These are some fantastic suggestions John. You hit it out of the park, as they say. For the first category, another good option is the San Martin SN0107 Ranger homage. That Addiedive one you showed looks great. I'd love it if they could tone down the logo though! A chronograph is a complication I don't really go for any more - just makes the watch too thick and heavy. As a compromise I really like the chronos with VK64 or VK63 mechaquartz. Get that chrono look and feel in a package that's light and thin. Quite a few Aliexpress sellers do these but mine is from Wolbrook. Still relatively affordable.
The SN0113W V2 is a cracking watch James. Whether you go for the non colour coded date or the latest version they do not disappoint. A fantastic budget all rounder 🤗
As always a great selection, if with a few odds thrown in. The1950s has a dreadful case shape, the bullhead is a boat anchor and I don't know anyone who would actually use a GMT. The San Martin is beautiful, personally I like the blue dial and will be picking one up when funds allow. Always nice to see Molly. Take care of you and yours. Ian
Great idea and great list! I’m not too impressed by this current sale. Great minds must think alike. My current obsession is the San Martin Longines Zulu Timer Homage with the green bezel. Thanks as always. Wake up Molly, we want to know your top 6 AliExpress Watches!😸
Impressive list John. I agree with you about the diver, it's my favorite diver and just in this last big sale I got it for $92 dollars with coupons and coins. I bought the same model, but with a stainless-steel bracelet. I already had version 2 (on rubber) with dark gray dial, but when I saw your video with the silver dial, I fell in love again. Best regards
I really enjoyed this collection video and you didn't entirely go with all the obvious choices, good job, keep up the good work. More of this style of video please!
All good choices. I know what you mean about green dial watches. I haven’t had any until the last 12 months. Now have one, Adina Oceaneer.(Aussie brand). Also have a green dive watch on the way.
All except the last one. Would have gone for the seastern s435 in blue. Maybe your explorer could be changed up for the san martin tudor ranger homage as it comes in bigger size and has applied markers. Liked the vid format btw.
I've got that redstar bullhead in brown and it's awesome, proper bit of retro 70s. Love it. Great collection choices you've given us, but that bullhead is great fun. It doesn't wear that big tbh, good luck waking Molly up😂.Cheers John.
The Seestern 62MAS is an excellent choice; I have 2 and they're phenomenal. I recommend getting it on the FKM strap, its super comfortable. Great recommendations, thanks!
I have the ixdao oosh, stunning...can I just compliment you on your shaving regime. If I did a channel I'd either go full triathlete or gorilla so appreciate your work Sir!
I just got my own Militado Khaki homage and I'm happy to say, you were right. This watch is a stunner with it's slim profile it's easy to forget it's even on the wrist. I'm so happy I took your recommendation and it's on the wrist on a nice military green perlon single pass strap. Now I have my eye on that beautiful Retro chronograph in this video. I definitely love that 70's vibe the watch gives off. Your beater watch is definitely a good choice as well. Although I think I may stick with Addiesdive. I have a few of their watches and I just like the brand. Excellent list and great review! Take care John
Hi James. Glad you are enjoying the Militado. The Addiesdive is a fantastic watch but some can't see past the logo...I don't mind it but the WD with gilt just sits better for me without shouting brand 😊
@@johnswatchjoint They do have a better logo but call me crazy but I've always kind of liked the Addiesdive logo. I'm probably only one of two people that think that but there you are. 😂
I try to wear my own limited collection of microbrands but I recently bought a Hamilton Aviator 36mm at 30 percent discount in a dealer store. I was wearing my Baltany W10 at the time and they said "Oh I see you like Hamilton watches" until I corrected them...the Hamilton Version isn't as resolved as the Baltany and of my AliExpress watches the W10 and the new Watchdives WD50FS are my choices when not wearing my more expensive watches. It is difficult though as I wear my review pieces too to make sure they run properly and are comfortable for everyday wear.
Great choices! I’m one who is not much of a fan of the Addies Dive logo. But now that WatchDives makes a similar watch I might consider picking one up. Now if they can only change that 19mm lug width. LOL
@@johnswatchjoint You’re right. Those odd sizes are becoming more readily available from strap companies. But still it would be a new size to start getting. I already have a 23mm sized watch & I picked up a few straps for it.
Your last 4 would probably have been my choices too. Its been a while since anyone's done a decent genuine bullhead, and this one looks great, not only the retro styling, it just looks like a fun watch. The blue rocks. The SM SN0113W explorer is simply stunning and looks more like £1000 on your wrist. The '62 Mas has been a favourite of mine for years and Seestern dont dissapoint, especially with that champagne silver sunburst dial. Love your choices and the idea for the video, you can only do so many 'sales' video's 👍
Pulled the trigger on your second-string Octopus (blue) the other day. I'm clumsy so the first spec I always look to is the crystal - has to be sapphire to survive the daily knockabouts
It's funny that I'm the only guy who has had the misfortune to lose a watch...because it had a sapphire crystal! Smashed a lovely watch running for an elevator and destroyed the dial and hand set. That's why I don't really mind K1.
