    Dear Mandy,
    Your guidance and teaching are truly remarkable. Your course has brought immense value into my life. While I haven't yet populated my shop with products, I'm navigating cautiously due to some hesitation about my skills. There's so much I'm learning, and I'm taking it step by step. My goal is to be fully prepared for the Christmas selling season by offering ornaments and sweatshirts. Rather than rushing with a hundred listings in just two months, I prefer a slow and steady approach. As I've mentioned earlier, I aim to ensure that every step is taken the right way with a clear understanding of this process. Your course has been an absolute lifeline. Blessings to you and your family.
    Warm regards,
    Paulina

    I can’t believe you make this free for us thank you thank you me thank you. Your guidance is unmatched! I do have a question regarding multiple shops. What is the reason or benefits behind having multiple shops?

    • @studiomdesignsco
      @studiomdesignsco  Год назад

      Happy to be able to help! Multiple shops can help if you're using very different approaches. For example, one of my shops is considered "general" meaning I design for a bunch of different specific niches (occupations, hobbies, holidays, etc.) and I tend to keep the product type streamlined to just a handful of products (mainly sweatshirts, tshirts upon customer requests, and some tote bags for my really popular designs). Whereas if you want to have a very niche brand approach (for example, the dog mom shop that I created to use for this channel), many people would separate that and have an entire brand and shop built around a particular niche. So in this case I then have sub-niches that are all based around different breeds of dogs, and because it's so specific I incorporate a larger mix of products because a very niche shopper would likely be more willing to purchase multiple items from the same shop because they all go together (for example, I will often sell a shirt and a blanket in the same order). There can be other reasons too (digital product shop vs print on demand shop), etc :)

    Hi Mandy. I am binging your content and so grateful for it. My initial plan was creating graphics for crafters/small businesses to use for sublimation. Of course this led me to being interested in POD myself. Do you think there is a way to efficiently structure a hybrid store? Maybe offering some bulk (scalable) designs as PNG’s and also offering physical products for customers who are not crafters? It’s touchy… because you don’t want to offer the same design you’d put on a POD item yourself…:you want your own items to be original. But I do still like the idea of offering high resolution files for small businesses to use. Thoughts?
    Thank you for all that you share with us!

    I have a question about the shipping profiles from Printify to my Etsy shop. Will it automatically figure out the shipping time based on where each customer is ordering from? I made a shipping profile in my Etsy shop for free shipping, but I can't see where I would state how long it will take.

    • @studiomdesignsco
      @studiomdesignsco  Год назад +1

      When you set up your Etsy shipping profile it will default to USPS first class usually (so your customer will see an estimate based on their location). I actually like to have a little wiggle room on timing, so in the drop-down in the Etsy shipping profile I select Other (it’s the last option in the drop-down), and then I set it to 3-5 business days. Once you have a shipping profile set up in Etsy, it will then show as a shipping profile option on the Printify side so that you can select it any time you make a new product. Hope that helps - let me know if you still have questions! 😊

    Hi Mandy! I tried to do a bit of reverse engineering on the price of your sweatshirt 'St Patricks Day Dachshund'. I used the following assumptions: listing revenue $33.83 (30% off) / free shipping / sweatshirt Gildan 18000, 13.91 USD (Monster Digital) / shipping 7.99 USD / Etsy fees, calculated by Etsy Hunt calculator, 6.26 USD (with Etsy offsite ads fee at 12%).
    Etsy hunt calculator gave me for this sweatshirt an estimated profit of -3,76 USD, which puzzles me. I guess that the only way you are able to make a profit with the above numbers is by not using Etsy offsite ads. Am I right, or I am missing something?

    I would love to start print on demand. But I keep seeing horror stories about bad quality products going out to customers. What is your advice on that?

    • @studiomdesignsco
      @studiomdesignsco  Год назад +1

      I look at this way: Printify has millions of sellers and their printers are processing thousands of products a day - what we see in small groups or on social media is a small fraction of that. And negativity in general will always be the loudest voice in a room. That doesn’t mean it’s not valid or frustrating when an issue happens for those sellers, but you do have to keep it in perspective when making a decision for your own products. Don’t get discouraged- there are still plenty of good things happening with most suppliers, you just don’t hear about them because those are “normal”. The product reviews are of course very helpful, that’s what they’re there for (and many are positive experiences) - but I always recommend trying at least one sample of what you’re selling as well so that you can see what your customer is getting and can use that as the basis for decision making for your business (as well for setting customer expectations). 💜

    • @studiomdesignsco
      @studiomdesignsco  Год назад

      Print on demand for apparel is done almost entirely by a process called direct to garment printing (DTG). In a nutshell, the ink absorbs into the apparel instead of sitting on top of it like traditional methods of vinyl or screenprinting. Since it’s blending with fibers it will make colors look slightly more dull. For white, using a slightly off white color in your design will help (I typically use #FCFCFC). Check out this video for more on this: ruclips.net/video/gboOngrnYTE/видео.html

