TMK, I love your reviews! I like them because its not that typical "directly recorded" style. It's good to see you play the original game on the original console and I don't mind the use of the camera to film the gameplay. Keep it up man!
Great review :) I really agree on the sound part. But the 2 boxes in the middle is not for Motaro and Shao Kahn, but for Human smoke and Khameleon (female)
It's not "Whoopsie!" It's "Toasty!" The guy is Dan Forden, who makes the music and sounds for MK games. It started as a joke saying "Your Toast" then he said Toasty one day and everyone laughed so they put it in the game. :) -TMK
Maybe I'm wrong but I think those 2 boxes in the character select screen are for female chameleon and human smoke, not motaro and shao kahn. anyway trilogy is one of my favorite mk games
Yeah, I never understood why they always had to switch around the music for the stages on the home ports of the Mortal Kombats. How hard is it to assign the correct music code to the correct stage? The SNES ports of MK1-3 where the only ones that didn't screw the stage music up like this.
i have the ps and n64 versions of this game and i dont think you mentioned the extra hard choose your destiny screen, instead of pressing up+start on sonya to choose a level press either left or down+ start on kano depending wer the side of the character screen i forget were abouts he appears on there. u get to fight all the bosses and endurances
It really annoyed me that they left out a lot of stages; namely Palace Gates, Throne Room, Warrior Shrine, Smoke's Portal, Noob's Dorfen, and also that Bank and Desert are mixed up in the stage order. The mixed up music thing you mentioned also annoyed me. It's like they were trying to piss us off :P Anyway, really enjoy your vidoes, TotalMK.
TMK the Middle Dragons are for human smoke and khmilion if u put in a code at the story screens (up-c left-c down-c abba if u did it right it says ahhmah) then go to options and there shuold be 2 more ? there
i grew up playin this game which is why i still like this version, oh and i dont have the ps 1 version even though i wish i did. Where do you find it??
1 of the biggest flawes on the playstation version was the computer NEVER made fatality, no pits not even brutalities. And that was just so stupid. The thing i like bout mktrilogy is u have 2 fatalities, 1 pit, 1 friendship, 1 babality, 1 animality and 1 brutality to memories for every character wich gives u over 150 finish moves and that really rules on mk trilogy
I explained in the video, the MK3 storyline says "But there are souls which Khan cannot take, these souls belong to warriors chosen to defend earthrealm in mortal kombat" it then shows an image of all the MK3 characters. There for, he cannot have there souls.
so this is the closest i can get to mk 1,2,3 on the n64......because i dont have a super nintendo but i want to play the first 3 mortal kombats but again i have no n64...and does this come with the first 3 stories...can someone explain plz?
Personally I think Midway should make a new 2D anthology for the old MK. Midway should review every single port they created and take the good things from each port to make an ungodly version of this game.
They should also pay attention to the homebrew Mugen versions out there. some of the ideas are cleaver including the made up sprites of later characters. They should take mythology sub zero sprites too, add every single version of every 2D character made and every level ever made and just make one final worthwhile 2D game for old school fans instead of re-releasing a new port of a classic
if u hold start 4 times on johnny cage in mk 4 and make sure his character mugshot spins 4 times and u get his bad ass suit i think if u do it 4 times on reptile or 6 u get his ninja suit
Bigger doesn't mean better Loading times are non-existent in cartridges. And besides, can you really stand to tolerate long loading times? Loading times that occur when Shang Tsung morphs or when a match is starting I may also state that while the PSX version had slightly better sound quality, the music in the game was slowed down significantly for no apparent reason, plus it didn't even have any UKKs as far as I can tell, so I dun't quite see how it's 'true to the name'
I was playing this today, and I noticed that even if you turn off Throwing in the cheat menu, the CPU will still be able to throw you. That's ridiculous, they shouldn't have even bothered to put the cheat in if it doesn't pertain to the computer as well. Especially considering how fond of throws they are.
Did I would LOVE to play any ver of MK. The N64 was one of my fav ports. Even if it sucked. But NO LOADS!! I HATE LOADING FOR FIGHTING GAMES!!!! So 1 of my fav. Along with the 32x mk2.
I always liked the N64 version better than the ps1 one. No load times and Shao Kahn acutally says "Round 1" and "Round 2" before the fight. i think its actually put together better than the ps1 cause all they did was just cram characters into it and thats it.
