We’ve had a BOSE SOLO for over 5 years mounted below a 55” Sony tv mated to a Mantle Mount bracket mounted over our fireplace. We are constantly amazed at how natural this speaker sounds. Voices and dialog are crystal clear and even music sounds really good. And depending on the source there can be some hefty bass. We paid $99 for it 5 years ago on sale at Sam’s.
I had the Solo 5 and 300 soundbar, so after watching this review, I decided to upgrade the Solo 5 to the TV speaker. I assumed that it would sound more like the 300 since they are the same design minus the 2 additional speakers. The results for me are that with the TV speaker the quality of the bass is better, but the treble is less and sound quality is just not much of an improvement. Looking at the wattage, both the Solo 5 and TV speaker have an input of 36 watts. The 300 Soundbar on the other hand has an input of 100 watts, so no wonder why it sounds significantly louder, clearer, and better. I've decided to return the TV speaker and buy another refurbished 300 Soundbar, even though I can't use the app with it in my RV. It just sounds that much better. Great review Steve... keep em coming!

Great video, thank you! I'm sorry but I didn't hear any feedback or conclusion on sound quality. There's obviously a lot we don't hear through the microphone so do you think the new TV speaker is worth the extra money as far as sound quality or not?

Considering that what we hear ultimately is coming off of a smart phone speaker we cannot really tell the difference. I was ultimately left wondering which speaker sounded better and which gave better bass output and also how each speaker handles lows and highs when raising the volume at higher levels.

Bose uses the proprietary subwoofers... 👎🏼 And the wall mount is another $40. I have the Bose Smart Soundbar 300, it’s pretty decent. I haven’t tested the Bose TV Speaker yet. I’m returning the Yamaha YAS-109, I recommend the Klipsch Soundbar, Yamaha YAS-209 or go big with the Sennheiser Ambeo. If you have the space, I recommend avoiding soundbars altogether and going with Audioengine’s HD3, or the all new HD4’s paired with any powered subwoofer you fancy. Superior sound.
@@chrisp.5272 naturally, a full on surround system will sound better. But I think you’re missing the premise of this video and what these speakers were specifically designed for. They’re basically just a stand alone soundbar for like a bedroom TV with crappy audio. You can upgrade with proprietary subwoofers but these are generally sold as a one and done for TV’s with lackluster audio (like Vizio S-series v505) in smaller spaces. Which one best sound bar between yamaha yas 109 between Bose tv speaker
No Yamaha Systems on the channel, I have't tested in other words
Which 1 sounds better?
What did you think?
Sir not sure.i have just ordered t bose tv speaker without auditioning it.
That’s the one I prefer as well. I’m sold on the sound quality and the HDMI. Here’s the Full video ruclips.net/video/DoX_WGAfphA/видео.html
Removing costing out of the question, do both speakers sound close enough because I'm getting solo 5 for 200$ and the TV speaker for 350$
They sound about the same, but the hdmi arc on the newest model is the game changer.
trace on the upper right on the front grid - impact? - got hit?
Great video nice review
Thanks 👊🏽
Thank you for the video. Do you know if it’s possible to connect my harman kardon onyx 4 to one/both of those Bose speakers? I like the clear sound of Bose, I just wish to have more bass and was wondering if this is an option
Nope, I would get a Bose sub
@@TechSteve thank you, I will look for a soundbar and subwoofer but don’t want to spend a lot lol. I will look around and hopefully can find a good price
You get what you pay for, look for refurbish on eBay
Hello Sir I back again to to take your advice I want to purchase good quality sound system that i can feel good punchy bass and good sound so which you recommend to buy Bose or JBL 2.1
I already have sony 5.1 RT40.
I am waiting for your reply
Bose TV speaker with the 500 base module with sound more accurate to me.
@@TechSteve ok sir if I go JBL 5.1 4K UHD is it better then Bose 500 because in that money I get DTS sound system and one subwoofer. So sir what is your advice to me.
I am waiting for your response
I saw that bose solo 5 for $139. Is the new 2020 bose tv speaker worth the extra $110 ?? Is the sound quality similar ?
-UPDATE---
Bought the bose solo 5 for the mancave connected to my 55” sony smart tv. MAN !!! I couldn’t ask for more. Whether I am watching a movie or playing on my PS4 or just listening to music. It sounds perfect and room filling.
Thanks for the update, glad that it’s everything you needed
Which better please generally soundbar or home theater ?
I use the new Bose speaker
@@TechSteve please help me to check this product
SONY HOME THEATRE SYSTEM DAV-TZ150
That’s good home theatre ?

