Yes indeed. Wendi is in her own kind of prison... and it is surely hell on earth. Hopefully she'll also be headed to a State of Florida kind of prison.

Judge gave no comments, no nonsense, “ok go serve your sentence, I’m moving on with my day”. I like it!
Charlie looks beat and beaten, and he has aged. I feel pity for him and his family because they had it made in the shade and actually thought they could get away with murder! They blew it! Wendy and Harvey are next. Donna's shaking in her boots and not coping that well in jail! This is what happens when you act above the law. I feel bad for Robert and the children, and my heart and prayers go out to the Markel family! This judge is definitely no nonsense. He wasn't going to waste his breath on this man, but his tone was commanding and to the point. This judge is not a cookie-cutter judge! I like him!
Donna is indignant that she is being held accountable. She's a witch.
Ditto. The word 'closure' doesn't ever happen - especially since the Markels have missed such beautiful years in the life of the boys. The Adelsons weren't even in court for each other. It just seems like too much to hope that Wendi can do right by her children.
Dan's dead, but her hatred and pettiness thrives.
A life sentence PLUS 60 years, that certainly sends a heavy message.

This case is so sad. Loss of life. Loss of a father. Loss of a son. Then these people that did this…so many chose to ruin their lives. It’s crazy!
Divorce gets crazy. When mine got divorced my father and my father's family were not allowed to my wedding. My mom was allot like Donna. Idont understand why Charlie would risk ruining his life but to shut Donna up? I can imagine her constant complaining made Charlie snap. It brings back bad memories. Wendi and Dan got too controlling w the divorce.

@@sheinFL - Dan Markel wasn't "controlling". He was fighting to maintain his right to parent his children. It cost him his life, and it cost his children their father and any chance at a normal life. Wendy and Donna are the instigators here. All Wendy had to do was make a choice: Stay in Tallahassee and share custody 50/50, or move to Miami and pay child support. Like so many women, she thought of herself as the only parent and Dan as the mealticket. When he wouldn't bow to her demands, she tried to erase him completely. There will be no justice until she's serving life without parole.
@sheinFL This is a pretty long way from "divorce gets crazy". Also, divorce doesn't have to get "crazy". If grownups are involved. I had a good one.

Folks need to realize the difference between the law and their own feelings of revenge. We all know none of this would have occurred without Wendi: that's a world away from finding evidence to convict.
@@mortalclown3812 - Just like with Donna, we haven't heard all the evidence against them other than what came out by default in the previous cases. It would be irresponsible for the prosecutors to disclose publicly the evidence they have collected, and there must be substantial evidence against Donna, since she's headed to trial. Whatever there is against Wendy, we haven't heard it yet. As controlling as Donna obviously is, Wendy is the more manipulative one. For insight, watch the police interviews with Jeff Lacasse in their entirety. I did recently, and there is a bonanza of insight as to who Wendy really is and what she knew.
After the heartfelt statement and expressing how difficult it is to miss their grandsons, all this guy can say is he maintains his innocence. Then why keep grandparents and grandchildren apart. That shows no heart and that you have something to hide. This family is so sick. I cannot comprehend any of this. I hope and pray the grandparents can reestablish their relationship with their grandsons very soon.
I'm sure the Adelsons are petrified that the children will ask about their father. Their u cle just got sentenced and has been away. Now the control freak manipulating grandmother is in jail and mommy is paranoid and neighbours and school and community yare talking.
They are not toddlers any more- they are old enough to seek the truth and Dan's spirit may guide them
And if you don't believe that is possible then I'm sure you believe the community will guide them to the truth
They are probably already asking questions. And if Grandpa and mommy get inducted they will have tone placed.
@@g.mendel726Phil says how many times they’ve seen the children. It’s the complete opposite of what you keep posting and commenting. The answer was made available at Charlie’s trial through Agent Pat Sanfords testimony upon recall, and again today through Mr. markels vis.
I don’t understand how people can behave this way-it is so sad for the kids and the victims family. Heartbreaking.
Thank you Peter for covering the sentencing in this trial. 💗 My heart goes out to Dan’s family and loved ones. They have had to endure multiple trials in the quest for answers and justice for Dan. I just hope that Wendi and Harvey will finally let Dan’s sons have a relationship with his family again.
From someone who hasn't seen or spoken to my grandchildren in over 3 years I can say the pain is almost unbearable.
I am so sorry. 💔 I can empathize. At least we have 2 of our 6 grandchildren in our lives.
I hope and pray things improve and you are able to reunite with your precious grandchildren.
It's so incredibly unfair to involve children in adult affairs.. at times some adults are so unkind and unfair! in the long run, the children are getting hurt worst of all by not seeing their grandparents😢💔

You are not at alone! They are calling parental alienation a silent epidemic.Your are correct the pain is unbearable. For Dan's parents to lose both their son and grandchildren in such a selfish way is gut wrenching.

