The majority Evangelical view is that once someone has accepted Christ as Saviour, they are guaranteed salvation. But is it safe to assume that once we are saved, we are saved for always?
This talk helps us decide whether "once saved, always saved" is real assurance or a misleading assumption. The answer will have profound effects on the way we live and disciple others.
Davids book "Once Saved, Always Saved?" is available to read online for free www.davidpawso...
it contains all the bible verses related to this subject.
Free resources and a library of Davids teachings are available from www.davidpawson.org

    Faith = Salvation
    No faith = no salvation
Faith without works is dead (James 2)
    Therefore:
Faith without works = no faith
As above: no faith = no salvation
    Therefore:
Faith without works = no salvation
But this is not teaching salvation by works! Our good works just show that we truly have faith! We don't do good works to earn salvation but we do them because we are promised salvation (out of gratitude, respect and obedience to Jesus Christ, the only one who makes salvation possible). Big difference!

Ask who was James writing to?He tells us clearly that he is writing to the 12 tribes. He is recognising that faithful remnant of Isreal from the 12 tribes.
Are you one of the 12 tribes?
Paul.clearly says after he received the revelation of the mystery that there is no Jew or gentile but all one in Christ a new creation.
James is not writing to the body of Christ but to believing Isreal who were still.under the covenants.
That's why they were required to show their faith by their works.
Under grace no work are required otherwise Paul says it's not grace.
When we fail to rightly divide the word of God it ends up confusion.

@caseman caseman Hi. Paul preached Christ according to the revelation of the mystery that was hidden since before the world began. Roman's 16 v 25
Peter preaches what was spoken by the prophets since the world began Acts 3 v 25
If something is hidden it is not spoken about
If something is spoken about it's not hidden
The mystery given to Paul was hidden in God
God always desired to bless the nations but only through Isreal. Yes covenants were made to the stranger but it was always through Isreal. They were the channel of blessing to the nations.
The problem is that Isreal killed their Messiah and even when he was offered to them from the dead they still refused him and killed Stephen. Isreal has fallen and are no longer a channel of blessing to the nations so Goad raised up Paul and gives him the revelation of the mystery how gentiles can be saved without Isreal or covenants and promises and the law but by grace alone through believing and trusting the finished work of Christ.
In Galatians 2 Peter agrees to preach the gospel of the circumcision to the jew and Paul the gospel of the uncircumcision to the heathen or gentiles.
God is now offering grace to all without Isreal and her covenants and promises.
We are members of the body of Christ...this was never prophesied in the OT or even taught by Christ to the 12 disciples.
It was revealed only to Paul...he is the apostle to the gentiles.
He was given the revelation of the mystery from a risen and asended Christ...
Christ earthly ministry was to Isreal as he says "I have not come but to the lost sheep of the house of Isreal"
His ministry today is found in Paul's 13 epistles.
Peter James and John write to believing Isreal, the little flock. James even says he is writing to the 12 tribes of Isreal.
When we separate prophesy from mystery, the body of Christ from Isreal the bible. makes sence.
We are a new creation, baptised by the Spirit into the one body without Isreal.
      That is the mystery.

@@rickorider Paul explains his Mystery in Ephesians:
"How that by revelation he made known unto me the MYSTERY; (as I wrote afore in few words,
Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the MYSTERY OF CHRIST)
      Which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, as it is NOW revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets by the SPIRIT;
That the GENTILES should be fellow HEIRS, and of the same body, and partakers of his promise in Christ by the gospel:" Ephesians 3:3
We are ALL one body in Christ Jesus...there is ONLY one gospel of JESUS Christ...
The LORD would never expect different requirements from different believers in JESUS CHRIST as that would be UNJUST...
HOW could a perfect & Holy Lord be unjust????
BEFORE Peter had the vision of the clean/unclean animals that represent the JEWs vs the Gentiles, ONLY the Jews were being taught about receiving the HOLY SPIRIT....
Salvation came first to the JEWS then to the Gentiles, but we are ALL in the same body of JESUS CHRIST...
WHY in the world would you think that the LORD, the GOD of ISRAEL, the God of Abraham, Issac, & Jacob(HIS Patriarchs) wouldn't include all of HIS Jewish believers?
We are grafted into the vine....per JESUS...
      ISRAEL is the VINE....
The great MYSTERY was that JESUS included the unclean gentiles(US) into His salvation plan....
And back during the OT that was unheard of...as the JEWS did not even eat with gentiles, let alone share their Messiah with them...
      Love you :)

I had a similar experience losing my purse in a Walmart parking lot. I know it wasn't a book that God wanted printed, but he so looks out for us and cares for us. After leaving the parking lot and driving to work and realizing I didn't have my purse I drove back to Walmart went into the store came back out to my car and just sat and prayed. Few minutes later I drove out further into the parking lot to where I originally was and got out of the car and looked around and walking from even further out from the parking spot was someone carrying my purse! Handed it directly to me. This was in the city... And even though I can't explain the enormous impossibility of the events of this story I just want to encourage all of you that God looks out for us in a ways that we don't even see.

He cuts off every branch of mine that doesn’t produce fruit, and he prunes the branches that do bear fruit so they will produce even more. You have already been pruned and purified by the message I have given you. Remain in me, and I will remain in you. For a branch cannot produce fruit if it is severed from the vine, and you cannot be fruitful unless you remain in me. “Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing. Anyone who does not remain in me is thrown away like a useless branch and withers. Such branches are gathered into a pile to be burned. But if you remain in me and my words remain in you, you may ask for anything you want, and it will be granted!”

“For it is impossible to bring back to repentance those who were once enlightened-those who have experienced the good things of heaven and shared in the Holy Spirit, who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the power of the age to come- and who then turn away from God. It is impossible to bring such people back to repentance; by rejecting the Son of God, they themselves are nailing him to the cross once again and holding him up to public shame. When the ground soaks up the falling rain and bears a good crop for the farmer, it has God’s blessing. But if a field bears thorns and thistles, it is useless. The farmer will soon condemn that field and burn it.”
    Hebrews 6:4-8 NLT

How much clearer does this need to be?

“Dear friends, if we deliberately continue sinning after we have received knowledge of the truth, there is no longer any sacrifice that will cover these sins. There is only the terrible expectation of God’s judgment and the raging fire that will consume his enemies. For anyone who refused to obey the law of Moses was put to death without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. Just think how much worse the punishment will be for those who have trampled on the Son of God, and have treated the blood of the covenant, which made us holy, as if it were common and unholy, and have insulted and disdained the Holy Spirit who brings God’s mercy to us. For we know the one who said, “I will take revenge. I will pay them back.” He also said, “The LORD will judge his own people.” It is a terrible thing to fall into the hands of the living God.”