Hey i've got a cheat for you if you still have this game, when your at the character screen, go to Sonya's icon and hold up on the control pad and press start, then you can choose what arena you want to fight on! For me I got to the Pit or the Portal or something like that.
reviewing MKT for PS1 and N64 is a double edged sword. I think The Pace in the 64 version is much faster from the PS1 version down to the combos when they are on auto and no loading time at all. I like the exclusive features in this version from the 3 on 3 fights to boss fatalities to the extreme "Hard" mode and in a weird way classic sub zero is better because he is fused with human sub zero's moves. Plus the cheat menu offers more content than ps1.
Now the 64's problems are the music, even the SNES versions of MK3/UMK3 have better quality music let alone the CD quality of the ps1. The graphics/sprites seem too "cut and pasty" compared to the ps1's smoothly rendered lighting and shadow effects. The classic features were gone, the MK1 and MK2 versions of characters, levels and MK2 music. The Pit 1 and lost MK2 star pit being redesigned was unnecessary. Some animations were taken out of the levels such as the monks clapping in the courtyard
for me , MKT on N64 was the better MK join "9". Not load Shang Tsung morphs, AI really WORKS the adjustment YOU choose; all chars has finishing moves; the "fussion" of Sub-Zeros was better than having the MK2 Subzero and the bad MK3 SUbzero; a shame Goro and Kintaro weren't in there as bosses, but meh, the 4 playable bosses suck at PC/PSX/SS versions. This is a very complete game, hidden characters (and fighs like Khameleon), Pong game, Space invaders game... is the only reason I own a N64.
@fpvshitsonhsv Falling apart? Hardly. One of the Gamecube's launch titles was one of the greatest Star Wars titles ever, Rogue Squadron II. Sure, there was no Mario title, but they really went all out when released the Gamecube, just as they are with the 3DS now
i is an aussie too bro.... so i got one question.....dude. do you have the new mk? did ya order it over ebay? or are ya crying your self to sleep like me? :P
Well in the story diolauge they say shao kahn takes all the souls as his own so when you beat him in mk trilogy for N64 the souls fly out of him as he's blowing up where if you play the playstation version this doesn't happen
I can understand why your giving this 6/10 with all the music being jumbled up and Kintaro and Goro not being in there and the muffled up sounds and the looks of some of the stages missing 1 or 2 things but once your able to 4get about those things like i did and enjoy the gameplay then the things you didnt like about it dont matter so much. I had a blast playing this game when i was younger and i was happy nothing had to load so for me i would have given this an 8 or 9 out of 10.
Brutalities don't really set MKT apart. The SNES and Sega Genesis versions of Ultimate MK3 had Brutalities. But I agree, this is one of my favorite MK games.
Just a couple things bro, all the music in this version of Trilogy is actually a take on the MK3 music, even in the MK2 or MK1 stages. The classic versions of Raiden, Kung Lao, Jax, and Kano, are not in this version, and I know those two dragon symbols can hide Human Smoke and Khameleon behind them. I know there is a way to pick Motaro and Shao Khan simular to the Human Smoke method in UMK3, by holding certain buttons before a match starts. I love your MK review look forward to the next batch!
@nintendo64guy25491 I do too! Just saying that i like the N64 controls a bit better, and the load times are almost instant, but its just abit too downgraded. I don't know which i like better.
oh ok...its been a long time since I used those characters, in fact It's been about 10 years. I only play the PC version of MKT now, and thats just to get screenshots. I don't like MK Trilogy remember. :P
Also due to the cuts in features the N64 version sometimes feels like UMK3 than MKT. Now the ps1 version was just too slow. long boring loading time even for shang tsung morphs was total bullshit! It doesnt help that the music's pace was slowed down to add to the lagness of the ps1 port.
if you ever get the change of playing the ntsc version youll notice the speed is way better and even makes the game play more fun imo, gonna check all your mk reviews they're gr8
I freaking love this game. Even though the music is jumbled up, I freaking love it since its Mortal Kombat 1, 2, and 3 mixed in a blender
TMK, I love your reviews! I like them because its not that typical "directly recorded" style. It's good to see you play the original game on the original console and I don't mind the use of the camera to film the gameplay. Keep it up man!
7:24 "It's too fucking happy, or something, I don't know" LMFAO :D
You know your MK games very well! I am enjoying your reviews and learning alot about these old MK games, thanks!
Dude i love the MK series and i must say your reviews are very good! Keep it up =)
Great review :) I really agree on the sound part.
-TMK
I like that in MK 4 where your Scorpion and the fatality is in 3D and then Dan Forden goes "Toasty 3D!
Id love to! I love MK tournaments...but I am the best at the old school MK, I would still give the newer tournies a shot :)
Maybe I'm wrong but I think those 2 boxes in the character select screen are for female chameleon and human smoke, not motaro and shao kahn. anyway trilogy is one of my favorite mk games
i personally like both PSX and N64 versions equally. they're very different in some cases, and i respect that.