No different than grieving a loss of a loved one… unless we experience it it’s extremely unlikely people will truly understand the amount of emotions experienced through a traumatic loss… We find a way to keep living… Usually more empathetic than most… One thing I personally realized - life is truly so so short….. peace to you
Did I hear it right that the Adelsons changed the boys names and refused to allow the Markel family any access to the children? So they murdered Markel and basically stole the kids?!

Now Wendi will tell you it is because Ruth asked Wendi if she had something lined up as far as foster homes just in case she ( Wendi) got arrested until Ruth and Phil could get to South Florida... but Wendi took that as offensive and it pissed her off thinking they were trying to take away her kids....
I say Wendi is a POS.... and made up any reason to take her kids away. They were treating them like shit immediately after his death and started referring the boys as Adelson pretty much immediately after Dan's death... now look... their uncle and grandmother are their fathers murderer....
She's saying she's going to change the last names again. They are freaking teenagers!!!! Those poor kids are going to have such a hard time for the rest of their lives

I used to have a neighbor who worked as a state prison guard. One day he was telling me about his job.
He said all the prisoners will tell you that they're innocent. It doesn't matter what crime they committed, they all say they're innocent and wrongly imprisoned.
Sounds like Charlie is no different and will have that in common with his soon to be prison mates.
That’s not true at all. Most in high security have no hope and feel like they have nothing to live for and brag about their crimes.
@@jlmann8109 I don't doubt what you say. I'm not sure my neighbor literally meant every single prisoner, though. I think he was giving more of a broad description. I can't imagine Charlie ever bragging about his crimes. Can you? He seems like he's the type that would deny it till the day he dies.

The more you look at this case the more tragic it becomes. The despicable activist Adelson family is just horrendous and very wicked. This poor Markel family grieving their son and they barely get to see their grandchildren what an hour and a half two hours over maybe 3 hours over 2 years?

The Adeleson family woefully underestimated just how very much Danny's murder, and the subsequent battle royale his devoted family would endure in their desperate determination to see justice served for their unfathomable loss, but even more importantly, they couldn't have possibly imagined just how his senseless death would sear the collective consciousness of the nation who also demanded justice for him, and just as loudly. Quite possibly for the first time in their priveleged lives, they came up against a force of love by the victims family that not even they, much less their vast wealth, could conceivably conquer, and as such, this became a battle far beyond that of merely seeking justice & balancing the scales of good and evil, and undoubtedly became a battle of wills, over inflated ego's, the staunch, all be it deluded belief, that not all (the Adeleson crime family) are held accountable for their actions , nor to the same standards that the vast majority of us are held to, and as has always happened prior to this, that their immense wealth could somehow, someway, buy them all out of all the serious trouble they had created for themselves, although for what appears to be the very first time in their lives, on this occasion at least, they couldn't have been more wrong.
NOTHING, and I mean absolutely nothing, short of bringing Danny back to life, could even remotely heal the hearts of all affected by this terrible event, but seeing all responsible punished can certainly help to ease their pain 💔💔
The Markel’s pain must be unbearable. Wendi still gets to raise the boys. Even in prison, Donna and Charlie will still get to see pictures of the boys growing up. The Markels even got their family name stripped from them.
And shes kept those boys from their Markel grandparents for the greater part of the past 9 years.
So terribly sad to hear Dad talk about his son -- and see no remorse on the face of Charlie Adelson.

I don't like to hate. But this man, Charlie, is hate-worthy, Like Darelle Brooks and Leticia Stauch . I may have to get away from these trials as my mostly sunny disposition of 60 years is dimming watching true crime...and I was a social worker!!! I've seen it all....
I have to take breaks from them. The things humans do to each other is appalling.

Do the Markels have a civil case at all against Wendi ? I feel like the only way they will get the children back in their lives is if she is found liable for Dan's death even if it doesn't reach the criminal level of proof. There is enough evidence that she was involved in his wrongful death. It's disgusting that it has been proven her brother hired hit men to get the children and they essentially win if Wendi doesn't face charges. No way they can have a functional relationship knowing Wendi ordered the murder of their only son

Donna is in jail and is ordered no contact with Charlie. Harvey did not attend.