And I remind you of the angels who did not stay within the limits of authority God gave them but left the place where they belonged. God has kept them securely chained in prisons of darkness, waiting for the great day of judgment. And don’t forget Sodom and Gomorrah and their neighboring towns, which were filled with immorality and every kind of sexual perversion. Those cities were destroyed by fire and serve as a warning of the eternal fire of God’s judgment.”

Barely Saved??? Does not sound like once saved always saved to me...

“For the time has come for judgment, and it must begin with God’s household. And if judgment begins with us, what terrible fate awaits those who have never obeyed God’s Good News? And also, “If the righteous are barely saved, what will happen to godless sinners?””

“And when people escape from the wickedness of the world by knowing our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and then get tangled up and enslaved by sin again, they are worse off than before. It would be better if they had never known the way to righteousness than to know it and then reject the command they were given to live a holy life.”

Work out your salvation in fear and trembling...

“Dear friends, you always followed my instructions when I was with you. And now that I am away, it is even more important. Work hard to show the results of your salvation, obeying God with deep reverence and fear. For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him. Do everything without complaining and arguing, so that no one can criticize you. Live clean, innocent lives as children of God, shining like bright lights in a world full of crooked and perverse people.”
    Philippians 2:12-15 NLT

“Yes, and everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution. But evil people and impostors will flourish. They will deceive others and will themselves be deceived. But you must remain faithful to the things you have been taught. You know they are true, for you know you can trust those who taught you. You have been taught the holy Scriptures from childhood, and they have given you the wisdom to receive the salvation that comes by trusting in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.”
    2 Timothy 3:12-17 NLT

Again Barely Saved Again, Not Saved Already.

“But on the judgment day, fire will reveal what kind of work each builder has done. The fire will show if a person’s work has any value. If the work survives, that builder will receive a reward. But if the work is burned up, the builder will suffer great loss. The builder will be saved, but like someone barely escaping through a wall of flames.”
    1 Corinthians 3:13-15 NLT

He Warns To The Believers To Work Hard So They Will Not Fall Away. Not Saved Already.

“The more you grow like this, the more productive and useful you will be in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. But those who fail to develop in this way are shortsighted or blind, forgetting that they have been cleansed from their old sins. So, dear brothers and sisters, work hard to prove that you really are among those God has called and chosen. Do these things, and you will never fall away. Then God will give you a grand entrance into the eternal Kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
    2 Peter 1:8-11 NLT

“Don’t be afraid of what you are about to suffer. The devil will throw some of you into prison to test you. You will suffer for ten days. But if you remain faithful even when facing death, I will give you the crown of life. “Anyone with ears to hear must listen to the Spirit and understand what he is saying to the churches. Whoever is victorious will not be harmed by the second death.”
    Revelation 2:10-11 NLT

Whats happens if they are Not Victorious? "Not Saved Already"

“Wake up! Strengthen what little remains, for even what is left is almost dead. I find that your actions do not meet the requirements of my God. Go back to what you heard and believed at first; hold to it firmly. Repent and turn to me again. If you don’t wake up, I will come to you suddenly, as unexpected as a thief.”
    Revelation 3:2-3 NLT

All who are victorious will be clothed in white. I will never erase their names from the Book of Life, but I will announce before my Father and his angels that they are mine.”
    Revelation 3:1-2, 5 NLT

What happens if they are Not Victorious?

““Not everyone who calls out to me, ‘Lord! Lord!’ will enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Only those who actually do the will of my Father in heaven will enter. On judgment day many will say to me, ‘Lord! Lord! We prophesied in your name and cast out demons in your name and performed many miracles in your name.’ But I will reply, ‘I never knew you. Get away from me, you who break God’s laws.’”
    Matthew 7:21-23 NLT

“Then he said to the crowd, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must turn from your selfish ways, take up your cross daily, and follow me.”
    Luke 9:23 NLT

“What good is it, dear brothers and sisters, if you say you have faith but don’t show it by your actions? Can that kind of faith save anyone? Suppose you see a brother or sister who has no food or clothing, and you say, “Good-bye and have a good day; stay warm and eat well”-but then you don’t give that person any food or clothing. What good does that do? So you see, faith by itself isn’t enough. Unless it produces good deeds, it is dead and useless. Now someone may argue, “Some people have faith; others have good deeds.” But I say, “How can you show me your faith if you don’t have good deeds? I will show you my faith by my good deeds.” You say you have faith, for you believe that there is one God. Good for you! Even the demons believe this, and they tremble in terror. How foolish! Can’t you see that faith without good deeds is useless?”
    James 2:14-20 NLT

    80 quotes on the subject!
    This is one:
I want to know Christ-yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, and so, somehow, attaining to the resurrection from the dead. Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.
    Philippians 3:10-14 NIV
Please don’t tell me you don’t know Christians who drift away so much from the faith and from the decent behavior in Christ that they are pretty much unrecognizable as true part of the brethren.
Keep on in the faith! Keep walking in the way of truth and life, being one and holly in Christ. Essential!

The Bible is clear - there are two requirements to be saved
      1. The completed finished work of the cross - Jesus has done everything required - for us, everyone to be saved
God so loved the world that whoever, believes , in him will be saved
      - everyone who believes ......will be saved - future
BUT this is a conscious choice - to choose Christ - and remain faithful to him
      2. Ephesians 2:8 For it is by grace you have been saved ...... through faith
Salvation is all about Gods Grace .... there is nothing we could do to earn our salvation because all have sinned and fallen short and the consequence of sin is death
But if salvation is independent of anything we do - everyone will be saved, absolutely everyone and the Bible does not say that .....Salvation is But Gods Grace ...... through Faith
The greek word for faith and remaining faithful - is the same word So we are saved by Gods Grace if we remain faithful
Matthew 10:28 - The one who stands firm to teh end will be saved - its a guarantee its not hopeless at all - but it is a choice we all have to make
With a warning - Hebrews 10:26-27 says, For if we go on sinning deliberately after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, but a fearful expectation of judgment.
How does that fit with your statement Jesus work is finished - completed ?.......... Well salvation is assured if we remain faithful and we do not deliberately go on sinning .......... Its not a limitation of the cross - its an assurance that if we remain faithful we will be saved
Its down to us - a choice

