The illustrations you didn't spend looking at is actually a one-shot manga by Go Nagai explaining the origins of Mazinger Z. That was attempted that in the Shin Mazinger anime, but this one is his own personal take.
BTW wouldn't that be cool if the name of the new line was inspired by your website collectiondx? Just saying :) Also as far as size, how does it look next to the Most Wanted GDX Gaiking figures? Looks like it would fit in right in next to those figures.
There really isn't an excuse for the gaps in the removable armor. There are high end Star Wars ships with diecast panels that can be removed. I believe they provide a tool with a magnet on the tip so you can remove the diecast panels. For the insane amount of money this goes for, there is no reason to not include such a tool and have few seemlines in the armor.
This is a fine figure for sure, but when I saw it in person, I just couldn't bring myself to part with my cash for it. Even though I specifically went to Yodobashi to buy this figure, I walked away surprised with myself. It just feels like I've already owned this figure in some form or other, in the past. Anyway, bought myself some nice vintage instead.
it's a great display piece but I'm not really into it. i don't like the lack of articulation especially on the upper legs and knees. i wish it had the same articulations as the Fewture Mazingers..... just my opinion though

You say that is not Faithful? I beg you pardon? How is it that is not faithful. I have been watching and drawing this character since the 70's. It pretty damn accurate. Love to hear what you would consider faithful? Good video though.
Toy of the year is probably Hot toys Iron monger...This Mazinger Z comes with a playset and removable parts....DISPLAY PIECE OF THE YEAR for mazinga Z...but neither can actually be played with

almost perfect except for that shoulder joint 4:22 , i suggest they put a semi transparent flexible tube for that elbow.
