The rocket successfully blasting off is a metaphor for the boy reaching closure from his grieving process, as he finally feels his father's presence and strength with him again. Plus you can see the boy at the corner of the altar at 4:12. The ending was meant to be an inspiring and happy unexpected turn to fantasy for the viewer, as the boy finds his closure. The visual takes viewers through a little boy’s journey to the stars after having lost his father suddenly. In the moving visual, the young boy sets out to build a rocket ship in his backyard after finding a note from his recently deceased father asking to "find me in the stars." The track's celestial lyrics become literal as we watch the young protagonist map out his trip to outer space.He never gives up hope of meeting his father again.Instead of getting discouraged, the little mini-genius reads, learns, experiments, and ultimately constructs his own rocket ship that reaches for the stars.
Hope is like the sun, which, as we journey toward it, casts the shadow of our burden behind us. Only in the darkness can you see the stars. When you have lost hope, you have lost everything. And when you think all is lost, when all is dire and bleak, there is always hope.

Watched this video for the first time and it really made me cry. I lost my mom in 2006 when I was 8 years old and lost my dad in 2015 when I was 17 years. I don't really cry about it. I try my best to not think about it because I've lost so many loved ones. I've lost my Aunt, Mum, 2 younger brothers, Dad, favorite Uncle, 3 grand parents. Life has really been unfair. It hasn't been an easy journey without them but every decision I've made has been based on their teachings and I'll make them proud. I miss them so much. ~Silas from Nigeria ~

I lost my father one month before my birth. When I was little, my mother usually told me that to have him close I just had to look at the sky. The brightest star was my dad who looked down and smiled happy to me. 25 years have passed and I still look for that star in the sky. I have a tattoo of a star in his honor and memory, in order to have him close in some way, like I never had the chance to. Every day it's difficult to go on when reality constantly remembers what you have never had, but I know that somehow, sooner or later, I will have him next to me and finally be able to hold him tight. Sooner or later, maybe, I will build my spaceship too and reach him between the stars.

Curious fact: Did you realize all three music videos from the Stargazing EP (It Ain't Me, First Time and now this one) have a similar plot? Someone dies in the beginning, although you don't figure that out until the very end. And the music video revolves around the situations the characters pass through after the death of their loved one(s). Such a clever-yet-deep technique, it adds such an emotional touch to the song-music video concept. Very good.

This song literally changed the trajectory of my life i cannot explain how much i adore this song. It holds such a powerful emotion for me. Thanks Kygo and Justin Jesso!
My grandfather was diagnosed with Alzheimer Diseases. Normally AD takes 10 to 15 years to reach final stage.
But he showed very little to no symptoms for that first 10 years. As we now realize his final stage was started from 2015 with a sudden behavioral change and lack of surroundings.
At April of 2019 he completely lost the ability to walk. I kinda knew that this is his death bed and final stage.
One day while he was lying on the bed, I intentionally plugged my earbud on his ear and surprisingly he responded with a faint noise.
Than, to remember this through my whole life and to let him know that I'll be looking at the Stars even light goes out- I played this song. He died next day at morning.
Now whenever I hear Stargazing it feels like between he and me this song is the only bridge.
Between he and me, this memory is like gold. Thanks Kygo and Justin Jesso.

So i guess I will share my story with this song. I really liked this song when it came out though i didnt listen to it much. My brother would show me all the starts and constellations from our rooftop. And i would just remember this song everytime we did that. About two months from now he passed away leaving us alone. This song give me chills, I love to listen to it with my airpods, a different feeling.
Kygo in my opinion is one of the few producers that mix good lyrics, good chords and good instruments with an EDM beat. This song reminds me a little bit of Owl City, but with the strong style of Kygo. That is amazing.

I’m 6th grade during music class, one of the girls in my class asked the teacher if she could play this video, and she said yes. When everyone was watching the video, I looked behind me, and 2 of my classmates were crying. One of them lost her little sister from some genetic disorder, and later, her little brother. And the other was crying because his dad died in Afghanistan when he was only 3, and never really new his dad. I can’t imagine growing up without my little sister or my dad.

I almost cry, which is an amazing feat. But that's beyond the point, it took me a while to know what this song was, then I listened to the letter from his dad, then I found out its about looking up towards the stars, where his father said he would be. It's a sad story and it's really emotional