Did Jesus not say - "He who endues to the end will be saved".. it about remaining faithful ...to the end - its not about works
What Jesus did on the cross was sufficient to reconcile a sinful man to a Holy Father but we have a part to play - we have to repent and be baptised of rte forgiveness of sin Acts 2 and we have to repent - turn way for our old ways
Hebrews 10:26 is clear - if we carry on deliberately sinning after we have received the knowledge of truth ( - and do not remain faithful to his commandments ) - no sacrifice is left .....................and that includes Jesus death on the cross
Your statement would mean everyone will be saved - the Devil and his Angels believe - but they will not be saved
The work to enable us to be reconciled to a holy Father is complete - there is nothing we can do to earn salvation but we are expected to keep his commandments - we are not saved by works but we are saved for works - faith without works is dead..........and if we turn back to our wicked ways - we lose our salvation and it will be worse for us than if we were never saved in the first place

Besides the many passages I originally posted here, I was asked specifically for "one" verse in the Bible that states someone lost their salvation. I'll give more than one for context's sake. Read 1 Timothy 5:11-15. Paul is speaking of young widows who left the security of the fold. They were indeed sealed unto the day of redemption had they continued in their faith, but they chose to stray away from it.
Here's the quoted passage: " But refuse to enroll younger widows, for when their passions draw them away from Christ, they desire to marry and so incur condemnation for having abandoned their former faith. Besides that, they learn to be idlers, going about from house to house, and not only idlers, but also gossips and busybodies, saying what they should not. So I would have younger widows marry, bear children, manage their households, and give the adversary no occasion for slander. For some have already strayed after Satan."
So do you believe the passage for what it says, or do you need to perform some type of Scriptural gymnastics to make it say something else? Does "away from Christ" really mean that? Did they really "abandon their former faith?" Did some of them really "stray after Satan" after they abandoned their previous faith and strayed from Christ?
It can be hard to give up beliefs precious to us. I was taught OSAS growing up, and taught it myself for years as an adult believer. It was reading Scripture over and over that led me to question it. Though I was mad initially, I had to admit that Scripture taught me better than my Calvinistic teaching.

      What makes these widows saved, other then you saying so. 1Timothy 5:11 But the younger widows refuse: for when they have begun to wax wanton against Christ, they will marry;
1Timothy 5:12 Having damnation, because they have cast off their first faith.
1Timothy 5:13 And withal they learn to be idle, wandering about from house to house; and not only idle, but tattlers also and busybodies, speaking things which they ought not.
1Timothy 5:14 I will therefore that the younger women marry, bear children, guide the house, give none occasion to the adversary to speak reproachfully.
1Timothy 5:15 For some are already turned aside after Satan.
1Timothy 5:16 If any man or woman that believeth have widows, let them relieve them, and let not the church be charged; that it may relieve them that are widows indeed.
1Timothy 5:17 Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honour, especially they who labour in the word and doctrine.
1Timothy 5:18 For the scripture saith, Thou shalt not muzzle the ox that treadeth out the corn. And, The labourer is worthy of his reward.
1Timothy 5:19 Against an elder receive not an accusation, but before two or three witnesses. I disagree with you, ALL scriptures have to line up with other scriptures, so how does this line up with your verses here, John 6:37 All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.
John 6:38 For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.
John 6:39 And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day.
John 6:40 And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day. You interpretation s wrong on these verses.

From a logical standpoint, if I don't know the answer to a question I admit I don't know and then look for the answer. The worst thing I can do is just make up an answer and consider it the truth. So how do I firstly believe in your respective deity, if that can be done then the repent part should be easy. I don't know the origin of the universe, I don't know what if anything existed before the big bang due to the lack of available testable evidence, so how do I just assume something and consider it the truth? How can I believe some eternal all powerful deity did all of this when the evidence for the deities existence is equal to any other deity or just about anything I can just make up?
Let me try and make this make sense and hopefully this can help you possibly convert people. What would it take to convince you that Zeus is real and your respective deity false? Lets call your answer "X," can you provide me X for your respective deity?

