- Györ, the Hungarian city on the Danube, is an ideal location for the manufacturing of high-tech engines and cars. Its merits lie not merely in the high availability of skilled workers and highly qualified university graduates.
AUDI HUNGARIA MOTOR Kft., a fully owned subsidiary of AUDI AG, builds over 1.9 million engines there each year, and assembles the Audi TT model range and the A3 Cabriolet, among other vehicles, in tandem with the Ingolstadt plant. Audi Hungaria is the principal engine supplier of the Audi and Volkswagen Groups, one of Hungary's highest revenue enterprises and also one of the country's biggest exporters.
ENGINE MANUFACTURING - Engine production (pre-series) started as long ago as the end of 1993. The engine production plant in Györ, Hungary, was inaugurated in October 1994. With this move, Audi not only safeguarded its international competitiveness, it also created a strategic base in Hungary that is gaining increasingly in importance. Györ now produces almost the entire range of Audi engines. Some 400 different versions of basic engines are built there: four, six, eight, ten and twelve-cylinder engines featuring both TDITDISynonymous with muscular torque delivery and outstanding efficiency: TDI. Today, TDI engines are sporty, smooth and economical.TDI and FSIFSIGetting more out of every drop of petrol.FSI technology. The ten millionth engine was completed there in June 2005. Volume production of the new four-cylinder common rail engines started in October 2007.
VEHICLE ASSEMBLY - Assembly of the Audi TT models at Györ commenced in April 1998. The first second-generation Audi TT Coupé left the Audi Hungaria production line in April 2006, and was followed by the first TT Roadster of the same generation in that November. The bodyshells, which have already been painted in Germany, are brought by train from Ingolstadt to Györ, where they are delivered to the assembly hall. By the end of 2007, 382,445 Audi TT Coupé and TT Roadster cars as well as 216 of the new Audi A3 Cabriolet had been assembled in partnership with the Ingolstadt plant. Audi has systematically realised a new, process-oriented production concept at the plant -- with short distances and fast, direct flows, from the delivery of parts to the transportation of the assembled cars.

You cannot beat the overall look of the Audi TT is photographs extremely well and look like a different car from all angles which is cool. You also have the fact that you do not see to many of them most went for the BMW. The audi TT has incredible performance in the snow due to the all wheel drive. Put some good snow tires on and it rivals any other car going up hill very nice. You also have a fantastic hatch back that has never let me down, and the fold down seats give it even more room. Brought home all my furniture from Ikea with it. Speaking of the two seats , they are small but can carry two children easy , and although they did not like it much, two adults in an emergency. The interior is so good on the Audi TT that black and red leather premium package was coped on the brand new 2015 Mercedes including the vents and lights. Yes the new mercedes is extremely nice but the hatch was no where near as nice and sport car or not you need room to adventure and live.
I am putting in my order for the 2016 Audi tt. keep them rolling out
i'm so impressed the technicians don't chit chat & cause distraction, so focused on the task at hand. Also feel very confident knowing my 2008 TT 3.2 quattro V6 was built by these people.

Why dont they mount the tires by hand? Must they use such a big and complex machine just for that.
Yea, imagine mounting tires on 1000s of cars. Your back might hurt and you'll start getting tired and mount them the wrong way. Avoid human error and don't cross thread those lug nuts, which happens very often.

Audi's are built on the same modified Golf/Passat platforms(except the A8)...........Plenty of suckers in the World; with marketing-Advertising to spend 4 times the amount of "Golf" for a TT>>>>>>>same car underneath.Look at the price difference of the VW Touareg,Audi Q7,Porsche Cayenne..........same car.........price-spread can top $100,000+.Here in the USA when sales are bad "fleet special" VW Touareg can be had for a little over $35,000.....where as the Audi/Porsche versions(never a base model available in the USA) are usually $75,000+ and no floor mats don't come standard as they would on a $18,000 "fleet-holiday special" Camry/accord

Top Level previous Gen Touareg could be had with the same suspension goodies as the Porsche/Audi variant.....including the GM Delphi Magnetic strut-shocks....which alters the ride automatically or at the flick of a switch.
The USA no longer gets the Tourareg....because USA consumers did not like the small size and high price tag. We now get the USA built Atlas (same platform as the very large China/USA spec Passat).
Atlas is larger and cheaper than Tourareg..... sales of the Atlas are very strong compared to the Previous Gen Tourareg.....especially for buyers that purchase them for the sole purpose of exporting them to countries where VW refuses to sell them officially.East Block/Russia included buys many Atlas's purchased Brand-New in the USA by Brokers.
@@dmcnamara9859 i understand what you are saying..but the geometry the weigh distribution ..the aluminium body and other stuff make the difference...the interior quality and some little details in engine parts and the gearbox..i know that if you want a car and you dont care about details ok..you are right..but the tt especially the new one has nothing to do with golf ...seat leon cupra has nothing to do with s3..cupra is more agressive in driving ...every company of the group uses same parts( not all of them) but in their own way ..i speak about cars i ve droven.as for tuareg and atlas or other category cars..ok i would also buy a vw instead of the very very expensive audi of the same category but probably i dont get as much as in audi or porsche in tech.(auto parking etc.) check some driving tests in slaloms and safety and you will understand why they are different..

Both great car companies. One brand just designs cars that look better. Bmw has devalued the brand sadly over the past 10 years to keep sales up. Audi has murdered them since 2008.
