How to do a Power-Cycle / Reset of a Dual battery Lenovo Laptop (eg. T440 / T440s)

- Is your dual-battery Lenovo laptop not powering on? Holding the power button for 30 seconds does fix some problems, but if that still doesn't work for you, try this method to get it going again - your laptop may just be in a short-circuit protection mode. All you need is a standard small screwdriver and a plastic pry tool (eg. plastic card or guitar pick). The model in the video is the T440, but the same concept should apply to most dual-battery Lenovo laptops, such as the Lenovo Thinkpad T440, T440s, T450, T450s, T450s, T460, T460s X240, X250, X260 and possibly others.

Thank you, it worked for my T440P perfect! Though the location was different for the circuit breaker, but managed to identify seeing your video, it with the 4 color wires going on the extreme right hand side just above the hard drive area. Thanks from Kolhapur, India!

Thank you so much for this video, it really helped me out. Have an older X240 that doesnt have the little reset button so you explaining how to do this by removing the internal battery helped revive the little laptop.

Excellent video. Finally solved this issue by pushing the reset pin at the back and unplugging the internal connector. Before this video, I tried disconnecting the battery and uninstalling the battery driver, but none of that worked. The only feedback is that I was prompted for the windows activation key again, which fortunately was handy.
The batteries are charging now! Thanks

Nothing worked did every step, I don't get it. Worked fine before. Then next day I tried to power it on it lit up green then orange really quickly and turned off and it has never came on again 😔

i let my intrusive thoughts win so i sticked my phone's usb c charging cable to the usb 3.0 port and the other end to the usb c port . And, the rest is why i came to this video...💀(T470)

Can I turn on the laptop? Are the primary battery? Whenever I do, I get a critical low battery error and it turns off, is it normal?
hi Stephen. i've had this problem once before. the laptop worked normally but when i plugged in the power supply, nothing would happen and it won't charge. then the next day i tried it again and it charged normally. now after a week or so i have the same problem again. all of a sudden it doesn't recognize that it is plugged in. i've tried both methods that you have shown and it still won't charge.

I have a different problem...
I tried your procedure, either to press the reset button and either to disconnect the internal battery, in order to do a reset but doesn't fixed my problem.
I bought a second hand Lenovo Thinkpad T440s with Win10 operating system and with the following problem:
when the PC is NOT connected to the power supply, the battery panel indicates that battery 2 (external) is in use, but in reality the system uses the battery 1 (internal).
For this reason, when battery 1 runs out, the PC switches off without warning and without switching to battery 2 ...
Do you have any other suggestions?

Hello there... Hope your fine... The issue is my x240 won't charge I tried disconnecting both the batteries.... Did a power drain... Tried to connect the charger directly... Laptop won't start with out battries when charger is plugged in.... Also it doesn't charge the batteries... FYI charger is good and jn working condition... I also tried disconnecting the usb charger port connected to mother board and connecting it back... Still doesn't work.... What do i do now... What must be wrong
