 kilometers north of Bamberg and has been in the care of the Haßberge district since the late 20th century. The castle complex was renovated around the turn of the millennium and developed for castle studies.