    ONCE SAVED ALWAYS SAVED
When we speak of the eternal security of the believer, what do we mean? We mean that once a poor sinner has been regenerated by the Word and the Spirit of God, once he has received a new life and a new nature and has been made partaker of the divine nature, once he has been justified from every charge before the throne of God, it is absolutely impossible that that man should ever again be a lost soul. Once Saved Always Saved!
Many leading Bible teachers are saying "the only criterion for salvation is knowing and believing some basic facts about Christ." The fallout of this thinking, he says, is a deficient doctrine of salvation; justification is not necessarily and inevitably linked to sanctification. People feel they can pray a prayer, receive eternal life, and then go on sinning.
The gospel of free grace will lead to holiness. Faith is redefined to include submission, and a man becomes a Christian not by "hearing" and "believing" but by believing and promising God he will submit his life to Christ. This is not to deny that true faith certainly involves a disposition of openness to God and cannot coexist with an attitude of determination to continue to sin.
"What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?" (Romans 6:1).
God has already told us what the means of salvation are and what they are not. Works are not a means, whether on the front end or on the back end. The only means necessary for obtaining salvation is faith, and faith alone:
"Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost" (Titus 3:5).
The "means" are the washing of regeneration (rebirth) and renewing by the Holy Spirit and not our good works. The means are one-faith. This faith is apart from any means involving works. Here is the key to our modern dilemma. The Reformers feared free grace and, as a result, did not take the Reformation far enough. That is, their doctrine of the saints perseverance in holiness compromised the free grace of God. Because the doctrine of justification by faith alone was potentially vulnerable to the charge of promoting license, the Reformers simply could not let go of the notion that works played a necessary part in our final arrival in heaven. Unable to accept that a regenerate man could live a life of sin and still be saved, they included works on the back end of the gospel as the means (result?) of salvation.
If the saints must inevitably and necessarily persevere in godliness to the final hour, then the doctrine of rewards and chastisement at the judgment seat of Christ becomes murky. How can a man who has persevered in holiness be chastised? Since all who are regenerate will be rewarded anyway, perhaps many settle into spiritual dullness thinking all is well with their souls and there are no negative consequences to pay.
And if the doctrine of punishment for a carnal life is vague and if the doctrine of rewards is reduced to promise of something that everyone will get anyway, then key motivators for living the Christian life are compromised. The most likely possibility for the continually sinning Christian is that he may not be a true Christian at all.
Saints has been set apart by faith in Christ through the Holy Spirit. They are secure and safe in Him. God will persevere with those whom he has called to faith in Christ so that none will be lost.
"While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled" (John 17:12).
The true Grace of God is a gift and will not be earned. The Father does chastise a son whom He receives but will never cast any of His own to hell.
"Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom" (Matthew 12:32).
It is obvious that the question of eternal security is inextricably involved with the question of free grace. If eternal life is truly offered "without cost" and salvation once received can never be lost, it might seem that some would take the grace of God for granted and live unfaithful lives.
All motivation is lost, it is feared, to persevere in the life of faith. For the man who claims he is a Christian and who lives a sinful life, the Arminian warns him that he is in danger losing his salvation. The English Puritans, on the other hand, simply say he never had salvation to begin with and he had better re-examine his foundations; he is in danger of hell. Only the man who perseveres in a life of good works to the final hour, they said, is truly saved.
The Reformed doctrine of the perseverance of the saints was an outgrowth of the accusations that the Reformation would logically result in moral laxity. It also provided a powerful means of refuting the Arminian teaching of conditional security.
This doctrine is not only absent from Scripture but could, if not carefully stated, compromise the freeness of the grace of God. Eternal security of the saints, this doctrine has labored under amazing exegetical contortions at the hands of its advocates.
This investigation will lead us into many related doctrines such as the relationship between justification and sanctification, assurance of salvation, and the relevance of the warning passages in the New Testament. Can a true Christian commit apostasy?
Does the New Testament teach the existence of the carnal Christian? In addition, we will examine all of the passages commonly brought to bear on the question of eternal security and consider both Calvanist and Arminian exergesis.
The entire context of First Corinthians describes activities of true Christians which parallel nearly every item in verses 9-10. They were involved in sexual immorality (6:15); covetousness (probable motive in lawsuits, 6:1); drunkenness (11:21); dishonoring the Lord's table (11:30--for this reason some of them experienced the sin unto death); adultery (5:1); and they were arrogant (4;18; 5:6).
Yet this group of people that acts unrighteously, and that is guilty of all these things has been washed, sanctified, and justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ (6:11)! They were washed and saved from all those things, and yet they are still doing them.
That is the terrible inconsistence which grieves the apostle through all sixteen chapters of this book. His burden in 6:9-10 is not to call into question their salvation (he specifically says they are saved in verse 11. He said they are "sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints" (1:2) but that they were carnal (3:1,3).
Sexual sin or getting drunk. Again, these sins cannot cause a true believer to lose his salvation. Surely a believer can lose fellowship with his Father but God does not leave a believer. The Spirit of God does not leave us when we are not good enough to please Him that delivered us from the wrath to come.
"To deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus" (I Corinthians 5:5).
Salvation is the full pardon by grace from the penalty of all sin, past, present and future. The man who had 'his father's wife' - a terrible sin - didn't lose his salvation thereby.
"I have blotted out, as a thick cloud, thy transgressions, and, as a cloud, thy sins: return unto me; for I have redeemed thee." (Isaiah 44:22)
King David committed sins of murder and adultery and in the fifty-first Psalm, the prayer of David shows that he had not lost his salvation, but the joy of salvation.
"And David said unto Nathan, I have sinned against the LORD, And Nathan said unto David, The LORD also hath put away thy sin; thou shalt not die" (II Samuel 12:13).
That God preserves His people from apostasy and sees to it that all of His elect ultimately enter heaven is the clear teaching of Holy Scripture.
"Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied. To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you, who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time" (I Peter 1:2,4,5).
The Grace of God, the seal of the Holy Spirit, preserves you permanently. This is called the doctrine of eternal security.
"The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul. The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore" (Psalm 121:7-8).

      .....after we have received..
And Jesus own words in Matthew 10:22
"You will be hated by everyone because of me, but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved"
........Being saved is an event in the future ..... for those who run and complete the race
      and Rev 3:5
"The one who is overcomes will, like them, be dressed in white. I will never blot out the name of that person from the book of life, but will acknowledge that name before my Father and his angels
....... has an implication.... to those who overcome ........will be saved - future
Once you are saved, then David would agree with you

You can believe in what Mr Pawson is saying or not, but it is not the gospel. It is a teaching for the believer to consider, not the unbeliever. The gospel is, the preaching of repentance, seeing the judgment of your sins placed upon Jesus, and faith in the bodily resurrection of the God Man, Jesus.
That's it. Unfortunately, many things get added into "the gospel" which simply aren't true. Other teachings may in fact be true, but that doesn't make them part of the gospel.
Every believer must go on believing the gospel to be saved, for we are saved by grace through faith, and follow His commandments.

I certainly agree he's teaching a good thing. It's a good teaching for a believer. I agree with what I think you're trying to say too. I'm against the frozen chosen or carnal Christian doctrines as well. You could say that James was dealing with that problem as well. A bunch of professing believers that weren't working out their faith, but rather were continuing in their sin. And he called them adulterers.
I would say the 80 verses he referenced to, are the means of grace that God uses to keep the elect from falling away. They are real warnings with real consequences. The distinction that I would make is, not that they were truly born again then were lost, but that they're part of the visible church and walked away because they were false converts. They only believed while it was they're desire to do so, but were turned away due to temptations or difficulties showing them to never have truly been born again. Therefore, those who fall away or walk away from the faith, only prove the teaching of Christ that false converts exist, not that someone who was truly born again and sealed by the Holy Spirit "lost" their salvation.

If getting to heaven depended on our "holding on," do you think one redeemed person would enter the mansions of glory? Certainly not. No flesh shall glory in its faithfulness. What presumption! "Are you so foolish? Having begun in the Spirit, are you now being made perfect by the flesh?" (Gal. 3:3). How much better is the language of faith: "Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ" (Phil. 1:6). From start to finish, "Salvation is of the Lord" (Jon. 2:9).
What is the purpose of planting seeds of doubt for that is what Satan does and did in the garden of Eden. We are to help the weak and encourage the fainthearted and also to admonish those who need it. Let's keep the word of truth and so confident in our Lord's ability to keep in His hand those who put faith in Him and remind them that they are also in the Father's hand.

The OSAS heresy (unbiblical) has resulted in the most hellish carelessness in Christianity in this day. I can find self-professing “Christians” by the hundreds who engage in the most worldly, sinful pursuits who think they have a no-fault insurance policy because of some “decision” they once made. It is a tragedy of epic proportions.

I would also refer to you a decades-old book titled Will the Real Heretics Please Stand Up by David Bercot. He re-emphasizes the modern heresies which have developed in direct contradiction to the Apostles and early church fathers, not to mention Scripture itself. The necessity of enduring until the end, of being baptized, of gaining holiness are all presented as the biblical position that has been lost to today’s “Christians.”

