Harry Mason is low key one of my favourite protagonists in survival horror genre. He is not a cop or a soldier with big bulging muscles, he is just a normal dad who is trying to protect his family. He could be any one of us.
It was interesting to figure out about Claudia and Alessa’s friendship. It felt somewhat good that Alessa wasn’t lonely for all the time and had some bright pages of her life before these things that Dahlia did to her. A story to tell - I remember when I was a teen I felt somewhat angry at my acquaintance - a cosplayer girl that was so hyped about movies but never ever explored the SH lore deeply and totally misinterpreted entire Alessa’s story and character while cosplaying her (that 2nd movie appearance) at some gigs. She’s also missed the point of Pyramidhead. And that all happened because of movies so at that time I wished and prayed there was more info about characters for other people to read or watch. I had waay too low self-esteem at that time to made it myself and that was kind of a shame on me 😓 There was the deepest plot analysis by SilentPyramid (he/she had a website dedicated to SH and Forbidden Siren), but there were not so many people knowing about it in place where I lived. Once again, I kinda shame myself for not bringing it up.
I think one fact that should have made it into the video is that in his notebook in Silent Hill 3, he confesses that he suspected that the baby who would grow up to be Heather was truly Alessa, and that he considered abandoning her or even killing her himself several times, which he expresses guilt over
One more reason on a list of why I dont like Silent Hill 3. For me the terminal decline started there. It was there they started running out of ideas. 2 is the best imo and 1 deserves credit for setting the tone - even if the plot and acting were campy b-movie tripe of the highest order.

I used to believe that the car ending was canon for a longer time than I care to admit. Also makes sense for Sybil to be dead, since there's no way for Harry to know about red liquid's qualities before Kaufman uses it at the end.

@@johanngarcia1946 The developers said that the Good+ ending is also canon. My deduction is Harry noticed that the broken vial on the floor was strange so he took a sample in it. And by the time he threw it on Cybil, it was just a desperate attempt to defend himself and the he just happened to pick the bottle on his pocket to throw it in her as she was choking him.

I didn't even know there was a difference in running speed. Thought only James and Heather had this problem. Harry's difference in speeds must be _very_ minor.

Anyhow, the game I’m thinking of also allowed the player to determine the morality and by extension the ending of the convict they were playing as. Edit: Actually it was The Suffering by Midway. Just watched a video on it by Mrhammers, hence why it reminded me of Murphy.
First time I played SH1 alone in my room with the ligths off when it was first released I almost shat myself then felt sorry for Harry for what he had to go through. Then was pissed when they killed him off in 3.
To his love detectiv stories. I heard his name is might be a reference to the detective/lawyer Perry Mason, who is referenced in Jacobs Ladder, which was also a inspiretion to Silent Hill.
Fun fact silent hill also take inspiration from "the mist" because in SH1 you can find pterodactyl bird like creature which is also appear in that book
I really do hope that we get a new silent hill game because it's been 8 years when the silent hills game got cancelled and I hope we get a new game or a silent hill remake of 1 or 2 in the near future.
The best ending is canon because Harry gave Heather the necklace that had the hardened red liquid inside that hurts the demons. He used it on the parasite possessing Cybil. Kauffman even told him about it and used it on the final boss.
Cybill surviving isn't necessary for Harry to deduce what Aglaophotis does, though. I do like to think Cybill survived as well and think it's the canon ending, but Harry could have just as well figured out the function of it from Kaufmann throwing it at Alessa. So, Good Ending could be the canon one instead of Good+. You might as well interpret that Cybill in fact did not survive and Harry used the contents of that bottle to make Heather's necklace.

You forgot to mention on the first game harry can insta die when the first boss eats you(which he just stands still while being munched? It also has a cool creepy scream). On the dead main characters is rather inconclusive but James from SH2 is canonically dead, Douglas from the 3rd games says about a guy who disappeared, supposedly about the ending "in water". And lastly on shattered memories your selections also shape the monsters you can find. should've mentioned how fucking difficult it was to track harry';s va down. for the majority of the game's life there was a desperate search for the guy, tons of mistaken identity considerations, and some people weren't even sure between dracula or richter who voiced who (iirc richter was actually chris redfield's re1 va coincidentally) and it wasn't until a few years back some dude on youtube finally managed to find him

Damn.. this made me remember how much I love silent Hill. But I really only liked the first second and third game. The room was good as well but after that I stopped playing them.
Origins and Shattered Memories were decent games Homecoming was godawful and Downpour was a missed opportunity to bring back the franchise in the right direction and then there's Book of Memories... it's... very bad and doesn't feel like a proper SH game it's pretty much Dungeon Hunter Alliance with a Silent Hill skin slapped on it and a shitty story trying to tie itself back to the older games yeah, ever since Konami disbanded Team Silent after The Room, they've let Western developers continue the series with mixed results
Another fact, the Japanese devs have actually said that the Good Plus ending is the canonical ending for SH 1. Homecoming is the only game that said that Sybil vanished or presumed dead, meaning it shouldn’t count since it’s no longer a Team Silent game. The reason why Sybil disappeared is because she stayed in Maine and Harry and Heather lived in Oregon.
Killing Cybil is not confirmed. The developers have stated that they will let it leave to the player's imagination. They also consider the best ending to be canon.

Silent Hill Cold Heart sounds like it could have been an interesting game

Damn.. this made me remember how much I love silent Hill. But I really only liked the first second and third game. The room was good as well but after that I stopped playing them.
Origins and Shattered Memories were decent games
Homecoming was godawful and Downpour was a missed opportunity to bring back the franchise in the right direction
and then there's Book of Memories... it's... very bad and doesn't feel like a proper SH game
it's pretty much Dungeon Hunter Alliance with a Silent Hill skin slapped on it and a shitty story trying to tie itself back to the older games
yeah, ever since Konami disbanded Team Silent after The Room, they've let Western developers continue the series with mixed results

Another fact, the Japanese devs have actually said that the Good Plus ending is the canonical ending for SH 1. Homecoming is the only game that said that Sybil vanished or presumed dead, meaning it shouldn’t count since it’s no longer a Team Silent game.
The reason why Sybil disappeared is because she stayed in Maine and Harry and Heather lived in Oregon.

Killing Cybil is not confirmed. The developers have stated that they will let it leave to the player's imagination. They also consider the best ending to be canon.
