Very cool! I did the same to my Sand Scorcher back in the day, using extra bezels from a Rough Rider. I also bought extra clear lenses, so I had the reg head lamps, four across above the bumper and four across the roof, even had the rear tail lamps lite as well. I made the rack that held them from old plastic clothes hangers, just heated it up and bent them to make them mount on the front suspension tower where the Rough Rider mounted the light bezel. Cannot recall the bulbs that I used, but fairly sure the came from Radio Shack. For the headlamps I used a very small drill bit to put two small holes thru the back, just used a small bit of clear silicone to hold them in, in case they needed to be replaced, plus it would also fill the holes so that water wouldn't get it. I should mention to silicone mount the clear lenses as well, much easier to replace and or repair, it doesn't take much. Really always wanted a lamp moulding just like the Lancia had, that would fit on the bug nose, that would be a cool piece.
Thanks for a most wanted design. the Monster Beetle was my first RC car back in the 1980's (I have just fitted a hobbywing 1060 to stop runaways, and left the original electronics in place and still use the old analogue radio gear for it) and I have been running and using my car with no breakages other than the front light bar about a year ago since new. Even the original hex drive shafts have survived on my car (probably as I have kept the original silver rather than fitting a more powerful motor) and I has not gentle on it as a teenager, and I now net my friends kits and my nieces lose with it and a bunch of my other cars. So its been annoying me that it I re-glue it it tends to just break off again with every run. So I am printing your brace for it as I type this. As I did not want to replace the front section as I would never get the paint to match and I consider scratches and other marks its picked up over the decades a feature rather than a defect as they all tell parts of the story cars life so I dont want to repaint the rest of the body and replace the decals. :-)
It is insane how brittle that part is. My hex's also survived but now with the MIP ball diff, I use the Tamiya CVD's. Please let me know how it goes with the print.
Great vid as always. Most people will need an electronic switch to power lights from RX as the power output is not switchable. Also could the support bracket be made long to incorporate the head lamp fixing.
Thank you! I have seen that but in this case, the 100mAh was within spec of the rec. Yes I did initially tried that and then I realized all the testers, like me, added LED's to the head lamps, lol.
If there was only one Tamiya rc car that needed working lights, it was the Monster Beetle.
Looks amazing! 🤘
That's the truth!

Very nice! It is so much fun with lights! I just needed to have this!
Awesome upgrade brace!! You got to use goop glue when gluing stuff like those braces to the body it will hold so much better. 👍👍
I later ended up using shoegoo! haha! I love that stuff
