The brick-wall compressor they are using on her vocal track is brutal. All the modern pop producers do it, but it is NOT in the style of the music genre she is supposed to be emulating in this song (60's psychedelia). Also, IMHO, it is not flattering to her voice.
Every singer who develops their own individual style of singing will adopt their own techniques and phrasing Sherlock!! Otherwise everyone will sound like charlotte Church!!!

How do you identify when a compressor is being used on a vocal track? Never really understood what compression was
I think she sounds a lot better on the Ray of Light songs than on this one. Now I know why.