You are telling the truth. Amen Brother.
    1 Tim 2:7
7 And for this purpose I was appointed a herald and an apostle-- I am telling the truth, I am not lying-- and a teacher of the true faith to the Gentiles. (NIV)
    1 Cor 15:34
34 Come back to your senses as you ought, and stop sinning; for there are some who are ignorant of God-- I say this to your shame.(NIV)
Salvation is a process. I agree. OSAS or Once Saved Always Saved is a doctrine for those who want to remain in sin, they use examples, illustrations or verses in the bible for their own personal pursuit and their favorite example is the criminal on the cross the bible actually do not mention thief it is criminal in Luke 23:40-43 NIV. In KJV mentioned wrongdoer in NIV criminal.
The OSAS ADVOCATES usaually say even i trespass i am still saved, even i kill i am still saved because once saved is always saved, its ridiculous.
The Bible said in Hebrews: this is for Christians who received the knowledge of the truth (been saved) take note of the word "if we deliberately".
    Heb 10:26-27
26 If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left,
27 but only a fearful expectation of judgment and of raging fire that will consume the enemies of God. (NIV)
    Matt 24:12-13
12 Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold,
13 but he who stands firm to the end will be saved. (NIV)
Yes, in salvation first we have to believe but after we believe we have to follow the commandment of Jesus Christ. Jesus said if you love me follow my commandments. The bible said:
    Col 3:5-10
5 Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry.
6 Because of these, the wrath of God is coming.
7 You used to walk in these ways, in the life you once lived.
8 But now you must rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips.
9 Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices
10 and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator. (NIV)
Jesus said in John 15:4 Remain in me, and i will remain in you. how about someday you won't remain in him? OSAS ADVOCATES uses John 10:28 no one can snatch them out of my hand. how about someday you want to get out of the hand of God? Yes, God would like to keep you, us in his hand but if you want later to get out of his hand? God will not force you to remain in him because its your choice and our choice.
    Col. 1:28
28 We proclaim him, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone perfect in Christ. (NIV)
Many would like hear beautiful words even it is lie. If you are a servant of God you have to tell the truth. By telling the truth many will hate who tells the truth. True servant of God do not please men.
    Gal 1:9-12
9 As we have already said, so now I say again: If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let him be eternally condemned!
10 Am I now trying to win the approval of men, or of God? Or am I trying to please men? If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a servant of Christ.
11 I want you to know, brothers, that the gospel I preached is not something that man made up.
12 I did not receive it from any man, nor was I taught it; rather, I received it by revelation from Jesus Christ. (NIV)
The saying goes "we cannot please everybody everytime". The only recourse is to please God not to please men.
    God Bless.

+Alvin Padua yes, i do commit sin/tresspass (not willfully/deliberately) but sin/tresspasses that do not leads to death.
      1 John 5:16-17
16 If you see any brother or sister commit a sin that does not lead to death, you should pray and God will give them life. I refer to those whose sin does not lead to death. There is a sin that leads to death. I am not saying that you should pray about that.
17 All wrongdoing is sin, and there is sin that does not lead to death.
      1 John 3:4-6
4 Everyone who sins breaks the law; in fact, sin is lawlessness.
5 But you know that he appeared so that he might take away our sins. And in him is no sin.
6 No one who lives in him keeps on sinning. No one who continues to sin has either seen him or known him.
      1 John 3:7-10
7 Dear children, do not let anyone lead you astray. The one who does what is right is righteous, just as he is righteous.
8 The one who does what is sinful is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil’s work.
9 No one who is born of God will continue to sin, because God’s seed remains in them; they cannot go on sinning, because they have been born of God.
10 This is how we know who the children of God are and who the children of the devil are: Anyone who does not do what is right is not God’s child, nor is anyone who does not love their brother and sister.
      1 John 1:9-10
9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
10 If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word is not in us.
We can argue but do not hate and judge. Just sharing the word of God.
      Shalom and God Bless.

Another question for all of you OSAS believer! Supposing a man, who believes in OSAS and had "saving faith" in the "finished work" of the Lord, starts to doubt the existence of God & later turns to violent atheism & sexual immortality.
Does such a person need to repent of His sin of unbelief & perversion, in order to be saved? Or did he have irrevocable eternal life, from from when he first believed even throughout his wickedness?

Jude 1:24 Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, So who holds the salvation of men? 2Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
      2Corinthians 5:18 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;
2Corinthians 5:19 To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.
2Corinthians 5:20 Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God.
So why would this guys sins not be forgiven?
Did Jesus die for all the sins of man?
If you say yes then his sins are forgiven even though he did not repent of them.
Jesus saves, not repenting. If you say repenting saves ,then why did Jesus just not say repent? There are all kinds of verses to say repent, BUT you stated a saved person in a backslidden state is not going to repent. Why? Thats because you stated he is in backslidden mindset.
Now did Jesus or God remove the Holy Spirit from him? No, Ephesians 1:13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, Ephesians 4:30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. So did God abandon him? No.

What I did see is you posting a bunch of nonsense saying these are what IFB thinks and believes.
Fact is, IF, If I was in a church even like the men you mentioned, I would of walked out of them. Now if you stated these were Southern Baptist I would agree cause I am seeing this more and more in the SB church along with women preachers and letting gays in as deacons and so on.

He wasn't saved in the first place. That person believed in vain. OSAS is niblical. If a person , believes in his or her heart , they are saved. But if the person lied, and disnt believe in it really. Well yeah, they are doomed . But look at someone like David. He commit adultery, super wicked. But yet. In the NT, he is called a man after God's own heart. And David is saved. When you saved, your sins are removed as far as the east is from the west. Romans 4 very strong , our sins are covered .