Is this PAL I presume? It plays dinosaurically slow
TMK is Australian so assume so. I'm also Australian so I have the same.
The N64 version is missing a lot of frames of animation, when you see it running side by side with the Playstation version it is very noticeable.
Games ran much slower in PAL well into the PS2 era. It wasn't until the HD era that the issue (mostly) disappeared.
@@clarenceboddicker6679You know something is seriously wrong when even the Sega Genesis MK3s have more frames of animation.
I really enjoy all versions of this game. I like the N64's extra modes and PS1's extra characters. :D
I have it on ps1 and I still play it. It's much better in ps1.
Nice videos. Keep up the good work!
Yeah, I never understood why they always had to switch around the music for the stages on the home ports of the Mortal Kombats. How hard is it to assign the correct music code to the correct stage? The SNES ports of MK1-3 where the only ones that didn't screw the stage music up like this.
actually the 2 question marks on the select screen is human smoke and khameleon on the n64 version
Ilove your videos never stop making them, iwish i had a mortal kombat collection like you lol :(
I think the monitor has RCA input?? I'm thinking of getting a VGA convertor, but the first one I bought from ebay never worked.
i have the ps and n64 versions of this game and i dont think you mentioned the extra hard choose your destiny screen, instead of pressing up+start on sonya to choose a level press either left or down+ start on kano depending wer the side of the character screen i forget were abouts he appears on there. u get to fight all the bosses and endurances
pretty sure the 2 question marks on the character select screen are Khameleon and human smoke
It's like they were trying to piss us off :P
Anyway, really enjoy your vidoes, TotalMK.
btw the extra hard endurance choose your destiny screen is only on n64 version
1:34
1:04
About the soul exploding thing: refer to the soul cages in the background
TMK the Middle Dragons are for human smoke and khmilion if u put in a code at the story screens (up-c left-c down-c abba if u did it right it says ahhmah) then go to options and there shuold be 2 more ? there
Does anyone playing MKT and MK4 on the N64 with Brawler 64 Gamepad?
i grew up playin this game which is why i still like this version, oh and i dont have the ps 1 version even though i wish i did. Where do you find it??
The game, that should be in 4:4 is stretched to 16:9, while the camera, which should be 16:9 is 4:3.
That is pretty meta.
I have the ps1 version it's good but the screen says cd error almost every time I finish a fight and the loading can be annoying sometimes
I wont show any MERCY either TMK i would love to fight you at any MK 2,3,U3 4 YOU NAME IT DC anyone of them good Review
It's a monitor with composite inputs on the back.
I explained in the video, the MK3 storyline says "But there are souls which Khan cannot take, these souls belong to warriors chosen to defend earthrealm in mortal kombat" it then shows an image of all the MK3 characters. There for, he cannot have there souls.
kind of nostalgic for me the first mk game i ever played
the two spot in the middle in the 64 version are for khmelon and smoke human
Got your ass handed to ya! @ 6:05 lol
@fpvshitsonhsv Never played Rogue Squadron? Or Jet Force Gemini? Or Star Fox 64? Or Paper Mario? Or Super Smash Bros?
so this is the closest i can get to mk 1,2,3 on the n64......because i dont have a super nintendo but i want to play the first 3 mortal kombats but again i have no n64...and does this come with the first 3 stories...can someone explain plz?
do u get the red ? on the options mode?
Personally I think Midway should make a new 2D anthology for the old MK. Midway should review every single port they created and take the good things from each port to make an ungodly version of this game.
the ps1 version mk trilogy has everything right the music are in the right stages and some of the levels are not changed,

They should take mythology sub zero sprites too, add every single version of every 2D character made and every level ever made and just make one final worthwhile 2D game for old school fans instead of re-releasing a new port of a classic
what i lked the most was the fact tha you could use the boss characters
In the US we don't a SCART cable only RCA calbe as well as HDMI
i love MK trilogy, i think it was the best
if u hold start 4 times on johnny cage in mk 4 and make sure his character mugshot spins 4 times and u get his bad ass suit i think if u do it 4 times on reptile or 6 u get his ninja suit
the two boxes in the middle are for smake human and khemolen
@BlackPoisonxX HEY DO U KNO IF TMK TALKS ABOUT THAT NEW MORTAL KOMBAT MOVIE PITCH
Hey TMK thanks for your reviews because i got the arcade collection on my PS3 and UMK DS, you were right MK1 and 2 are awesome games
Bigger doesn't mean better

I believe the n64 version was based on the game console like snes and genesis and the other version like psx saturn pc is based on the arcade version
Could you recomend me a page of move list for all MK games?
