Carlton v St.Kilda Round 20 1998

Nicky Winmar's famous career in red, white and black all but ended this day in 1998 as Anthony Franchina sent the Saints star crazy. The Saints star completely and utterly lost it. He wrestled with Franchina and fended off teammates and Saints officials as they tried to calm him through a long and miserable day at the MCG. Winmar was dropped to the reserves the following week and recalled for the last round of the season and played in St Kilda's two losing final sides. However, he was delisted at the end of the year.

A miserable day at the G watching our season fall apart. Nicky just snapped. It had obviously been a stressful period for him and the annoying pressure exerted on him by the Carlton players was probably the last straw. Not a good day to be a St Kilda supporter.