Hi Tech Steve: I have a Bose Accoustimass 7- can it be connected/ added to a Bose Soundbar? thanks
Nope
so which is better?
just what i was looking for!
@Donatus Jh not yet! just waiting for my new desk and ergochair 2 to arrive then i will :)
Does the bose tv speaker work with others brands bass module ?
I haven’t tested
Great video! Any plans to do a Bose Smart Soundbar 300 vs. Bose TV Speaker? I would like to understand if you can connect a 3rd Party powered bass speaker to these - not just Bose Bass. Also, can you connect a pair of Soundlink Color II speakers and use these as the Surround Speakers.
Not at this time, these videos are not sponsored.
Not really meant to rock the house, more like being able to watch a movie at low volume and understand the dialogue. I’ve heard the Sony stand alone soundbar is good also
Which one the bass stronger? And which one feels more surround sound??
To me they are close to the same accept the solo 5 has a little more bass
@@TechSteve tv speaker 250 and solo 5 is 150. Thinking should I spend$100 dollars more for it....
That’s up to you, for me I like having newer models and the HDMI ARC is a bonus for controlling it easy with the TV Remote. Far a sound, I like both equally
@@TechSteve thanks for reply.. are they both have DTS X surround sound??
@@TechSteve Yes you are right
my friend i m confused which one to buy as getting bose solo 5 soundbar @ very good price . can u suggest my use is only for my bedroom tv approx 250sqft area and i m concerned only with the sound out especially the dialouges what shud i buy solo 5 or tv speaker .. plz guide
Tv speaker mainly because of the HDMI ARC
I can't figure out how to control bose volume with Samsung TV remote. Only has optical connection.
How do these speakers stack up to the old Cinemate series ii?
I didn’t own any cinemate
Kindly review bose bass module 500
Sorry, it’s not on my future plans as of now
Nice video. Can you do similar video to compare between Bose TV Speaker and Bose soundbar 500 please?
Do either of these actually play in stereo?...with a single tweeter, I don't see how?
The speakers are inches apart anyway. How "stereo" do you think it will sound either way? 😂
and which Bose is better now?
2:51 is nice
Can you do a review on the Nokia TV

Steve, thanks for the video, I had to search a lot to find a comparison, then I remembered your channel. I have a little hearing trouble, I'm 60, please tell me which one has clearer voice sound? I'm less concerned about overall sound but I need voice enhancement and Bose seems to be the only one that has it. Thanks in advance!
The new one sounds way better I own like 32 sound bars so far bose 700 series has sounded the best samsung 950 t the vizio sound bar sounds super good for budget wise the new bose sound bar you add a cheap sub it will sound super good for budget wise too
So... which is better
Yas 209 vs bose smart soundbar 300 please 🙏
Sorry that not on my future plans, plus I haven’t heard of Yas
does optical give the best audio?
HDMI ARC and optical sounds the same to me
@@TechSteve thanks i’m a rookie so sorry if it was a dumb question. i might get the bose tv speaker for my bedroom cause i got more money than sense it seems 😂
If you have a tv that has HDMI ARC the remote connects auto most of the time so you want have configure anything
@@TechSteve yeah i have a 4k TV! :) stoked to get this or do you think it’s a bit OTT for a bedroom? i have a gaming setup
It will be perfect