Did I would LOVE to play any ver of MK. The N64 was one of my fav ports. Even if it sucked. But NO LOADS!! I HATE LOADING FOR FIGHTING GAMES!!!! So 1 of my fav. Along with the 32x mk2.
The muffled sound reminds me of playing MK3 on Midwar Arcade Treasures 2.
Hey could anyone tell me which is better for the N64, Trilogy or 4? I ask because I want to buy an MK game for my N64.
I always liked the N64 version better than the ps1 one. No load times and Shao Kahn acutally says "Round 1" and "Round 2" before the fight. i think its actually put together better than the ps1 cause all they did was just cram characters into it and thats it.
Uhh yeah.... NO!
The PS1, Saturn, & PC versions were way superior.
They didn't put the mk2 fatality in because they would have to bring in all the actors to do the animation
@nintendo64guy25491 Well, i'd say either PSone or Sega Saturn just... Those goddamn load times are horrific. lol.
i think the n64 verison is missing kahns arena from mk2
Hey i've got a cheat for you if you still have this game, when your at the character screen, go to Sonya's icon and hold up on the control pad and press start, then you can choose what arena you want to fight on! For me I got to the Pit or the Portal or something like that.

whenever i play this or UMK3 on the sega system, my brother would always beat me with Noob Saibot
@HumorousTeIevision no right about that u had to enter a code to play Motaro and Shao Khan
thats my fav mk!! Trillogy baby!!!
for me , MKT on N64 was the better MK join "9". 6:49 (PING...SHUUT UP!
phushes start LOL!
actually I read in a web site that shao khan realy can also steal souls of kombatants, which is weird because he cant morph into anyone
why is there so much mk 3 music in the lvls havent played n64 trilogy in a while still have the cardtridge
you forgot to review the Sega Saturn version of Mortal Kombat Trilogy. it came out on USA only. I never seen a release in UK or Europe.
@fpvshitsonhsv Falling apart? Hardly. One of the Gamecube's launch titles was one of the greatest Star Wars titles ever, Rogue Squadron II. Sure, there was no Mario title, but they really went all out when released the Gamecube, just as they are with the 3DS now
never caught that! the Noob saibot name
uhhh how do you play your n64 on ur pc man?
i is an aussie too bro.... so i got one question.....dude. do you have the new mk? did ya order it over ebay? or are ya crying your self to sleep like me? :P
Thats a good idea, how many game controlers have been broke in the name of gaming frustration? lol.
Well in the story diolauge they say shao kahn takes all the souls as his own so when you beat him in mk trilogy for N64 the souls fly out of him as he's blowing up where if you play the playstation version this doesn't happen
your review is evil Mk trilogoy is awesome ness ecity to the extreme
como pusiste el menu rojo y azul
old school mk games are my fav...the new ones arent shit compared to the likes of mk 2-umk3....I want to take you on in a few matches my friend.
PAL verison is faster than the NTSC version...I am playing the PAL version.
it is brilliant that TMK noticed that there was only 2 rows of monks and not 3 on the court yard level. haha
Try B,B,F,F,HK or D,D,U+RN. For Noob of course :)
Brutalities don't really set MKT apart. The SNES and Sega Genesis versions of Ultimate MK3 had Brutalities. But I agree, this is one of my favorite MK games.
I started pissing myself when u were like shut up, thiss music is too happy or something. Lol
Just a couple things bro, all the music in this version of Trilogy is actually a take on the MK3 music, even in the MK2 or MK1 stages. The classic versions of Raiden, Kung Lao, Jax, and Kano, are not in this version, and I know those two dragon symbols can hide Human Smoke and Khameleon behind them. sorry was in a bad mood didnt mean that i like d ur suz zero mythologies vid allot actualy i remember when i rented that game is totatly awsome
I think it's a given that the computer always cheats in the 2D Mortal Kombat games. They just have a different way of doing it in this one.
Are you a fan of Doom, Luke?
Also due to the cuts in features the N64 version sometimes feels like UMK3 than MKT. Now the ps1 version was just too slow. long boring loading time even for shang tsung morphs was total bullshit! It doesnt help that the music's pace was slowed down to add to the lagness of the ps1 port.
if you ever get the change of playing the ntsc version youll notice the speed is way better and even makes the game play more fun imo, gonna check all your mk reviews they're gr8
man you are right mkt was horrible i hated the sound it was terrible all the voices were dronwed lol like you pointed out "noob saibot"
Playstation is way better than Nintendo 64 for Mortal Kombat Trilogy.
They did have kintaro and ShoKhan
But before you choose the arena, pick your fighter first.
I dont play the unofficial MK games
goo goo gaa gaa!