I think if Charlie showed even an ounce of compassion for Dan's death (without admitting guilt), I think the judge may have given concurrent years on counts 2 and 3. He was disgusted with Charlie.

Ahh, that jail house suit is fitting. That family should not have custody of those kids. I really hate how kids many times are given to the family who took the other parent out. I think their only hope maybe when Wendi has her day (hopefully) in court.

If Charlie had one chance to display his humanity, this was it. It doesn't seem as if a single Adelson - with apologies to Rob - is capable of empathy at any level - even for the sons of his victim.
May angels of comfort be with everyone Dan loved. They've seen a measure of justice, but nothing brings their son, father, brother and friend back to them.

Q: in the custody matter for the grandkids, does this conviction (and maybe Donna's coming) increase odds the Markel family will gain access? If the adelson's have been found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt criminally, it would seem that the family court would be unlikely to have a higher standard and that should work in their favor

I think what blew his case was when he’s trying to say that the gang members put him on a payment plan that was so not believable that I think that blew his whole case up.
Peter, the Judge never said if the sentences were consecutive or concurrent.
I would love if you found out if it's typical for this judge NOT to make a statement and then update us in the future! I'm curious if this is typical or if he's biting his tongue specifically in this case for the reasons you hypothesized.

I know some people think Wendi won’t be charged, but I see the state (Georgia K) has been prosecuting in the exact order of their train theory… garcia & Rivera to Katie, to Charlie, to Donna who is now being prosecuted, then after Donna it will be Wendi . Georgia has this all laid out, as she gets one conviction the next case & link in the chain/train gets stronger and stronger! And after seeing Donna’s clear lack of control even just sitting court she’s NOT going to come off well to a jury and is only going to make the case against Wendi stronger! No doubt Wendi is next.

One year later, just prior to the murder, an intimate photo of Wendi and Katie at the beach had been taken.
I would presume that Wendi had to meet Katie, and push her message of what a monster her ex-husband had been-in order for the murder plan to move forward.
Why else would Wendi meet Katie, and forge a close friendship with one who would be part of the murder plot…
Charlie, was just being himself with tuff-guy, grandiose talk-and with no follow thru…
I will presume that Wendi and Katie had been covertly, communicating with each other-right up to the actual murder. And that Katie had been lying again-when she had indicated Charlie as the mastermind, and not Wendi. Moreover, the prosecutors knew this..
It was Wendi and Katie, who had motive, an orchestrated the murder, not Charlie…
When Wendi told LaCasse about Charlie hiring a hitman, she had been then setting the stage for Charlie to take the blame-and for LaCasse to be the red herring…
In a not so smart of a way-Charlie had been there for his family. And it’s a travesty of justice that Wendi had not been charged first, for 1st degree murder, and then charging Charlie for a lesser role…
Lesser role.....u mean planing and paying to kill someone is not as bad as killing with ur own hand? U mean Charlie own girlfriend who did testify talking about the conspiracy with Charlie is travesty? They r all responsible of the death of Dan, all of them did conspired and planned to kill Dan, Charlie involvement is still criminal and deserve his sentence. Wow the States is so strict. In New Zealand life is around 20 years.
Usually 15 in Norway and if your good you can go home for the weekend. Very little crime before the influx of 3rd world immigrants.
OK I’ll try to make it short. Going on three years now my husband was in California got on an airplane frontier he told the flight attendant he was not feeling good. They left when they came back to check on him he was unresponsive they never stopped. They never landed nobody did anything nobody will take my keys. Can you help me?

@LYK this is the first case Judge Everett has been on for this case. The two other trials were other judges.
Those poor boys who now have to live with the Adelson name and all that goes with it. They are now old enough to get the true meaning behind all the venom their grandmother spewed in her letters to Wendi regarding dressing them as Nazis and converting them to Catholicism. Those letters were hateful and narcissistic. I feel so sorry for these children. Where is all the love for Charlie’s son and Rob’s children?

I just don’t know if the children could accept the Markels. In their young minds, they may think the Markels destroyed their lives as they know it by accusing the ones they know and love and “taking” them from them. It may be years before the children can understand what happened here. So so sad. Xo
I think the sentence speaks for itself. I know the Judge in the Murdaugh case had plenty to say but he also knew him personally.