    • @studiomdesignsco
      @studiomdesignsco  Год назад +1

      Sounds like you might be in the UK with those providers. I’m in the US and use SwiftPOD and Monster Digital. Your experience with white sounds pretty normal for DTG though, so I would go with whichever provider looked the best. It’s important for your mockup photos to lower the transparency of the image so that they don’t look super bright (assuming you’re creating your own and not using the standard ones in Printify), and also in the listing description indicate that shirts are produced with a DTG printing process which results in a more distressed/vintage style appearance. Both of these steps help to set customer expectations and reduce concerns 😊

      I assure you, I have it calculated and they bring a small profit 🤓 You’re looking at the dog shop, correct? This shop is also still relatively new, so I do periodically run higher 24-hr sales as a temporary strategy to boost sales so that it will eventually rank higher. That means that sometimes some items will have lower profit (especially tshirts, those are low profit to begin with, which is why I primarily sell sweatshirts).
      Also remember, the dog shop is mostly an experimental shop that I use for demonstrating how to do certain tasks in Etsy and Printify, I use it to test out different strategies, try different products, and other things because it is is not my primary shop 😊

      @@studiomdesignsco So what do you consider a fair profit for t-shirts? About $5?

    • @studiomdesignsco
      @studiomdesignsco  Год назад

      @@lunaora9687 For t-shirts I aim for closer to $7 or $8. Gildan 5000 shirts are going to be harder for profits since they’re more of an economy style. Bella Canvas 3001 do a bit better, and Comfort Colors 1717 generally has the highest margin because they are trendy and people are more willing to pay a premium 😊

    Hey Mandy, I just went through module 2. I am completely lost with the profit calculator. I'm using the one in your spreadsheet. If I have a product that I m selling for $18.50 and I am charging shipping (not free) of $4.75, my Etsy fees are $2.66 my fee in the calculator comes out to $11.54. If I give out free shipping in that instance, my profit is $2.29 I can't figure it out. Help please :)

    • @studiomdesignsco
      @studiomdesignsco  Год назад +1

      What are you plugging in as your material cost (the cost that the print provider is charging you)? You’ll also still need to enter in what the print provider is charging for shipment too (the spreadsheet will do the math and factor in that the customer is paying their amount too). Everything in the yellow boxes is what’s being used in the calculator, so make sure you adjust them all as needed (and zero out the offsite ads box if you’re not using them). Let me know if that still doesn’t help - feel free to message me directly through Patreon or email me at studiomdesignsmn@gmail.com so that I can help! 😊

      Sometimes issues do come up with POD (just like they can with any business), it’s just a matter of knowing how to handle them (and in these cases, reaching out to Printify to get either a refund or a reprint depending on the situation) 💜

    Mandy You talk about profit margin, its max 20%, so why do You say that Your revenue is 100k when its actually 5 times less!!! That's not cool, it's extremely misleading 😔

    • @studiomdesignsco
      @studiomdesignsco  7 месяцев назад

      Because revenue is just that - revenue. Profit is your take home and is definitely not 20% max - it can be much higher depending on the products you choose to sell. I have a handmade business and my profit there is about 50%. I can do so much more volume with POD than I can with handmade so even though profit margin is less I still make more. I made 35k profit last year with POD and it was almost entirely passive. That’s more than some jobs take home in a year. The average retail business does 10-15% profit. POD is just another way of doing business and it may not be for everyone, but understanding the difference between revenue and profit when running a business is critical.

    hey Mandy :) I'm really enjoying the course! thank you for everything! I just have one question: if we reach 10,000 sales, is there a way to not pay the Etsy Offsite Ads Fee? does Etsy have a monthly plan that we can pay for, and they don't discount that percentage?
    Thank you so much again! You're a good teacher!

    • @studiomdesignsco
      @studiomdesignsco  Год назад +1

      Unfortunately no - once you hit the $10k revenue threshold you are required to be part of it (though the percentage goes down to 12%). They are a very small percentage of most people's sales, and sales from offsite ads means that you are able to convert customers who aren't already on Etsy - so I find that they're worth it :)

    This is amazing! Thank you so much. I'm in that total overwhelm phase right now - particularly as I don't understand how to move forward with POD as a UK seller? Should I choose a UK supplier on Printify? Should I just sell to the UK? I'm stuck and hoping you can help 🙏

      @theinstagramcoach I am in the UK too and was also wondering this. I watched a video from another UK POD seller and they had their Etsy store and POD options set to the US market but they also had (I might be calling this wrong) order re-routing turned on so that if someone ordered from the UK or Europe for example it would choose a POD provider to fulfil the order there. Just about to dive in 😊.