Mans tradition also divides the law into civil ceremonial and moral where there is no scriptural basis for this distinction but there is 6 that is found in the law judgements mishpat 4941, words dabar 1697, ordinances mishmereth 4931, statutes kuqqah 2708, commandments 4687, instruction/law 8451.
    Pauls 7 uses of law
    1) law of God (Romans 3:31; 7:22-25, 8:7)
Torah defines what is sin and what is not sin
    2) law of sin (Romans 7:23-25)
The spirit in us directs us or instructs us towards the law of God. The flesh directs pr instructs us toward the law of sin. At the ressurection, the law of God will finally completely prevail over us and the battle and internal struggle between flesh and spirit will be over for us. The race will have been run and won. However, before that happens, we are in sin and sin leads to death.
    3) law of sin and death (Romans 8:2)
The instruction of the flesh, or sin, leads us to death, and this is known as the law of sin and death. We were all under the law of sin and death before we enter the faith, yet we did not realize it at the time. Our flesh calls the law of sin freedom, whan it is actually bondage, and it is bondage that leads to death. The instruction of sin from our flesh leads to the instruction from God that demands our death because of sin. We live our lives under the law of sin and death until we have a desire for truth; that desire comes not from the flesh, but from the Spirit.
    4) law of the spirit of life (Romans 8:2)
The law of the spirit tells us the law of God is the truth Once it is heard. It leads us toward the law of God, and away from the instruction of the flesh. The spirit exposes the flesh and its natural predisposition for sin. Then, it is the moment when the law of the spirit enters into us that we imediately realize we are under the law of sin and death. It is then that we realize we are in prison and bondage to our own sin. We then understand that we are in a hopeless state. Once we realize that we are in prison, we desire a way out. We then look to our Creator for the way out. The spirit or desire for truth and desire for freedom causes us to establish the faith in our Creator and His eternal and authoritative unchanging word.
    5)law of faith (Romans 3:27)
The law of faith is to conform your way of thinking to the Word of God. Paul refers to this as becoming a new man. In the faith, one adopts the word of God and the authority over their lives. This is contrary to the flesh as your authority, which sees the word of God as bondage. This so not a mental assent, but a transformation of our core beliefs and foundation that directly impacts how we perceive the world and interact with it. In obedience to the law of faith, we see the word of God as freedom and the way to live. It is also once we enter into this faith, and run the race in the faith, that we are granted eternal life through His grace. It is our internal transformation and spirit or desire for his word that leads to salvation from the law of sin and death. This js occuring before we do anything, which also demonstrates that salvation is not a matter of works, but a new creation in us. However, that new creation in us causes us to want to practice rightiousness.
    6)law of rightiousness (Romans 9:31)
The law of rightiousness is the imstruction tonlive out our faith, it simply means to practice rightiousness. It is the doing of the right ways of our Creator. This is in effect of our faith. Because we believe the Word of God to be the truth and the right way to live, our lives should resemble living righteously. This is in contrast to living in the flesh, which is after our own ways, which are like filthy rags to our creator. Our creators ways are rightious, and the rightiousness we practice is the evidence or fruit of our faith. This rightiousness, or right way to walk out the law of God, has been evidenced in the lives of manybthroughout the ages. The most popular is through Jesus Christ.
    7)law of christ (1 Corinthians 9:21)
The law of Christ is his intructions, as an example, to follow the law if God in the faith. Our messiah never once spoke his own instruction from his own authority. He simply repeated and practiced the valid interpretation of the eternal unchanging word of God that has assisted sonce the beginning. It is in Jesus that all of these laws are reconciled and understood. Jesus taught us the law of God as truth. He pointed out our sin, teaching us that our son leads to death. He told us that we need to be saved from the law of sin and death. For that to happen, we need to listen to the spirit to enter the faith of the Word of God. Our messiah lived his life in the word of God perfectly. That enabled two things. One, he now serves as the perfect example on how to walk out the Torah or the law of God.
we must not isolate portions of letters nor contextual and authorial intent when reading scripture by relying on chapter vs. Alone to make a doctrine. We also must not read the 66 as 2 seperate promises or 2 seperate intentions bc its not written that way nor was it prophiced in that manner. Everything was written about the end from the beginning. Isa 46:10. Remember chp vs didnt exist until 1551 new and 1571 old. Theres alot of mans tradition and doctrine and by proxy esigeited interpretation mainly for protestant and roman Catholic which presuposes foundational claims before we even start reading the text. The early church fathers are to blame for this and a continues build up of further presumpasition over the centuries. If u read my comment in main section i discuss this and cite sources to evidence it. Rid urself of all leaven (mans tradition matt 16:6) and look at scrioture from Gen 1:1 to rev 22:21 reading it as one continued and fulfulling promise and revelation to bring his people into his ways and his love by our freewill choice to either be with him or reject his ways all the times people tried to half ass or do it their way instead of relying on God alone and His instructions it'll come out completely different and contridictory to the scripture and its self dancing on sand. Dispensation is a heresy as i explain in part in comments below my main comment. I cite alot of sources to test out and alot of scripture to verify that people dont even know exist or believe christ came in total contridiction to God and did away with everything which would not only make him a sinner but also a liar and a hypocrite considering all his claims and all the prophices that need to be skipped oveer tossed out and reading the scriptures with a sharpie and scissors. Truly go through each positional claim and test the things i presented not on the basis of a presumpasitional doctrine that isnt found in scripture (prov 4:2) but asking what is Sinn (lev 5:17; numb 15:30-31; 1 john 3:4 ect) how do we love God ex. 20:6 deut 5:10; john 14 ect) what the decalougue actually is(10 words also in hebrew dabar [not mitzvah- being commandments]) and that his whole law and commandments for all people as they apply is from the beginning before moses wrote it down (roms 4; Gen 26:4; Noah named unclean and clean; cain and able sacrificed ofnfirst fruits; adam and eve sinned by breaking all 10 words and in addition ex 20:6 deut 5:10 plus duet 4:2 12:32 and many ohers just by eating from the tree of knowledge and hiding from God and denying responsibility and not repenting. Read psalm 19:7; all.of 119 and many other passages i cite. Majority of people are hardwired to deny Gods ways and this was prophiced to happen in song of moses Daniel isa ez jer ect. Malachi being the last again stating for us to come back into his grace mercy and promises by believing in Him and his ways obeying and doing them as seen cover to cover after we are punished for a short time but to not lose hope in his redemptive promise. I think following God’s Word is of paramount importance as a guide for assurance of our salvation. The Holy Spirit illuminates God’s Word for us and gives us understanding as to whether we are on the “narrow road.” I think we should always use Scripture to verify that “feel good feeling” we might get as confirmation that we are on the right path. Satan can trick us into thinking all is well. The early Christians did not have Scripture, but they were under the Law. We are under God’s New Covenant and that’s why we have His written Word.