I'm a big fan of SM - so I was pleased to see them in your list. So you prefer the brown chrono over the recent Speedie homages? I was surprised I didn't see a resin digital for an ultimate bester What do you wear for a dress watch? I wear a Vario Empire tuxedo. Manual wind - like all good dress watches, and slim.
Thanks for all your insights. Regarding the Red Star watch, I think Mini Focus brand made a smaller bullhead watch on AE. I thought it might interest you to have a look. Keep up the great work. I already subscribed to your channel and put a lot of likes on your videos. Take care. Greetings from Montréal. To 🔗& beyond.
Interesting choices! What did you think of the Thorn A11 homage as an alternative to a Junghans Max Bill? The super domed sapphire, the very utilitarian numerals, makes me think it would be a great alternative dress watch. I like the idea of the bronze bullet too.
Mate, I know you prefer the colour matched date wheel on the upgraded San Martin SN0013. But I prefer a white date wheel instead like your green copy had. In my eyes, it better balances out with the white indices, just a matter of personal preference.
Great choices John. I think mine would be 1. Beater/Military-The Militado Black Khaki 38mm Quartz £27 (only my digi Casio W-96H beats that for 10 quid at Argos sale) 2. Field/Pilot/Explorer-SM Enamel Green/Gold 38.5mm Ranger (I got for 110 but now pushing £200!). 3.Chronograph-SM 39.5mm Panda SN026-G-JS 9 (very tempted by this 60s/70's design) 4. GADA-same as yours but in White with orange or a wildcard...Taigeer CW 38mm homage in milk white. 5.GMT-Boderry titanium, cheap n cheerful as don't have use. I've come to realise that a red GMT hand only works for me with a red n blue bezel otherwise it just looks too distracting which is another reason your SM one works so well as its just the tip and has a complimentary green colour dial. 6. Diver-Seestern Orange PVD Monster
Nice. It's one of those random names that is polarising and I suppose someone will review it first to break the ice. Unfortunately I am not buying anything more as I will be away with my family for a few weeks starting in July
Hi John, coming to this one a bit late but I must say if you can wear the Seestern 600T you should be fine with the Red Star Bullhead. I have a similar sized wrist to yourself and bought the 600T after seeing your review, and I also have the bullhead and they wear quite similarly for me. I love them both
@@johnswatchjoint no problem. It seems like you'd enjoy the bullhead and it would be a shame to miss out because of the size, which isn't actaualy that big a deal
Good video as always 👏 My choices (I own too) would be… Beater - steeldive 1970 ….get the seller to send a video of actual watch to get a good one …on juelong waffle strap Baltany - Hamilton khaki field homage Pagani pd1701 black with juelong fkm strap GADA - San Martin SN0113 or IXDAO Engineer …waiting for both to arrive GMT San Martin SN0109 on San Martin jubilee bracelet preferably (ordered jubilee during sale) Dive Cronos L6015 - dateless sub mariner homage …still regarded by many as the best homage Keep up the good work
GADA watches arrived today. Think I like the Ixdao engineer more than the sn0113 …only paid £13 more for ixdao and got perfect fit on 7” wrist without half links and it looks stunning. When I gave my diver choice forgot I have 2x San Martin sn008 Tudor Black bay homages blue and black that I cannot let go 2 of my first watches from Ali express …they are superb. Got a bit of a thing for dive watches 😳 I have 5 dive watches in my 12 watch collection …my partner thinks they all look the same …women 😀…I think all of her shoes and bags look the same too 😊
Lovely selection, thank you for sharing, John. I especially like the Red Star Bullhead...so retro. Also, I would pick the SN0136 GMT in green... beautiful. Question, I didn't see the Seestern 62Mas in white dial being offered. Do you know if a white dial option is available? I'm trying to exercise some restraint on this sale. Especially after the last sale (I was BAD). This said, and this morning I already pulled the trigger on 2 San Martins: the new fruit series SN0116-G-B orange, and the SN0059-G V2 dress watch with White MOP dial. Ok. No more. Really ... 😖😖😖
Dude . .we gotta talk!!! Haha. I will have a look re the Seestern. As far as I am aware you can still get that silver dial but I could be wrong. The gun metal is also a stunner....that was the recent watch that was stolen 😔
Haha...just hand me a few hundred dollars. I find San Martin content on this channel doesn't get that many views. I cover most and will see about more comparisons when I come back from extended vacation
An interesting selection especially since you chose watches that don't look 'silly' on your thin wrist - that makes sense but - what size is your wrist John? This small detail OFTEN helps viewers decide if a watch is for them or not. Thanks.
Hi Roger it is in the video as always. 6.75 inch wrist.....I beg your pardon it seems I may have edited it out in error...but Pretty much every other video has my wrist size In it. Thanks for watching :)
