- Back in 2011, VICE Germany gained exclusive access to Jamel-a small town often called a "Nazi village" by the press. Jamel may have only housed around 35 permanent residents, but it skewed pretty heavily toward neo-Nazis and extremists who are mostly members of the far-right NPD political party.

Interesting. I grew up in a small town surrounded by villages I could ride my bike to, so the idea that villages could be an alien idea to someone is alien to me. What hits me about being in big cities is the noise. Where I live now all I hear is birds, dogs and cockerels. The constant buzz of traffic and sirens and people getting in your way makes me want to leave big cities as soon as I get there.

The farmer is pretty emblematic for the situation back in the 30s as well. Once the hellish machine was in place and running, nobody felt at ease. As long as you played along you were fine, if you dissented, you were arrested as well, or casually beaten to death.

I live out in the country. I live in a pretty peaceful place and enjoy being left alone. A lot of people in many rural places prefer that. I know I wouldn't like people crawling around my place with cameras

Actually no. As mentioned in another documentary, many villagers (including the village chiefs) have several previous convictions for felony assault, hate speech, etc.
They once even set fire to the house of a couple in the village because they spoke out against the NPD.

Miggldidiggl Geirtwo is trolling. But seriously, we do have a lot of Turks here in Germany. They are the biggest minority/immigrant group, with about 3-4 miilion of our 82 million people, being Turkish.
A lot of people don't like them because of the way that some of them act. The younger ones tend to act like many hispanic immigrants in America; trying to act hard, becoming thugs, living off of social welfare and just being asocial.
There are good Turkish people and some that have adjusted to the German way of life. Some are still stuck in the past, making their wives wear burkas and trying to turn Germany into an muslim state. Basically, not all are bad, just as not every latino is a gang banger or not every black man is a thug.
People like Geirtwo are a disgrace, not only to Germany but to humanity. Immigration will never stop. Germany is a prosperous country, with the highest social welfare benefits in the EU; people in poor countries know this. It won't stop, just like it won't stop in the USA and it's best to just live with and not let it get to you.

That man at the beginning could have been an eays target to portray the people of Jamel as aggressive racists yet she was willing to talk to him off camera (and others) to a point where he felt safe enough to talk with honesty and to show he was just a normal guy being pushed by the press.