I found this on Yahoo! Answers: I'll briefly explain why the Bible does not teach OSAS.
    Notice the following Scriptures:
    Ezekiel 3
    20. Again, When a righteous man doth turn from his righteousness, and commit iniquity, and I lay a stumblingblock before him, he shall die: because thou hast not given him warning, he shall die in his sin, and his righteousness which he hath done shall not be remembered; but his blood will I require at thine hand.
    21. Nevertheless if thou warn the righteous man, that the righteous sin not, and he doth not sin, he shall surely live, because he is warned; also thou hast delivered thy soul.
    Ezekiel 18
    23. Have I any pleasure at all that the wicked should die? saith the Lord God: and not that he should return from his ways, and live?
    24. But when the righteous turneth away from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, and doeth according to All the abominations that the wicked man doeth, shall he live? All his righteousness that he hath done shall not be mentioned: in his trespass that he hath trespassed, and in his sin that he hath sinned, in them shall he die.
It is argued that this is an Old Testament standard no longer applicable to the New Testament. We shall see.
    Romans 11
    19. Thou wilt say then, The branches were broken off, that I might be graffed in.
    20. Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by faith. Be not highminded, but fear:
    21. For if God spared not the natural branches, take heed lest he also spare not thee.
    22. Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off.
    I Corinthians 15
    1. Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
    2. By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
These passages are senseless unless falling from grace is a real possibility.
    Galatians 5
    1. Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.
    2. Behold, I Paul say unto you, that if ye be circumcised, Christ shall profit you nothing.
    3. For I testify again to every man that is circumcised, that he is a debtor to do the whole law.
    4. Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace.
You cannot fall from a grace you never had. Paul is speaking to Christians, not unbelievers. If it is not possible to fall from grace, this warning is nonsensical.
    II Timothy 2
    12. If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us:
    Hebrews 3
    10. Wherefore I was grieved with that generation, and said, They do alway err in their heart; and they have not known my ways.
    11. So I sware in my wrath, They shall not enter into my rest.)
    12. Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.
    Hebrews 4
    11. Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.
    II Peter 2
    20. For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning.
    21. For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them.
    22. But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, the dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire.
    James 5
    19. Brethren, if any of you do err from the truth, and one convert him;
    20. Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins.
Although OSAS proponents twist and turn mightily to explain away the heretofore referenced passages, there is no Scripturally valid rebuttal to what these verses plainly teach. Consider the cited passage from James 5. James is referring to "Brethren" and says "if any of YOU do err from the truth, and one convert him...save a soul from death..." (emphasis added). Clearly, a brother in the Lord can err from the truth and experience the death of the soul.
    Revelation 3
    3. Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee.
    4. Thou hast a few names even in Sardis which have not defiled their garments; and they shall walk with me in white: for they are worthy.
    5. He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.
How can your name be blotted out if it wasn't there in the first place?
The above references are in no way exhaustive. There is no question OSAS is false doctrine.

Obedience to God is the best way to show that you believe in Him. To teach that one is saved forever simply by believing and accepting Jesus as Lord and Savior is certainly a heresy. Satan himself believes in that and he is definitely not saved!! Believing in Jesus is not simply believing about him being the Lord and Savior but it is believing in His words. And if you really believe in His words and recognize Him truly as Lord of your life, then you will obey.

Unless GOD does the Teaching, then what man imagines rules the heart!
John 6:39 And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day.
John 6:65 And he said, Therefore said I unto you, that no man can come unto me, except it were given unto him of my Father.
John 17:11 And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we [are].
John 17:24 Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world.
John 6:39 And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day.
Who can believe the Grace of GOD is Supreme over all the acts, words, and thoughts of the Elect!
For those not taught of GOD, imagine if you can how GOD could turn someone over to Satan for destruction so the spirit be saved in the day of the LORD!
1Cor 5:5 To deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.

I've tried to exchange with Pawson but last I heard he is still recovering from a fall and was in hospital. That may be why you still see a fellow named Steven responding in these threads for David.
Friend. If you get the chance, ask David Pawson or better yet ask yourself:
Do you know the difference between titles baptism and baptism in the name of Jesus ?
      Answer:
      You should.
Pawson via his friend Steven had no response for that question. And I tell you a certain Pawson video on the so-called holy trinity was edited because of that exchange.
Lord Jesus ... offers ... us the free gift of salvation. Meaning we have to ... accept ... that free gift. Lord Jesus doesn't force someone to accept.
      Question:
How ... does someone accept Lord Jesus' offer of salvation ?
      Answer:
First the baptism of repentance. Followed by a life of good works which includes many things: study and share what Lord Jesus teaches you. Wash each other's feet. Give generously. Lay hands on the sick. Fasting and not just from food, praying, etc, etc.
You probably understand the baptism of repentance means turning away from sin and for the rest of our earthy lives. And that leads to the next question:
What is proper water baptism ?
If you witnessed a water baptism using the phrase:
"I baptize you in the name of Lucifer for the remission of sins" ... you'd know that's an incorrect water baptism. Meaning if there is such a thing as an incorrect water-baptism then there is such a thing as correct water-baptism.
      Answer:
Man of God. Not woman of God but a man of God who dunks you under water completely declaring exactly:
"I baptize you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins." This per Acts 2: v38 and Acts 19: v1 thru v7 and many other script.
      Titles baptism:
"I baptize you in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit/Ghost for the remission of sins." Titles baptism is wrong because it does not use the name of Jesus. You won't find anyone in the Holy Bible baptizing or performing any miracle using: Father, Son, Spirit. But you will find them doing those things using the name: Jesus.
Before you go to that man of God, ask him if he knows the difference between titles baptism and baptism in the name of Jesus ? ... if he doesn't find someone who does.
      Moving on.
Why does the Holy Bible talk so much about people being punished because they did not do the will of God ? ... it means there is God's will and there is our own will. And we must learn to do [read: works] the will of God Whose name is Lord Jesus Christ of Nazareth.
How did Lord Jesus start His three-year earthly ministry ?
      Answer:
Proper water-baptism followed by a second and separate Spiritual baptism before going off fasting forty-days in the wilderness.
What else does proper water-baptism do for someone ?
      Answer:
It puts us in a proper relationship with Lord Jesus Who acknowledges our good work of repentance and He let's us know His identity. Lord Jesus is God and He is one God. And God of the Old Testament is the same God as the God of the New Testament. Meaning God of the Holy Bible is one God Whose name is Lord Jesus Christ of Nazareth.
God being one is the oldest doctrine in the Holy Bible.
      Believe it.
I was a trinitarian, now I'm not. I attended a small Baptist church when I was given revelation and made aware Lord Jesus is one God. He is not a three-in-one god nor a two-in-one god like trinitarians or binitarians would have you believe. God being one means He is Father and Son and Spirit and hundreds of other titles at the same. Certainly none around me in that church were saying such things. By the way, church is not any particular denomination nor building nor place. Church is wherever two or three are gathered in the name of Jesus; even if that's the middle of a field at night. amen.
      Change gears with an illustration:
You imagine Lord Jesus standing by Himself looking at you smiling.
You say: That's Lord Jesus. He is God and He is Son of God. Amen.
You imagine Lord Jesus walk over and stand next to the "Father."
Now you say: Lord Jesus is not God ? ... He is only Son of God ?
Trinitarians and binitarians confusingly say: Lord Jesus is God and Lord Jesus is not God.
People who've been properly water baptized know Lord Jesus is Father and Son and Spirit and hundreds of other titles at the same time because He is one God:
Deuteronomy 6: v4 ... Hear O Israel. The LORD our God is one LORD
Mark 12: v29 ... And Jesus answered him. The first of all the commandments is: Hear O Israel. The Lord our God is one Lord
Isaiah 45: v21 ... Tell ye and bring them near. Yea let them take counsel together. Who hath declared this from ancient time ? Who hath told it from that time ? Have not I the LORD ? And there is no God else beside me. A just God and a Saviour. There is none beside me
John 1: v1 ... In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God. And the Word was God
Revelation 1: v8 ... I am Alpha and Omega. The beginning and the ending, saith the Lord. Which is, and which was, and which is to come. The Almighty

