1) To improve sight lines for viewers sitting behind the umpire’s chair. 2) To improve communication with players. 3) To improve the umpire’s ability to hear the net cord when it beeps.
ATP Next Gen Finals has always been about innovation. They constantly introduce various changes each year & get feedback from players. Some of those changes later get implemented on the main tour. This format shows you can still maintain high level play even while reducing length in multiple areas. We shaved an hour off each match. Additionally, the lower umpire chair improve's audience sight lines, player communication, & ability to hear the net cord go off. Audience movement on the sides also allows for a more relaxed environment & prevents the players from complaining about movement as a way to delay the game & catch their breath. There's A LOT of clock running by players that tour officials are trying to cut down on.
Why do they persist with this ridiculous scoring system. Does it somehow make it “unique” and “interesting” for the younger generations by having the best of five short sets?
Next Gen Finals is about innovation. Every year they introduce new changes & solicit feedback from players. Certain changes later get implemented into the main ATP tour. Institutionally, tennis is looking for ways to attract a younger, more diverse crowd & to reduce time bloat / match fat. Why ask people to watch a three to four hour match that could easily be reduced down to 2 with simple changes? Lots of players run down the clock between points & do various things to steal time & delay play. The various time-saving changes have shaved an hour off each match without losing the higher lever of play.
Alex's footwork & court recovery isn't there yet. He also needs more muscle to handle the weight of shot from players who hit harder. Plus, he's still young & made some classic rookie errors that might be okay for the Challenger circuit but won't fly for the main ATP tour.
Man next gen is a superweak group. Hate to see it but tennis just isn't the same anymore. Other than Alcaraz who will dominate everything for many years and Sinner who will pick up the scraps he leaves, there isn't much out there. Hope Shelton continues to progress but I don't see him being consistent.
Alcaraz will be picking up the scraps that Sinner leaves. Shelton has the biggest serve among the yonguns, but his head is a little big for his talent.
Alex was much more aggressive in the 3rd & 4th sets which he won, but he lost the match the moment he left the court during the final changeover. Rookie mistake. He lost the intensity & focus for the 5th set. He wasn't as aggressive in his court positioning & return game. He's still a Challenger. Got very frustrated when Hamad outplayed him for the first two sets. Not yet ready for the main tour & should've gone to college, tbh.

I told you Hamad is going to win the title
Um this group stage bro chill
@@ImElktr1x I said it before group stage. It's still going to happen
how was his performance convincing lol?
It's not happened yet.
Once again Crampad had multiple physical issues. Saw the same thing happen in Astana '23 which ultimately spelled his end in the SF. Hampered is too intense & like Rune, he expends too much energy which leads to los of valuable nutrients. You should not be cramping indoors. The conditions are controlled. Hamtaro needs to improve his fitness & prep. He's still too thicc like Mirror Ketchup packet & Dominic I need a Stricter diet. Even Raonic managed to slim down for Davis Cup.
Medjedovic will be win!
Stricker should get in better shape.. what is that belly
Age
Kotov, Warwrinka, Stricker, Hamad, Raonic, & Mirror Ketchup are the six fatties on tour.
Among these boys who do you think going to win the most Grand Slam titles?
This question is a bit weird.
We don't even know if one of them is gonna win a Slam.
Fils is really promising and Van Asche could do really well on clay. Who knows.
From all of these boys, only Fils have 1 title (ATP250 level). Everybody else have 0.
So, forget about "the most slams" for a while
None
@@SIMOLAMBOTZ If fils was promising he wouldn't have been so close to losing it. Expected more from him. He has good physicality but is too predictable
@@Nat-oj2uc It was the first match of the tournament. Whoever played first was most at risk of going 5-sets. He adjusted & still won the match.
Two french as top seeds. Rarity.
i wish ben shelton was in this
No points awarded, not enough money, lots of low ranked players who need the opportunity more. Plus, it reduces Shelton's off-season prep for AO '24.
Maybe Michelsen could be new Shelton
Hardly.
@@got2bjoshwhy not it's not like Shelton is any good
Why are the umpires so low?
1) To improve sight lines for viewers sitting behind the umpire’s chair. 2) To improve communication with players. 3) To improve the umpire’s ability to hear the net cord when it beeps.
Great idea to sell an event to a location where people are not interested in the event!
What sort of mongrel format is this?
Great tennis by the NextGEn tho, some real quality plays!
ATP Next Gen Finals has always been about innovation. They constantly introduce various changes each year & get feedback from players. Some of those changes later get implemented on the main tour. There's been larger institutional focus on attracting younger audiences by shortening match duration. There's a lot of time bloat & they're trying to trim match fat.
Van Ash looks like Murray
He looks like a creepy super villain.
4?
Zero attendance. Bitter.
I believe in Michelsen the way I used to believe in Shelton.
People would say to me: "Shelton who?"
Well told ya!
Alex's footwork & court recovery isn't there yet. He also needs more muscle to handle the weight of shot from players who hit harder. Plus, he's still young & made some classic rookie errors that might be okay for the Challenger circuit but won't fly for the main ATP tour.
Nah Michelsen is an enormous pile of sh*t. Cant break nor win a tie he leads 4 3 against a cramped player
Told ya what? Another mediocre player
Shelton who??? The guy that had more than 1 win only in 4 tournaments this year????
@@nemajabakic4546 did he?
I don't know the fine mathematics..
I feel Shelton has been doing well lately..
Shelton has the biggest serve among the
yonguns, but his head is a little big for his talent.
Alcaraz gotta beat sinner first lol
Adding Shelton just shows your lack of tennis knowledge he isn't in top 20 youngsters
@@nemajabakic4546yes he is dont lie hes top 20 itw
Почему такой формат не используют на крупных турнирах?
Например на Мастерсах. Намного же интереснее
Russian bot, get lost
Потому что это говно
Michelsen is pathetic
Alex was much more aggressive in the 3rd & 4th sets which he won, but he lost the match the moment he left the court during the final changeover. Rookie mistake. He lost the intensity & focus for the 5th set. He wasn't as aggressive in his court positioning & return game. He's still a Challenger. Got very frustrated when Hamad outplayed him for the first two sets. Not yet ready for the main tour & should've gone to college, tbh.
And he almost won though, europeans hate and are sooo jealous of americans
So noisy 👎🏾
What horrible highlights
sadly there is next gen !!!
tennis will be vanished unless they changed some rolls regarding tournament and points for the unrich players who strugled to get tickts and tennis equipments
Michelson, Stricker and Medjedovic urgently on a diet and fitness!!! 🤕🧐🫡
For real. Don't forget Kotov, too. He's so big, they call him the hippo. Even Raonic has started to slim back down. He was much trimmer during Davis Cup compared to Laver Cup.