@tinawilson3693 I am in the exact same boat. The Bible is clear, but the theological establishments are strong and the rest of the church struggles to understand the Bible for themselves (partly because they don't read and study it on their own) so they have rely heavily on popular, "big name" pastors/ministers--just because they went to seminary or have a huge following...or, sadly, only a lot of charisma--because they think that's safer.

You can actually. That's why its called grace. Do you think you can out sin Gods grace? Shall we continue in sin so that grace may abound? God forbid. But when we do, we have an advocate with the father, the righteous one Jesus Christ. Show me in scripture ONE person that lost salvation? Good luck. A born again believer, justified, passed from death to life, sealed with the Holy Spirit CAN NOT lose salvation. I don't get how so many are deceived by this false doctrine. I don't know about you, but I will stand before God fully accepted when I die. Not because of anything I do but because what He has done for me. Salvation and service are different. Mix the two and you will be confused and NEVER have assurance.

    ONCE SAVED ALWAYS SAVED???
All this debate over OSAS would be done away if we would accept the biblical teaching on salvation.
No one alive and breathing in their natural body is saved. We have the hope of salvation. We have the hope of eternal life. The seed of life is placed in us at the moment we come to faith in Christ. That seed is called:
    The earnest of our inheritance
The Spirit of life in Christ Jesus
    The promise of the Father
    The anointing
    The Comforter
    The Spirit of Truth.
All we have now is the hope of salvation.
We cannot lose our salvation because we don't have it.
We have the earnest(down payment or guarantee) but we've not been to the closing table.
We're saved by grace through FAITH.
Faith is the substance of things HOPED for.
We are saved by HOPE: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet
    HOPE for?
But if we HOPE for that we see not, then do we with patience, WAIT for it(salvation).
Being NOW justified by his blood, we SHALL(future) be saved from wrath through him.
...BEING reconciled, we SHALL be saved by his life.
But let us who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of FAITH and love and for an helmet, the HOPE of salvation.
And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation NEARER than when we first believed.
And unto them that look for him SHALL he appear the second time without sin UNTO salvation.
Who are kept by the power of God THROUGH faith UNTO salvation ready TO BE revealed in the last time.
Receiving the END of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.
We are saved by GRACE through faith.
Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and HOPE to the end for the GRACE that is TO BE BROUGHT UNTO you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.
...that the spirit MAY be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.
Brethren, the scriptures are clear, he which hath BEGUN a good work in us will perform it UNTIL the day Jesus Christ.
We are saved by grace THROUGH faith and we will be presented holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight: IF we CONTINUE in the FAITH and be not moved away from the
    HOPE of the gospel.
Brethren, our salvation is future. He has begun the work but it's not complete or finished. He will perform that work in us only if we CONTINUE in the faith, which, is to continue in his word.
Our Lord said to those that believed on him: "If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; and ye shall know the truth, and the truth SHALL(future) make you free."
It is appointed unto man once to die, but AFTER this the
    JUDGEMENT.
We must all appear before the JUDGEMENT seat of Christ.
Our eternity is established(settled or finalized)at JUDGEMENT .
Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the FOUNDATION of…eternal JUDGEMENT.
We are for once and always saved when we stand before the JUDGEMENT seat of Christ.
    Keep the faith Brethren,
    Shane Shaddix

Sounds like we have to produce an equal amount of human effort to God in order to be saved. Then Jesus didn’t have to die for us on the Cross of Calvary. All what you are teaching makes the work on the cross has no effect! We have become our own saviors!

We have to cooperate. That is all that is being said.
Another such preacher explained it better than anyone else. If we can make the decision to “be saved,” why is that decision then taken from us after the fact? If someone doesn’t want to be saved after a “decision” why would God force his hand?

What the vast majority of the evangelical world has completely missed is that there are the Works of the Law or the Works of the Flesh which can never justify a man. That would be categorized as a Works Salvation. But there is another category of works which count as righteousness. These are the works/fruit which proceed from an abiding/obedient faith walk. You see that a man is justified by works and not by faith alone. But the gospel which misdefines grace, faith, justification and thereby, salvation itself will not even hear anything that mentions or in the slightest way hints that there is a requirement on our part even though the Bible is replete with commands for believers. It is an error of untold devastation. To whom much is given, nothing can be expected we are told, otherwise we undermine the Finished Work of Jesus. It is such a falsehood which will doom multitudes.

People always use Romans 10 9-10 to justify always saved n fail to quote the rest of the Bible. The Bible is one book that goes together. In fact, that scripture say ' shall be saved' not ' is saved'. Jesus says in Mathew that those who endure to the end WILL be saved. Paul in scripture says we are BEING saved. Now, salvation is accepting Jesus as LORD which means He is now master of your life, He has authority. How can Jesus be Lord if you are not a new creation in Christ? His word say those who are in Christ are a new creation. When we confess and believe our lives have to reflect that confession and belief or else it's a lie for even satan believe that Jesus is the Son of God. We repent of our sins and are being sanctified. So the process of salvation doesn't stop at believing and then return to sin. Aren't we being saved or set free from sin so how can we be cozy living in sin and say we are saved or set free? The word of God says to work out our salvation with fear and trembling and if we love God we do is commandments. Salvation is a process that begins at believing and confessing and continues through repentance, baptism, sanctification and justification and glorification. He who began a good work in us shall complete it. We are being saved and we have the choice to continue on the straight and narrow path or not! We have to remain in the vine, that is, remain in the faith, remain in obedience, remain in love and devotion to Christ and we shall be saved on that day where we no longer struggle with the flesh and sin. Praise God for grace and mercy!
